Anyone else feel the quality of NEXT jeans has gone poor.?

Or is it just me...

Bought these for about the last 18 months.

I boight my 1st pair and replaced them with the same style/model about 4-6 months later due to the fact that the bottoms had become ragged (im short 4ft 11 and even the petite need altering but I don't always get them done due to time and cost etc..). I can live with replacing them because of this.... BUT today I have noticed that in the last 4 months I have had to replace 3 pairs Shock.

AND its not the bottoms that are forcing me to replace them BUT the fact they have gone in my nether region Blush. Well not the bum exactly but more inbetween/back of legs iykwim...

They are the cheaper end of next jeans at £22 a pair and I do wear them everyday (execpt give and take in the summer..) BUT this isn't right is it..?

Im quite tempted to write into next and say..

I love their jeans, fit fab, wash well and are comfy for me BUT this is now annoying me...

Im a size 14 and the jeans are a good fit, not tight with some room iykiwm...

anyone else the same..?

Shhhhh I'm 5ft2 and a size 10/12 depending on the cut of the jeans.

I've just put a pair of next jeans in the bin that were only months old because they had a hole forming in the same place - a line of worn-ness round my nether regions

Shhhh · 10/04/2011 20:38

same as what i had !!
seemed to have gone very thin in that area and then holey Hmm

i have just emailed next cs.. will see what they say. v poor quality imo. seems to have changed as well Hmm

littlemisslozza · 10/04/2011 20:40

I took a pair back that I'd had for 3 months, a hole in the knee had developed and I was not impressed. They swapped them for new ones and I know of a couple of other people who this has happened to.

blondebutonlyfaking · 10/04/2011 20:42

Emmm maybe TMI but from the bottom of my bum, about 3 inches, going round to the curve of my arse?

If I'd had the receipt I'd have taken them back.

So where does a shortie with a big behind get decent jeans???

Melty · 10/04/2011 20:43

I think the quality of all Next clothes has deteriorated. I don't buy there any more.
Cardigans for work or those inset tops look smart for a couple of washes, then only look fit for the bin.
They have got cheaper, but the quality is awful these days.

Shhhh · 10/04/2011 20:46

interesting... I may direct mr next to this thread..Hmm.

sounds like same as mine bbof.. thing is, I dont think its down to wear iykiwm as I barely sit down all day... and my bum hardly tries to escape ShockGrin but still it seems to thin in this area..Hmm

melty, you have a point. Don;t think I have bought miuch in there recently. Never really see anything I like.

FWIW I also think their sizes have changed.

I have a pair of jeans from a couple of years ago that are still going strong and they are a 10.

The last time I was in, I was DEFINITELY a 12

loftyjen · 10/04/2011 21:09

Am so glad to see this thread - pretty much in the same position with boyfriend cut jeans I bought about 8wks ago, was worried it was a sign my thighs had somehow increased in size without me realising. They were a like for like replacement for a pair I'd had last me over 2yrs, thought I was having to buy a size up as post baby, but think Blonde-b-o-faking is right and the sizes have changed.

So, where to go for petite leg size 14-16 jeans as think these are going to need replacing soon and really don't fancy going back to Next! x

BeakerTheMuppetMuppet · 10/04/2011 21:16

i thought it was me!

i refuse to buy Next jeans now, the 14/16 petite used to be a perfect fit for me, but they also seem to shrink in length, even though i never tumble dry them

and i know it's the fabric as i like them to fit ON the waist, but after a few washes they were getting a bit like hipster fit..no good on me Sad

blondebutonlyfaking · 10/04/2011 21:22

I did buy a pair of per una jeans from M&S and they do fit, but they are just not me

I AM NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE WEARING MARKS AND SPARKS JEANS

SarkyLady · 10/04/2011 21:38

I just sent a pair back to next after wearing twice.

The knees went baggy and they trashed a pair of tan boots by staining them blue.

Not happy.

blondebutonlyfaking · 10/04/2011 21:41

So, the general consenus is, Next Jeans have gone down the pan and are rubbish quality with dodgy sizing?

thinNigella · 10/04/2011 21:57

I have recently stopped buying Next stuff. It's rubbish and the kids stuff can look trashy IMO.

I now spend more but buy less, and i have had more compliments since I changed my purchsing policy Grin

blondebutonlyfaking · 10/04/2011 21:59

where do you buy now thinNigella

We Need To Know

redvelvetmooncupcake · 10/04/2011 22:05

Short + big arse + need jeans = TOPSHOP

They do 30" leg as well as their petite (I assume it's a 28" or 29" as bit too short for me), and it's a myth that their sizes are stingy, I'm the same size in there as anywhere else. Good quality for £40, I have had most of mine for 5/6 years now.

Shhhh · 10/04/2011 22:59

topshop... really Hmm I have not shopped in topshop for hmmm... 10 years+ Shock Really thought that once I had kids etc my topshop days were over !

So their jeans are good fit..? I shall take a look. Thing is, I don't mind paying more than next if they last longer than these have..

being a sahm I live in mine but glad to see a 6 week trash time is poor!

Yes, I emailed NEXT and I will advise them of this thread... quite interested to see what they think. I am tempted to return these back to the store but a bit Blush iykiwm....

I read something recently about how Next are rising out the credit crumnch by lowering their prices/not putting them up. In order to be able to do this without profits been affected they're redusing the quality of their materials. You can so tell = some of their tops are Primark quality but 3x the price of Primark. I'd rather pay more and it be better quality.

sharbie · 11/04/2011 00:06

i had to take a xmas cardi back the other day as it had fallen apart around the neck iykwim.
they refunded with receipt no problem as the assistant and the manageress had same cardi and guess what... the same had happened to theirs.
have never had this happen to anything before - terrible quality.

jimmycarr · 11/04/2011 10:34

I always buy Next jeans too. All have mine have worn between the legs but only after aaaages wearing them. My gripe is that they fit nicely when your first wear them after washing but gradually ger baggier and baggier until you wash them again Confused

MrsPlugThePlumber · 11/04/2011 10:39

Yes, agree wholeheartedly with JimmyCarr,

When trying on, I mentally allow for the inevitable bagginess. Mine also wear between the legs, but I always thought it was because I have chunky thighs.

jerURSULAmBuffay · 11/04/2011 10:41

Yes, all next clothing gone down in quality & up in price but I used to love their jeans & the last 2 pairs I've bought have had holes in or around the zip fly area. Really annoying to have to sew up new jeans so sent them back.

jerURSULAmBuffay · 11/04/2011 10:47

and am so relieved that blonde also reckons their sizes have changed- my old next jeans were a 14 but new ones in 14 are too small, although I've put on weight the old ones still fit - with room!

ScroobiousPip · 11/04/2011 10:54

So glad it's not just me. I've bought those same bootcut ones as you for years Shhh, whenever I've been in the UK. The oldest pair is fab, although finally worn through at the knees. But, every pair I've bought since has gaped at the waist within a couple of washes and then I get horrid builders bum. Don't know what they've done to the material but they're awful now. I just hate the fact that they look good in the shop and then go baggy so quickly. Rubbish.

Oh, and the stitching on my Next jumper fell apart at the shoulder really quickly.
