Is this ok for a wedding?

here

It's a posh wedding in a French chateau, all dayer and on until 3am (gulp) Lots of skeletal immaculate French women, but they wear black at weddings don't they? I thought it looked rather chic.

How would I accessorise?

a bit english

HF you don't have to believe in PmcK you just have to listen to it, I'm a convert.

There are some lovely looking red dresses on the JL site

Lollypolly · 15/04/2011 16:14

I got married in Paris and a couple of guests wore black. Even in Paris the Brits were more dressed up than the French. I like your dress and don't think black is a problem but the floaty layer over the top makes me think of funeral veils.....

headfairy · 15/04/2011 16:15

it's as dull as ditchwater but this is the shape I think looks best on me Nice print though...

so get that then
i dont liek it mind.
a bit young

headfairy · 15/04/2011 16:17

oh now that last one clancy/KW... the green version is nice (silk Boden party dress thingy)

It's all just a bit... dull though. I had my sights on a Vivienne Westwood beauty but I just can't justify spending £450 when cash isn't exactly growing on our trees at home.

no, dont then
and think of resale value on ebay

headfairy · 15/04/2011 16:18

Really rookie You can just listen to it, go "pah" and the weight falls off? Where do I sign? :o

I have tried that Riviera dress on in both Size 12 & 14 - didn't work in either of them, but not suitable for wedding not dressy enough sorry , colour block is better

jamaisjedors · 15/04/2011 16:20

no boden here so no chance of others dressed the same.

jamaisjedors · 15/04/2011 16:24

crocus blueberry nice I think - but then I liked the red one so what do I know?!

headfairy · 15/04/2011 16:29

rookie, I was really only using that as an indicator of shape... I don't think that one's smart enough either. That's one you'd wear sight seeing around Florence or Rome (in magazines... in the real world you'd be wearing a stained tee shirt, ancient shorts and flip flops :o)

Yes you are right, and a good reason for me not to buy it, my holidays seem to consist of me running round DS with sunscreen like a bluearsedfly whilst DH reads the paper Grin. Shape is lovely though.

UnseenAcademicalMum · 15/04/2011 16:35

What about this? The colour should work well and with a pair of killer heels and some fabulous jewellery it would look good for a wedding.

headfairy · 15/04/2011 16:45

What do we think of this? M&S maxi

or this - I could be losing the plot on this one

OP posts:
headfairy · 15/04/2011 16:46

lovely colour unseen but the shape's all wrong for me. I need a bit of volume in the skirt to give balance.

I actually really like the first dress you linked to, if you accessorized with lighter shawl, shoes, bag I think black is fine. I wore black as a bridesmaid a few years back and wore black to two weddings last year.

I need someone to get married this year so I can wear one of these

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2011 17:02

Don't like the red maxi but do quite like the second one, although it may be too high necked if norky? And the shoes they've put it with look ridiculous. And it would depend on the fabric - if it's polyester = bad / silk = good.

Not overly fond of the red one in your pic, sorry. You've got a lovely face but the dress looks too short and frilly imho.

It would be worth trying an Anglomania one on - she knows about curves!

headfairy · 15/04/2011 17:25

Arse, why can't I afford this

OP posts:
headfairy · 15/04/2011 17:27

are you sure I can't wear black?

OP posts:
jamaisjedors · 15/04/2011 17:35

outnet maxi and sludgy!

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2011 17:52

Yum to that VW one!
