Anyone else feel the quality of NEXT jeans has gone poor.?

Or is it just me...

Bought these for about the last 18 months.

I boight my 1st pair and replaced them with the same style/model about 4-6 months later due to the fact that the bottoms had become ragged (im short 4ft 11 and even the petite need altering but I don't always get them done due to time and cost etc..). I can live with replacing them because of this.... BUT today I have noticed that in the last 4 months I have had to replace 3 pairs Shock.

AND its not the bottoms that are forcing me to replace them BUT the fact they have gone in my nether region Blush. Well not the bum exactly but more inbetween/back of legs iykwim...

They are the cheaper end of next jeans at £22 a pair and I do wear them everyday (execpt give and take in the summer..) BUT this isn't right is it..?

Im quite tempted to write into next and say..

I love their jeans, fit fab, wash well and are comfy for me BUT this is now annoying me...

Im a size 14 and the jeans are a good fit, not tight with some room iykiwm...

anyone else the same..?

I bought a pair of high waisted skinny jeans a month ago - they have gone baggy at the thigh and knee. I have worn them maybe 4 times and washed them once - utter crud.

I'd also second that the sizes have got smaller, not just jeans but all trousers. I went to buy (shh) a pair of navy linen trews to replace the next ones I've had for a few summers but had to size up and the material is thinner than my older ones.

Going to the Gap!

quality is dreadful and the summer stuff they bring out every year is just the same as last but different colours!

I much prefer autograph at M&S jeans and shoes from clarks these days!

WRT jeans i buy 14 tall i don't seem to have a problem with crotch/bu, area but have had to replace the zipper on several pairs, v.few other stores do a leg length long enough for me without paying over £100 Shock

but i did buy my coat from next last winter, i loved the style and suited me better than any coat i've had in years, however i lost so many buttons that had to buy a whole new set and remove old ones and sew on new ones, buttons fell off several times over the winter, coat is now in the bin it last for the 2 coldest months. Angry

kids shoes i don't buy from next as for a pair of trainers for DS its minimum of £16 whereas i can get converse/nike/adidas for £20-£25 so i just by branded as not much difference in price. DS is only 2yo though so i imagine branded will gradually get more expensive as he gets bigger.

edward, what I cut off the bottoms of my jeans you can sew onto the bottoms of yours Grin

Still gutted about my coat though.
I have defo noticed an increase in prices in next and decrease in quality though.
I saw a beautiful top in next last summer floaty orange vest thing v.thin but very pretty it was £45 Shock I still really like it but not worth that!!!

Its not just the ladies clothing that has gone down in quality, so has the kids. I bought my son a pair of nice trousers for xmas 2010 and they split across the knee so I bought him another pair in Feb 2011 and guess what - they too have split across the knee !! I have emailed Next and am waiting to see what they say :-(

I'm really disappointed with Next too. I actually cancelled my Next Directory account last year as I didn't like the styles they were putting out to customers.... This year I've ventured back into the store and bought a pair of turn-up chinos and a top. I bought them a couple of months back, so the receipt would be invalid and it probably got binned anyway. I've not worn the new items until today and, on first wear, one of the buttons on the trousers has come off and there material on the elasticated waist of the top has come away at the seams. Really annoyed at myself for being drawn back into the Next web.....

Agree with the comments about shabby kids' clothes too. I used to by my son's clothes there all the time but they now look a bit (sorry for use of this word) common and I now buy his things at M&S, Boden and Joules. These shops are more expensive, but the quality is better and they wash well.

Will think twice before buying in Next again......

vintageteacups · 01/05/2011 17:12

Agree completely about them wearing between the thighs. I've just had to order another couple of pairs due to mine almost splitting in the thigh seam (and no I haven't put weight on).

It's so annoying because the rest of the material is wearing well. Mine have always gone in the thigh seam first and yes, after one wear, they normally go baggy and need washing again.

The whole point of a good denim is that it doesn't need washing every day; they had to be durable for cowboys who were out for days and weeks at a time.

It also annoys me that Next never do the same cut/style after each season and they change the numbers on them.

4madboys · 01/05/2011 17:26

interesting to find this thread, i have had the same issue with next jeans wearing thin and then getting a hole in them at the top of my thighs/in my crotch area, most annoying!

i currenlty have some dorothy perkins jeans that are a good fit and seem to be lasting ok :)

CeliaFate · 01/05/2011 17:29

Everything from Next has become poor quality IMO. I bought cotton long sleeved tops that have arms so tight I have to wrench them apart (and I have thin arms!) Ridiculous quality, I used to buy everything I wore from Next, now I barely go in the place.

Deaddei · 01/05/2011 19:54

I buy from their tall range sporadically if needs must.
Bought their premium denim jeans which after one wash went fuzzy.
They are now in the bin.
