ICC, funny about the Fortnum and Masons paint!

DD1 went through a period of waking early, we did the same as Red and NY. It was a pain.

The DKNY down coat arrived, I like it but not with the hood up and the belt needs to be tighter. I still wish I'd bought the Aigle, however I have already paid £50 in taxes and shipping for this coat so can't return it to the US. I will use it for this winter and buy the Aigle next year!

blossoming · 13/10/2011 14:40

I shush dd through the baby monitor. Seems to work. If they see me, it's over!
But ds still wakes at 6 every day, that's okay now, so do we. They are both asleep at 7.30. Early to bed, early to rise.. Etc etc. Although how awful it must be after one of your Thursdays emo!

rufus101 · 13/10/2011 15:46

Glad to be of service ollie. I'm reading it too st the moment and enjoying it. I completely agree with her on the whole sexist litmus test. "Just ask yourself "are the boys doing it?"" If they're not you can be fairly sure there is sexism/misogyny at play.
I must really look into the whole ebay thing, but would find the whole randomness of it strange. Still money is money.
Like the sound of that cod and chorizo stew NY and have Googled a recipe. Guess what Mr. Rufus is getting for dinner tomorrow night!

wideawakenurse · 13/10/2011 15:58

Hello.

Emo, my sympathies. DS has never been a great sleeper, and often has stints of waking before 5am. He always sleeps for longer, the earlier he goes to bed though. Agree with Bloss about being seen, its carnage here too. Smile.

Exciting times red, it would be great if everything is completed before Christmas. When we did an extension in our old house we had a mini kitchen set up in the lounge. Made life a little easier. Also buy a couple of spare bowls to keep in the bathroom (if that is where you'll be using water from), they are handy for transporting plates/dishes etc. Try here for recipe inspiration.

Shame about the coat not being 100% carciofi. Although, I am sure once its freezing cold, you won't mind so much.

We have an architect coming on Saturday to discuss our potential re-modelling plans. Looking forward to hearing what he has to say. We are pretty much decided on staying here now, lets just hope the work we want to do is achievable.

KristinaM · 13/10/2011 16:41

I though you scarf lovers would like to know that our local brach of tk maxx has loads of lily and lionel scarves in clearance today. The design is venice and they had two colourways, both quite muted. One is purples and browns and the other purples, a very pale lilac and soft greens. £170 down to £27

blossoming · 13/10/2011 19:06

Hi kristina. Anyone else lose interest in a brand once they've reached tkmaxx? Or feel a fool when you see the massive reductions on Outnet etc?

Had a style epiphany today: grey agnes with black knee high boots and grey beret with black trench. Agnes will survive!!

carciofi · 13/10/2011 19:10

Nice, Bloss, that's how I am going to wear them this winter.

Wan, I am sure I won't make the money back but I think I will list the coat on ebay, might as well sell it NWT! I'm going to Westfield on Sunday and if I don't buy the Anna bag, I think I will order the Aigle. Blush

PORTIA4 · 13/10/2011 20:36

Evening ladies Smile
I do feel for all of those who are sleep deprived but it does get better, even though I do remember feeling like I would never have a good nights sleep again!
Bloss I have worn both my Agnes and Houlihans with knee high boots and IMO they do look great.
I have ordered this and bought some really nice trousers in Zara for work, they're not on the website yet, but they have a tapered leg and I think will be a good winter relacement for the capris.
Once again seeing how well you enterprising girls do on ebay I am promising myself that I will get in it and do a clear out.

MarshaBrady · 13/10/2011 21:03

Me too Portia I have a Chloe coat I think I could ebay if I can stand to part with it. But still I don't love it anymore, and it's a bit too big, so... maybe.

Emo and all with sleep issues. Big, big commiserations. Especially early waking.

Apuski first paycheque sounds like a cause to celebrate.

Carciofi Aigle sounds fab as always.

Anniemac oh I love that one. The square neckline. Hmm! I might love it more. Mine isn't here yet. Tomorrow hopefully.

blossoming · 13/10/2011 21:46

carciofi, you know JL Oxford St has the Aigle?

I have cleaned all the coats ready for ebaying during half term. Snowboard jacket, snowsuit, peacoat, and my landsend stadium squall. I was doing well till DH found me and said, oh that would do for X,Y,Z.
Um, no.

Hello all, just in from book group and popping in for a late night/early morning catch up.

Bloss, I saw a lady wearing houlis with riding type boots today and she looked great.

Portia, no luck on the waistcoat at the hotel I'm afraid as it was left more than 6 mths ago, nice dress btw - will look stunning on you.

Classic, hope you decide well Smile

Hope those of you with little monkeys early risers manage a bit of a lie in. The w/e is almost upon us and there should be the chance to catch up on some much needed sleep.

Have nice Fridays everyone.

notyummy · 14/10/2011 07:37

We watched it too last night Annie! Dh has officially declared it his favourite thing to watch on TV 'for ages.' Praise indeed.

OllieinOrange · 14/10/2011 08:24

A lovely sunny but crisp morning here. Hands froze on the bike tho so time to dig out some gloves!
DS2 has a free day from school so we are off to the indoor play centre (deep breaths) with lots of other kids from his class. Will be nice to sit and chat to some of the other mums who I dont really know that well.

Icey & WAN - any luck with your boot hunt? I wore my Kew biker boots yesterday for the first time in months and they were so comfortable. Im still searching for some grey ones but cant decide what i want.
Classic sounds like there is a lot going on. Hope its all manageable. Meant to say about your Mum and pre-school - try to ignore. My mum is terrible about understanding certain things. She still has 'views' about DSs school as they dont hold a Christmas Nativity/concert (no school does here tho but will she be told????)
Portia that would be a great dress on you.

notyummy · 14/10/2011 09:01

Yes, hope the decisions are made and brain can return to normal Classic.

Ollie - Crisp and clear here too - beautiful actually. Off for a run once I have done a quick whizz around the house.

Fairly quiet weekend planned here, although DD has a party and we hope to meet up with friends with similar aged kids on Sunday afternoon to let the kids play whilst we catch up.

ReineDeSaba · 14/10/2011 11:14

Morning ladies..

Have been rivetted by 'how to be a woman' hence lack of posting..It made me laugh out loud in places..especially the bit about what is going on inside a woman's head when she exploring the possibility of a relationship with someone(that's not actually going to happen!)I have a couple of girlfriends like that!

Ye,yes apuski you need a little back to work treat, though perhaps not the owl hat ollie linked to..I keep picturing yummy after her hat confession, wearing said hat with MU outfit!(slinky top, lace skirt, patent heels)

pickled I have been thinking about joining a book club but I am terrified after seeing your post..I am terrible at Eng.lit and would not know how to dissect a book till 2a.m..what would I say past 'it was good' Grin

Glad all the agnes ladies have found a way to winterify them, though beautiful sunshine here today.

red very late response to your 'shouting post' I didn't actually believe there were families where shouting wasn't a given till my friend told me that story..must be the company I keep Wink

need to come back later and check some links..intrigued by portia's dress.

enjoy the sunshine(crosses fingers that bloss is actually getting some too!)

carciofi · 14/10/2011 13:21

DD2 and I went in to meet the lovely Fritzi for coffee this morning. DD2 slept all night, I am sure she is teasing me and it won't happen again for a while!

Reine, I am really enjoying that book as well.

Bloss, the Aigle is available in my size online. Tempting, very tempting!

carciofi · 14/10/2011 13:22

Lovely dress, Portia.

Ooh am jealous Carciofi and Fritzi, hope you had a lovely time.

Carciofi ebay the DKNY and get the Aigle. Nothing worse than being miserable in something which you feel obliged to wear; you'll get more money BNWT (as you know!).

Glad the MiL situation resolved itself for you Ollie.

Hope you got your decision/things are becoming clearer NJC.

Fortnum and Mason made me giggle Icey.

Lovely morning here at a stay and play that has started at what will be DS' school. Staffed by children's centre employees and they made gingerbread men and decorated them; these kinds of playgroups are definitely for us. DS was a little star, DD largely ate flour. Of course, DS now thinks he goes to school. Meeting a lady I met at Tuesday's playgroup this afternoon in the park. Am hoping that some of these friendships will start to go beyond the surface level stuff soon.

Am fed up with my new Zara jeans - I bought a size 8 (which is about right - sometimes a 10) and they have bagged beyond all recognition - I can pull them up and down without undoing the button. I am quite fed-up about this - there is no way in hell I am a size 6. Vanity sizing madness? Bad quality jeans? Bit of both?

Looking forward to the weekend - the zoo tomorrow and something nice and quiet on Sunday before Monday arrives with all the madness it is set to bring.
