I haven't but I have been thinking about it. I have thread veins around my nostrils which I cover with concealer everyday.

Is the pain worth it? How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

brimfull · 19/04/2011 16:28

cost me £45 for 30 mins of treatment.
she started on my cheeks which tbh weren't too bad
it was my nostrils and sides of nose i was bothered about
am going to go back in 8 wks as there are a few on my chin to do and inside my nostrils..aaargh
I am a nurse and I'm going to see if I can get some lignicaine gel from work to dull the pain a bit

brimfull · 19/04/2011 16:32

does bonjela have lignocaine in it then??

Did you have laser or electrolysis? I've just had my second bout of electrolysis today for mine - and it really hurts. Much more than laser!

I don't envy you the inside of the nostrils - that's really sensitive there.

brimfull · 19/04/2011 16:33

diathermy
so presume that's electrolysis
can't believe I have booked another appt

cyb · 19/04/2011 16:36

ooh gg how interesting!

Will let you know how I get on with my appointment tomorrow

I'm more worried about getting down to Farnham in time afterwards to collect the boys by 5 tbh

brimfull · 19/04/2011 16:41

am going to change my name back
fed up of being ignored
are you having no 11's done??

OP posts:
cyb · 19/04/2011 16:50

Yes hopefully and crows feet and forehead lines

And I have to be in farnham by 5

cyb · 19/04/2011 16:51

and yes please change your name back

TheFarSide · 19/04/2011 16:53

Where do you get it done - a beauty salon or something? Are there any risks? I'm thinking of this myself.

TracyK · 19/04/2011 17:12

Take a couple of brufen before you go next time.

I had laser done on mine and I thought that was sore - and they don't look that much better tbh. She said I'd need 4 treatments!! eek 4 x £65 - hmm maybe go back to electrolysis - £25 and they all went (albeit they come back 18 months later).

Dropdeadfred · 19/04/2011 17:14

how bad were your veins? and how many needed zapping? i am considering this but sometimes my face looks fine then other days (if i get hot for instance) i can see them and i hate it

BecauseImWoeufIt · 19/04/2011 17:14

I've had laser and I've also had sclerotherapy - they all work, but the veins (IME) do come back.

Laser is the least painful method, but it's more expensive.

brimfull - try using Germolene if you've got some - it has an anaesthetic in it.

BecauseImWoeufIt · 19/04/2011 17:26

I didn't have that many, but if you looked closely they were quite visible - but nose always looked red on either side, in the crease, so I have to wear concealer.

I have had two treatments so far, 2 weeks apart - next appointment is in 6 weeks time and hopefully will be the last one

Dropdeadfred · 19/04/2011 18:02

cyb...are you in surrey?
whereabouts would you recommend? is it botox you are having too?

mumtoted · 19/04/2011 18:04

I had the electrolysis type on my veins, and used ametop gel before I went, covered in clingfilm! It was so painful without it the first time I had it done and the therapist recommended it. It was still painful but helped alot.

And the veins did come back (after having a baby).

cyb · 19/04/2011 19:16

DropDead yes am in Surrey. I iniatially asked about a vein under my eye being lasered but but the clinician said no way. But she said botox might help make my eyes look less tired so I'm going for it

Its in Chertsey but my mate says theres a place in Kingston does it brilliantly and she's an old hand

brimfull · 19/04/2011 21:08

mine weren't awful tbh
most think I am mad getting it done
but I wear concealor on my nose most days
would be pleased not to have to wear concealor and foundation to cover them up
I got it done at beauty salon

So far I am qute pleased with the results although i can feel tiny scabby bits and deperately want to pick them off

BecauseImWoeufIt · 19/04/2011 21:11

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Don't do it!

ggirl · 19/04/2011 21:14

huh??
too late mate

maryjane71 · 19/04/2011 21:14

Does anyone know what causes these little veins? I have them creeping up either side of my nose

ggirl · 19/04/2011 21:15

mine were caused by cold weather and
allergies causing me to blow my nose like a fucking rhino every morning
and supposedly ...alcohol

BecauseImWoeufIt · 19/04/2011 21:16

No - I meant don't pick them, ggirl!

maryjane71 - they can be hereditary, or they can be caused by all manner of things. If you're fair skinned, have sensitive skin, through exposure to the sun. Alcohol/spicy food/caffeine are all, I believe, also implicated.

ggirl · 19/04/2011 21:20

ahh
s'ok
I have resisted so far
I was told not to put anything on my skin for 3 days!
No cream,soap,water..makeup!! aargh
