She only wears Tweed. Highly recommend not getting that one though. Will watch this thread with interest.

Don't know but have just ordered two cheap ones from T K Maxx which has loads for £10 today in their clearance.

I reckon you'd be spoily for choice there (Elizabeth Arden, Nina Ricci, etc).

LauraNorder · 31/03/2011 18:07

My mum is 64 so a wee bit younger and she wears Ghost but her fav is Dolce Vita.

MikeRotch · 31/03/2011 18:07

My Mum bought me some D an G 6 and decided she liked it so bought too

Might be too fruity though

emsyj · 31/03/2011 18:12

My mum is 71 (shortly to be 72!!!!) and she wears Estee Lauder - White Linen for day, Youth Dew or Knowing for evening.

Knowing is lovely IMO and very age-appropriate, without smelling old lady.

There is always the Chanel no5 classic but have to say I personally don't like it.

MikeRotch · 31/03/2011 18:13

i need to sniff knowing then

thecatatemygymsuit · 31/03/2011 18:13

My mum is almost 70 and wears First (Van Cleef & Arpels) - it's gorgeous.
And Rive Gauche by Yves St Laurent which is less so - think she's harking back to Paris 68 or something!

emsyj · 31/03/2011 18:14

I like Diorissimo but was told by the Dior lady not to buy it cos it was 'too old' for me. It is quite old lady I suppose. Blush I was about 25 at the time.

MikeRotch · 31/03/2011 18:14

Diorissimo is so flowery and lovely though
i can tell its out of style

emsyj · 31/03/2011 18:14

IMO Knowing is neither musky nor fruity! Just very lovely and smells to me of mum (in a nice way!)

noddyholder · 31/03/2011 18:15

cristalle here too

juneybean · 31/03/2011 18:15

My nana loves anais anais

BulletWithAName · 31/03/2011 18:15

My mum's favourites are Cristalle, Cristalle Eau Verte and Eternity by Calvin Klein. She's 51.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 31/03/2011 18:16

Oh God I was going to buy some cristalle for me Blush. Think I look old enough without starting to smell like old ladies.

thecatatemygymsuit · 31/03/2011 18:16

I still love Diorissimo - wore it as a teenager which seems odd now

thecatatemygymsuit · 31/03/2011 18:17

And I love Cristalle and Daisy - surely that's not an old lady smell?! What do all the youngsters wear then?

emsyj · 31/03/2011 18:17

Also try Pleasures for flowery loveliness and Coco Mademoiselle. MIL wears Coco Mademoiselle but is only 60...

I wear Angel (Thierry Mugler) and my mum's friend smelled it on me and liked it so much she bought it - she is even older than my mum!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 31/03/2011 18:18

Just remembered that she has recently dropped the Tweed off a little in favour of M&S Autograph and Samsara by Guerlain. She is nearly 76.

noddyholder · 31/03/2011 18:18

Elizabeth arden sunflower popular with mums
