Fair do.
As long as your not marking them out as aspirational footwear.

Does the 25 include crocs?

tabulahrasa · 23/05/2011 16:05

DP has

Work boots, safety ones
football boots
trainers (similar to hugo's pub ones, not full on sporty ones)
a pair of horrible, horrible black cuban heeled boots that he wears to the pub
and crocs, because apparently they're comfy

and yet there's still a pair dumped on the floor in every room, even with just 5 pairs in total Hmm

COCKadoodledooo · 23/05/2011 16:12

Dh has a pair of Loakes - leather, leather soled, v plain (no stitching, not brogues) 4 eyelets a side, v narrow laces. Not sure what they are, so couldn't tell you if they were on the list!

otchayaniye · 23/05/2011 16:18

Sound like Oxfords

shortround · 23/05/2011 16:22

Eeeew at the monk shoes!! Dh has a very limited supply of shoes, his and my idea of wardrobe for him couldn't be more different!!

He has Brown brogue loakes and black brogue loakes, then a black smooth pair (loakes) for black tie doe's. Casually he has diesel dap things, and some leather desert type boots that are old but he loves them, along with a very vintage pair of cat boots and some leather brown sandal mule things for summer.

Fimbo · 23/05/2011 16:26

My dad is 78 and wears those monk strap monstrosities. Crime against shoes.

Dh has the Timothy Everest Brogues for M & S in tan.

He has Loakes for work which he bought in Jones.

Camper for casual but mainly lives in trainers the rest of the time.

Oh and a pair of North Face shoes that have seen better days...

Fimbo · 23/05/2011 16:27

Oh and cheapo Millets crocs for gardening.

He wouldn't be seen dead in converse or any type of sandal.

bumblingbovine · 23/05/2011 16:31

dh also has trainers (cross trainer type ones), smarter work shoes (black I am afraid) and sandals. That is it I am afraid

purplepidjin · 23/05/2011 16:34

I secretly think my dp is a girl. He has more shoes than I do and thinks £400 is a reasonable amount to pay for smart ones Shock

I have etnies, strappy pair, interview and a couple of pairs of doc martens plus various primarni etc

jaffacake79 · 23/05/2011 16:35

Oh lord, my dh has more shoes than me!

2 pairs of workout trainers (he alternates days in them)
2 pairs of casual trainers
Biker boots
Heavy work boots
Smart dress boots
Black smart work shoes (there must be at least 4 or 5 pairs in the wardrobe)
Tan smart work shoes (I think there's 2 or 3 pairs of these)
Tan casual type shoes (The sort he'd wear with nice jeans and a jacket)
Flip flops (2 pairs I think)
Sports sandals

I could go on, it's mental!

BadPoet · 23/05/2011 16:35

DH is a nightmare with his shoes. He in rendered incapable by walking into a shoe shop. None of his shoes go with his clothes (I'm exaggerating, but what kind of a person buys brown shoes and then only black or grey work clothes?)

He wear waterproof trainers on his commute to work and now thinks he's cutting edge because when I was working in London I saw a lot of workwear & trainers on both men and women. To be fair, this is quite sensible because he often ends up sprinting for trains.

He has also been known to wear socks and Birkenstocks.

I will give him this list. or Otch's list.

HugoFirst · 23/05/2011 16:39

I hate men wearing walking boots as leisure wear

OP posts:
shortround · 23/05/2011 17:26

I didnt realise we should count trainers, they are for the gym arnt they?

ChippyMinton · 23/05/2011 17:27

DH has
black oxfords - (for work/weddings/funerals etc)
vile Merrell sandal/trainer combo (for the summer)
yummy soft brown suede casual lace-up shoes (for posing)
brown deck shoes (for any other shoe-wearing occasion)
running shoes (strictly for running)
rigger boots (ostensibly for work but actually for the bedroom gardening)
oxblood DMs (no idea what these are for - chanelling his inner-skinhead or 1970s schoolboy possibly)
some vile flipfloppy things (for camping/beach)
cycling shoes (for cycling)
walking boots (for hill-walking)
moccasin slippers (for putting feet up)

GetOrfMoiCase · 23/05/2011 17:32

I couldn't sleep with a man who wore mocassins.

They remind me of those VILE slip on black shoes with toggles on which were all the rage in the 80s, worn with black trousers with coloured flecks on and a baggy shirt tucked in.

Urgh.

DPhas

Black chelsea boot type things
896 pairs of converse/superdry
Pair of nike running shoes
loads of havainas (unisex, we have same size feet)
Brown leather flip flop things which weigh more than a car
Several pairs of casual shoe/trainer casual things to wear with jeans
Motorbike boots
A whole other collection of work shoes which live in the garage

TheProvincialLady · 23/05/2011 17:33

Realistically, most men own:

A pair of shoes they bought when they were best man at a wedding in 1996. Too small.

A pair of revolting trainer/casual shoes things that they insist on wearing even though they look and smell appalling. May be converse or converse-alike.

The shoes they wear to work. Quite likely to be seriously down at heel but as they cost more than he wanted to pay, he is bloody well going to keep wearing them.

Some kind of hideous sandal. Probably brown with velcro.

I simply do not believe that more than 5% of men have anything other than the above. And if they did, they would look like that tperson who is the Guardian male style editor and always looks like a tosser.

ChippyMinton · 23/05/2011 17:34

Ooh yes, the sort of rolled-up leather tassels?
DH's are soft slippers though, a very far distant cousin, in soft suede.

TheProvincialLady · 23/05/2011 17:34

Disclaimer: sports/hobby shoes discounted obviously.

cordyblue · 23/05/2011 17:36

DH has:

black oxfords
brown half oxford (think these are what wing tips are)
black dress shoes
black ballroom dancing shoes
brown waterproof boots
grey crocs for camping showers
trainers and football boots (for the now rare times he plays 5 a side!)

WillieWaggledagger · 23/05/2011 17:45

my dad has all those shoes. but then he also has town suits and country (ie anywhere outside London) suits

monstersX2 · 23/05/2011 17:46

If my husband had those shoes in his wardrobe he would be long gone!! Wink

HugoFirst · 23/05/2011 17:47

I'm amazed you can itemize someone else's shoes. I have monied what shoes h has

OP posts:
pallymama · 23/05/2011 17:51

That's 11 pairs!
DH and I have 10 pairs of shoes between us! Hmm
Can we count slippers? We'd total more if we're allowed to count slippers! Grin

LynetteScavo · 23/05/2011 17:55

DH has LOTS of shoes, but no Chelsea boot. Sadly.

WTF are Derby boots?
