wot no trainers?

I HATE monk straps - never knew that's what they were called before!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 23/05/2011 15:40

No Converse?

DH has: Converse (updated every 2 months), Wedding Shoes, Sandals (for late night fag in the garden) and slippers.

otchayaniye · 23/05/2011 15:41

Ah, men and their bad shoes. I rarely see men in good shoes. Rarely. It's a crime in this day and age. Even in smart shoes I see many a man ruin it with some hideous slightly pointy reworking of the oxford.

The only time a man should wear trainers is if he is running or playing sports.

The only time a man should wear a flip flop is at the beach or to the pool

Anything too tooled, too overtly fashionable, too outre is just asking to be looked at as a heel (no pun intended)

Nice tan brogue. Nice pair of oxblood cordovans, a good black shoe, a driving shoe and some sturdy boots (either a work boot or a chelsea) is what is required. That list above is a little comprehensive.

Mumswang · 23/05/2011 15:42

Hmmmm mine just has trainers a sports casual and work boots. But then it could be argued that he is no gentleman either

otchayaniye · 23/05/2011 15:45

Can't understand the obsession with Converse. They are cheap and nasty and uncomfortable and only look good in a sort of grungey way, on young people, a style which any decent man will have left behind in his early twenties (along with playing with computer games)

HugoFirst · 23/05/2011 15:48

those VERY pointy shoes are odd

IMo every man needs "pub shoes" smarter trainers for "beer on the floor" kind of mens pubs

OP posts:
Gandalfthedyed · 23/05/2011 15:49

Slip on?

No. Not in any society, civilised or otherwise. And most certainly not with white socks.

HugoFirst · 23/05/2011 15:49

Italians are keen on a shoe arent they
never black and OFTEN slip on.

ShatnersBassoon · 23/05/2011 15:50

DH has a pair of casual shoes aka The Brown Fogeys, work shoes, boots and running shoes. There are also some old Green Flash knocking around for garden wear only, and wellies too.

He'd end up crying with confusion if his shoe collection was as extensive as that list.

HugoFirst · 23/05/2011 15:50

should a man have a deck shoe? or a mocaasin? ( imagine that said in a waynetta slob posh voice)

Those monk straps ( I didn't know they were called that) are Hideous. Like the sort of shoes boys are made to wear on their first day at Big School.

DP has two pairs of Oliver Sweeney shoes, but lives in trainers/timberlands or flip flops.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 23/05/2011 15:52

I despiiiiiise black shoes. And slip ons. Yuk. I hate all trainers as well. No excuse for wearing them when not taking exercise.

HugoFirst · 23/05/2011 15:52

should a man not have a loafer?
was that on teh list?
liek this? www.next.co.uk/x47614s4#358575x47

i hate mens shoes that are walked over on and are lopsided

OP posts:
TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 23/05/2011 15:53

Unless the bloke lives in Fulham, has a trust fund and is a cunt rah - I see no reason for that shoe list.

BertieBotts · 23/05/2011 15:53

DP has one pair of black trainers, bought from the market about 3 years ago. They are falling apart. And some smart black shoes for work, but that's it.

HugoFirst · 23/05/2011 15:54

two pairs?
friging hell
black trainers are ew

OP posts:
izzybiz · 23/05/2011 15:59

Dh has Smart black leather shoes (Bought for our wedding)
Smart tan leather shoes (For wearing with suits)
Casual brown leather shoes for wearing out when no trainers allowed
Running trainers
Going out pumps (grey Superdry ones, like a posh converse)
Work boots
Flip flops for holiday

Wow, didn't realise he had that many!
