I read on the net you could use it as a facial oil so gave it a shot. It's been amazing! My skin is painfully dry though, not sure if would work on oily skin.

I used a bit as a hair serum and was brill as well, so much better than that bloody Emperor's New Clothes Moroccan Oil which is mostly silicones anyway.

I do not work for the Avocado Oil Board, btw.

I used to live in Brazil, everyone had lots of avocado trees and lots of locals used the fruit mash to condition their hair. (Everybody had amazing, glossy, tresses, too.)

PerAr6ua · 11/07/2011 20:23

How old are you goat? I need to know all...

MissFoodie · 11/07/2011 20:24

all the best face oils have avocado oil in them - I'm amazed at the crap people put on their skin when there are simple natural products out there that cost less and actually work!

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 11/07/2011 20:26

I'm 36. Dry skin, good texture but fine lines now qualify as wrinkles Sad

I shall now be peering in the mirror for the rest of the day, so shall report back on long-term effects!

I got it at the supermarket. I'm sure somewhere like Waitrose would have it. I would just make sure it is 100% pure.

My (oily) skin always looks better in the morning if I've put oil on it

I used to use Body Shop Carrot facial oil which was fab, now discontinued

So i use Decleor oil instead now. it does make yo look great when you wake up, all even toned. Unfortunately I become red and blotchy again when I wash my face....

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 11/07/2011 20:32

Bottom Butter I liked but not sure how effective it was on me, I didn't feel like it actually soaked in.

I have skin drier than the sahara and avocado oil in the cupboard. Mmm.

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 11/07/2011 20:35

Get in there PerArdua! I dampened my face a little bit first. I wouldn't wear it during the day in case the sun literally fried your skin!

I use Avocado oil in soap (i make soap in my spare time) and it is fabby stuff. I;ve never used it on my face though. Hmmm, might try that.

ohanotherone · 11/07/2011 20:42

I'm gonna try it XXXXX

Lulumama · 11/07/2011 20:46

I have used cheapo almond oil for the last 2 years , no wrinkles here. i pay under £3 in superdrug for it and it lasts ages.

cosysocks · 11/07/2011 22:21

oil method! pure genius for someone like me, patchy dry skin then very oily forehead.

fustyarse · 12/07/2011 10:09

superdrug vitamin e oil is FAB as a nighttime moisturiser, and cheap as chips

will have a look for avocado oil too

grumpypants · 12/07/2011 10:12

cooking or skin care aisle? Grin

Belo · 13/07/2011 14:57

Ocado don't stock it...

We went on holiday to Crete at April and when to a shop which only sold Avacado products. I bought creams, oils and soaps and all feel fab to use. Apparently the oil is good to thicken up hair, and to prevent hair loss as well as being a good moisturiser and a good cure for Psoriasis.

Wish I could find somewhere which sells it over here....

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/07/2011 15:16

Im sure I got mine in sainsburys. I have tried it but it doesnt seem to work on my hair or skin.

MissFoodie · 13/07/2011 20:00

SUTI's nourish face oil contains avocado, as well as a whole load of other goodies - I use it a lot, full review here:
yumetc.blogspot.com/2011/06/suti-organic-skincare.html
For other face oils, see here, including Liz Earle which also contains avocado oil: yumetc.blogspot.com/2011/03/nourish-me.html
If you want to buy the oil alone, there are loads of places/brands, but I recommend Fushi, their oils are v good, plus organic: www.fushi.co.uk/products/avocado-oil--organic__010414.aspx

Pin0t · 13/07/2011 20:58

Seriously, oil works on oily skin? Really?

fishie · 13/07/2011 21:19

proper argan oil from french supermarche also does ths for me. right with you on the hateful moroccan oil shitola goaty.

MissFoodie · 13/07/2011 21:49

Pinot - YES - even those with acne should use it, as a)oil attracts oil and b)stripping skin will just make it worse. The best oil for that skin type is Jojoba, it's actually the closest thing to our natural sebum.
Also a great eye make up remover!
ps, to clarify, if you have very oily skin then avocado will be too heavy for you, try the Jojoba

MissFoodie · 13/07/2011 21:50

Fishie LOL

JoeyKate · 13/07/2011 22:38

Pin0t, I have wrecked my oily skin over the years by using commercial products that don't work, and recently the best ting I've discovered is to cleanse with extra virgin olive oil, steam it with a hot flannel, then wipe off any excess with the flannel. The results are mega clean and glowing, my pores seem to 'sing' and it's like a little facelift. Reading the posts above I'd like to try the other oils too. I won't go back to bought cleansers again.
