Thats the one Paula.I think you can still get it at least we found some for dgm for Christmas. Perfume can evoke such strong memories of people.

AimingForSerenity · 31/03/2011 20:40

My mum is 80 and has discovered Jo Malone, the fragrances are timeless and she gets lots of compliments on them.

Mum loves Lime, Basil and Mandarin or English Pear and Freesia. Although these both have fruit in it's not in that nasty synthetic, fruity scent way, they are really lovely and ageless IMO

bamboostalks · 31/03/2011 20:41

My mum always wore Joy, I find the smell so incredibly evocative of her. Sometimes I take out her treasured Hermes scarf for a sniff. Sad

wook · 31/03/2011 20:43

My mum wears First, it's gorgeous. She's under 70 though. My grandmother wears L'Air du Temps, it's beautiful on her!

wook · 31/03/2011 20:43

bamboo Joy is such a gorgeous scent...

whydobirdssuddenlyappear · 31/03/2011 20:44

Mine wears Mitsouko.
MIL wears Green Tea.

piratecat · 31/03/2011 20:44

my mum is 65 wears Beautiful Estee Lauder.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 31/03/2011 20:44

Mavis think that is my favourite perfume at the moment too, lovely isn't it.

Your DGM sounds lovely, my DGM thought that "scent is for fallen women", whatever that meant Grin

OrangeBernard · 31/03/2011 20:48

Miss Dior or l'air du temps for my mum. She's 62

Tamashii · 31/03/2011 20:53

emsyj My Mum wore EXACTLY the same collection of perfumes as yours!!!! Very classy ladies :)

Sparkles23 · 31/03/2011 21:07

My Mum is 63 and has always since we were little worn Paloma Picasso, I love it 'cause brings me back to my childhood.

DreamsInBinary · 31/03/2011 21:53

My mum and my MIL are both on the Rive Gauche.

nooka · 01/04/2011 06:51

My mother has only ever worn Chanel No5. She had (has?) a tiny little bottle and it was only ever a dab behind her ears with the stopper for very special occasions. Very evocative :) She was always a fairly undressy person, so it was a big deal to watch her getting dressed up when I was growing up.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/04/2011 06:58

Chanel Allure
But she wore Miss Dior when I was little.

foundwanting · 01/04/2011 10:10

My mum has loads, she's always changing. At the moment it is Dior J'Adore for daytime or (I think) Marc Jacobs Lola.

For evenings she has often had La Perla. Used to be difficult to track down, but Superdrug have the EDT now. The body lotion and bath oil are absolutely gorgeous if you can find them.

TruthSweet · 01/04/2011 10:37

My mum wears L'Aimant by Coty (like Becarooo's mum) and always has done. She also likes Freeshia scented toiletries (I think Yardley do one).

Becaroooo · 01/04/2011 10:51

truth...its a lovely smell isnt it? You can still get it at boots

TruthSweet · 01/04/2011 10:57

My mum seems to prefer the cream perfume version that you dab on your skin with a little spreader rather than the squirty kind so every time she gets the squirty kind it goes in the wardrobe for 'later' Confused. Why?

Becaroooo · 01/04/2011 11:10

Blimey...thats brought back memories...did you ever have one of those plastic daisies from Avon with creme perfume inside???

Smile Lord, I had some dreadful stuff from Avon as a youngster!

(I seem to remember a perfume bottle in the shape of a lamp too!!!?????)

MikeRotch · 02/04/2011 11:02
