Madame Rochas.

She only wears it when she's going out and it takes me right back to watching her put on her makeup and do her hair when I was about six.

BulletWithAName · 31/03/2011 18:20

thecateatemygymsuit-I'm 23 and my faves are Jean Paul Gaultier Classique and Cinema byYves Saint Laurent.

TooTiredToArgue · 31/03/2011 18:25

Avoid Tweed like the plague. Smells like loo cleaner.

TeenageWildlife · 31/03/2011 18:30

Mitsuko by Guerlain - i think that is my Mum in a bottle. Don't know what I'll do if I smell it when she's gone Sad

OnEdge · 31/03/2011 18:31

Paul Smith = Rose

MerylStrop · 31/03/2011 18:31

Chanel No 5
just the merest touch

noddyholder · 31/03/2011 18:31

I love paul smith rose

thecatatemygymsuit · 31/03/2011 18:33

Bullet, I have never even heard of Cinema - must be out of touch!
MikeRotch - how about Chance by Chanel for your mum... lovely, light, floral and summery, not musky or fruity at all.

MikeRotch · 31/03/2011 18:37

thanskf or all teh great ideas

i think we dont need to equate a mums perfume with old lady smell ladies! we will ALL be old sooner than you think

anniepanniepears · 31/03/2011 18:42

este lauder auzree is my fav

MillsAndDoom · 31/03/2011 19:03

Red Door - strong vile smelling stuff

pink4ever · 31/03/2011 19:13

I wear Samsara by GuerlainShock and I am certainly not an old lady! Loved it since I was a teen. My mum used to wear Youth Dew by Estee Lauder(love that too),also Sunflower and Organza(Givenchy I think?).

AmazingBouncingFerret · 31/03/2011 19:17

She is currently wearing the new Jimmy Choo one. Which is very nice actually, might steal it when I move out I'll just tell her she dreamt owning it.

RightUpMyRue · 31/03/2011 19:18

Now she's an old lady with lots of money she wears Femme by Rochas but when we were kids and she had very little money she wore blue Charlie.

I think she's 70 either this year or next.

brimfull · 31/03/2011 19:22

hmm my mum wears 'beautiful' by someone??
she mostly wears cheapo drugstore stuff though
eau de sanatogen

jamaisjedors · 31/03/2011 19:26

My mum wears Issy Miyake.

BulletWithAName · 31/03/2011 19:27

I love Charlie Pink- it's definitely my favourite cheapo perfume.

emsyj · 31/03/2011 19:29

Beautiful is Estee Lauder too. A very good place to go for nice perfume for ladies of a certain age - classic fragrances that last well. My mother is obsessed with modern perfumes not smelling of anything - she thinks they're all just coloured water!

MrsSnow · 31/03/2011 19:33

My mum is 69 and loves Anais Anais and Dune by Dior

Becaroooo · 31/03/2011 19:34

My mum wore L'Aimant by Coty when I was a child.....I love that smell...roses and jasmine....sigh.

She wears Obsession and Opium now (which I also like)

An aunt of mine - the same age as your mum - wears Estee Lauder White linen...very nice.

MrsSeanBean · 31/03/2011 19:44

L'Air du Temps is a "mum's" classic.

dyzzidi · 31/03/2011 20:21

My mum has always worn opium. she is nearly 65 and i can;t ever imagine her wearing anything else

bibbitybobbityhat · 31/03/2011 20:22

Blue Grass - I think its Elizabeth Arden

MavisEnderby · 31/03/2011 20:28

My French Grandmother (84) has a penchant for Chanel no 5,Rive Gauche or Mitsuyako??(sp) it sounds japanese but I think is by Guerlain.

My personal fav perfume atm is Chanel Chance Au Fraiche. It is lovely, and I see no reason why a lady of 70 or older should not wear it.It is lovely and fresh.

paulapantsdown · 31/03/2011 20:36

my mum loved anything by Guerlain, but especially Mitsouko - I still have a drop left in a bottle that I give a sniff sometimes Sad
