I shave in summer, if I'm going to wear shorts etc. (But only below the knees. And really, I know I shouldn't, but still, I do. Very pale skin, very dark hair.)

In winter, I keep the hair. I never wear sheer tights (barely ever wear tights), so why bother?

I also don't shave pits. Hairy armpits don't look nice, but nor do hairless armpits. I don't wear girly shirts without sleeves, though.

gigglinggoblin · 30/10/2005 21:43

i do them occasionally but am so blonde you cant tell unless you get really close. so its only for my benefit if i do it.

HRHQoQ · 30/10/2005 21:43

but Charlee - you can't even see mine - unless you've got your nose on my legs...in which case you'd probably get a slap for being so bl**dy nosey

princesspeahead · 30/10/2005 21:44

LOL I shave but only when i get hairy enough! or i want to ware a sleevless vest or something! weve all gone back to cave women days!!!

HRHQoQ · 30/10/2005 21:46

I have to confess this summer to occasionaly shaving my armpits - but that's only because I was brave and bought my first ever sleeveless tops at the start f the summer (I'm only 26............)

I did see one of the Mums from the School at swimming last week who hadn't shaved/waxed below and it was all hanging out of her swimming costume. Legs were also very hairy.

I am regularly at the pool/fitness classes baring my legs, bikini line or armpits so tend to be fairly well shaved.

Shudder - at the thought of hairy legs - yuck!!!

Get an epilator - relatively painless and takes a couple of minutes once a week to have smooth hairless limbs

NotQuiteCockney · 30/10/2005 21:48

Um, soapbox, does your DH have to shave then?

If hairy legs are so gross, why do we live with men who have 'em?

frannykenstein · 30/10/2005 21:50

I do them when I can be bothered.

Which is about 3 tines a year.

The hair is blonde, and stubble feels nasty.

Do do my armpits though...

soapbox · 30/10/2005 21:50

Men are just supposed to be hairy - laydees aren't

I had a weird dream the other night where my leg hair had grown really really long - about 3ft long, and was white and black mixed together. In my dream I looked like a badger coloured yeti - not a highly appealing look

gigglinggoblin · 30/10/2005 21:50

one of the mums at school wears pop socks with knee length skirts (so you can see the tops of the pop socks) and doesnt shave but has very dark, hairy legs. she is clearly very comfortable with herself (or blind)

princesspeahead · 30/10/2005 21:52

god we had a teacher at school who did that. a-line acrylic bias cut tartan skirts just on the knee, with pop socks half way up her calves. and the hair!

shudddddddddder

edam · 30/10/2005 21:54

I do my legs in the summer and in the winter if I'm wearing a skirt. Used to epilate/shave regularly to keep them bare but is one of the things I've stopped wasting time since having ds - was too bleary eyed to do it when he was tiny. Also stopped wearing eyeliner.

Very pale skin and very dark hair so not shaving = really noticeable. But if I'm wearing trousers, so what?

Amai · 30/10/2005 21:56

My legs are so hairy at the moment that my boyf wont come near me. I can't face shvign them as it would take two razors and many minutes by which time the bath would be cold with a floating carpet on it. My legs are harier than most men's i know and it is a real embarrasment. I know I am the only one in this position so don't all make fun of me. You all have natural feminine hairlessness or are fervent epilators.

Amai · 30/10/2005 21:57

princess sounds just like my french teacher at school. Must have been the fashion then.

katymac · 30/10/2005 21:58

I'm growing mine - so i can have them waxed for my holiday (how long do they have to be?)

MrsSpoon · 30/10/2005 21:59

I've got shares in Gillette.

Bozza · 30/10/2005 22:02

I've been shaving mine every morning in the shower for the last month without looking at them. Looked at them yesterday and they are very hairy. Think my razor blade must be very blunt.

Ericblack · 30/10/2005 22:04

This is quite yucky. I've never shaved my legs as they're not very hairy and was always told that the more you shave the hairier they get. However I have experimented with the Brazilian (I believe it's called). Can't tell you how unpleasant the consequences were as the hair grew back. And the first time I did my armpits was for a family picnic with my boyfriend when I was 19. Didn't dare to deoderise and ended up with red armpits with puss-filled spots DURING the picnic and smelling too. Hugely damaging experience.
