Best handcreams?

My hands have recently started to get very dry and I have tried a couple of supermarket own brand hand creams which haven't worked at all. Can anyone recommend a decent one? Not bothered about price, just want it to do the job!

I have just started using virgin vie guardian angel cream,recommended to me & so far so good

I love crabtree and evelyn la source hand cream, really moisturising but quickly absorbed. Not cheap, but I paid £16 for a pump dispenser of it over a year ago and it's still going

I use Boots Botanics overnight hand and nail cream. Cheap and brilliant.

Aveeno, I have really bad eczema on my hands and it's the only thing that helps

Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve. Quite pricey but you only need a small amount and it lasts for ages.

L'Occitane is lovely, about £16.

I have been really impressed by This Works, Perfect Hands Intense moisture, hand cream. It actually does what it says , my hands have never been so soft!

Aveda Hand relief is my new Holy Grail. The Botanics one is okay too, as is Garnier Hydralock (but that one smells weird). The Clarins one is nice but I prefer it for overnight rather than in the day.

Neutrogena is very good and they do an unscented one. Otherwise l'occitaine Shea butter hand cream (£££) or boots protect and perfect are good. So is good old Vaseline intensive care!

The only one that really works for me is the Clarins Hand and Nail.
Its expensive, but lasts for a-g-e-s.

I had the clarins one for Xmas, and it seems to have gone off- smells slightly metallic now. Is that normal?

Clarins Men Active Hand Care cream is lovely. it hasn't got that awful "mature lady" hand cream smell like the Clarins ladies hand cream has!

I second Crabtree and Evelyn, la source. My absolute fave. Very luxurious, smells gorgeous and is beautifully thick. The smell lasts on your hands too and they really feel soft. Lasts ages too. They do a lovely hand scrub too which makes you feel as though you have new hands!
Molton Brown is also a good second. Not as thick but soaks in nicely and lasts ages.

Crabtree here too, only one that works for me, scrub then cream, a lovely treat for dry hands and lasts ages as you only need a tiny bit and don't need to reapply very often.

Neutrogena concentrated overnight - lovely!

I'm also a Soap&Glory Hand Food fan. The S&P blue tube one is great too.

Norwegian formula.
Cheap as chips, not greasy, DS uses it on his eczema, comes unscented and you can just throw it in the trolley at Tesco.

I read that Kate Winslet loves the Lancome Nutrix hand cream so I went to have a look at the airport this summer. Nearly fainted when I saw it was 48 euro duty free!!! Presumably she likes it because it's just free for her!

Simple does an excellent dry skin hand cream, highly effective but boringly non-smelly.

I used to get terrible dry hands and tried loads of expensive hand creams. Many rubbed in well and smelt lovely, but none did anywhere near as good a job as neutrogena. It's brilliant, rubs in well and you notice the difference immediately.

I, too, have found l'Occitane very impressive (the one for dry skin, that is - the lighter, scented ones aren't heavy-duty enough for me).

It's thick but absorbs very quickly - essential for me as I like reading in bed after applying it at night and hate greasy marks all over my books.
