My hands have recently started to get very dry and I have tried a couple of supermarket own brand hand creams which haven't worked at all. Can anyone recommend a decent one? Not bothered about price, just want it to do the job!

Body Shop's hemp handcream is fantastic. My hands get deep cracks and bleed and this is the best cream I have tried.

minipen · 08/08/2011 23:03

another vote for soap & Glory hand food

LuckyMrsT · 08/08/2011 23:10

Aveeno cream here too.

Grockle · 08/08/2011 23:11

Flexitol - I have bad eczema and ut works better than my prescription lotions

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 08/08/2011 23:15

clarins or crabtree and & evelyn la source both work for my dry hands.

LakeFlyPie · 08/08/2011 23:16

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour hand cream is great and I've recently discovered Aveeno hand cream which I think I actually prefer ATM

June2009 · 08/08/2011 23:18

i use atrixo during the day and nivea at night (greasier).

ClaireDeLoon · 08/08/2011 23:21

L'Occitane Shea butter is great for dry skin.

But also look at your soap. I had very dry skin with a touch of eczema in winter when I used a hand wash. I asked on here and people recommended I try a solid soap, I did and dry skin and eczema cleared up. I've since found the l'occitane liquid soap with Shea butter is just as good as solid soap.

I was given some Quercus hand cream by Penhaligons - it's like magic potion. I'm longtime nail biter/split nails/ raggy cuticles and when I remember to apply this regularly my hands and nails are transformed.

Thecatsmum · 09/08/2011 09:26

Aveda, smells divine, pricey but worth it as a little goes a long way.

daimbardiva · 09/08/2011 11:13

Soap and Glory Hand Food. Works really well, not greasy and smells nice and not over powering.

I also like old school Atrixo!

HappyAsIAm · 09/08/2011 11:19

To add to the mix, I think the rose Cath Kidson one is really nice. I get it in Waitrose for about £7. I would buy it again and again.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 09/08/2011 11:50

Dr Organic Olive Oil hand cream I get it in Holland & Barrett. Not too expensive, nice and rich, not overperfumed.

MissKittyEliza · 09/08/2011 12:09

Crabtree & Evelyn ...... The gardening one. Smells Devine too! I use this as a neck cream and DH always comments how nice I smell!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 09/08/2011 12:10

Kitty, that's an interesting idea. Is it good as a neck cream?

MissKittyEliza · 09/08/2011 12:54

Well, it's very unctuous.....in a good way! It "fattens up" my thin turkey neck and as I say, the fragrance usually gets people asking what I have "on"

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 09/08/2011 12:56

Soudns good; might try it. Thanks!

razzlew6 · 09/08/2011 12:58

The Crabtree Source scrub is AMAZING. But since my DS got eczema I've been using his Diprobase ointment for my hands - does a brilliant job!!

chardom · 09/08/2011 13:16

Thanks for all your replies! Am going to start with Soap + Glory and work my way through the others!! :)

I am currently using the Soap & Glory one and am finding it pretty good and it smells really lovely too.

Aveeno - smells a bit like rubbing weetabix or porridge oats into your hands ?!

L'Occitane Cherry Blossom one - smells gorgeous but not really very good, plus pricey

Crabtree & Evelyn - I liked the one that comes in the green tube and smells of lemon. Was very nice and smelt lovely but quite pricey.

Body Shop Hemp - seems to work well but stinks to high heaven

Sharney · 11/08/2011 23:41

I too like the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour hand cream and I love the smell of the Origins ginger souffle hand cream. It's not bri

Marlinspike · 12/08/2011 00:00

Another vote for Body Shop hemp handcream - I have small tubes of it in the kitchen; in many of my handbags; at work; my bedside table.... It's great!

clazi · 12/08/2011 09:30

soap & glory's endless glove (blue tube) as an overnight treatment is unbeatable!

Sharney · 12/08/2011 09:37

Oops, got distracted. Was saying the Origins cream is not brilliant if your hands need deep conditioning but it smells divine.

MissPenteuth · 12/08/2011 10:05

Another vote for Soap & Glory Hand Food. Rich but not greasy, and has a lovely vintage smell.
