Classic Chanel bag

I have a 'big' birthday approaching and have always wanted a classic quilted Chanel bag with chain / leather handles. DH has offered to get me one and has set aside 2k.

Will this cover it, and can anyone remember what the style is called (I seem to remmeber it's a series of numbers - is it 2.55)?

Oh God OP you just get more chic as the day goes on!

Yes yes go to Paris - avoid the touristy Chanel stores - the Avenue Montaigne store is the way to go.

Sighs.....

Perfect - definitely the rue Cambon store. Fabulous idea, and I am excited for you.

I think a Chanel bag is a lovely investment although a 2.55 isn't necessarily the "best" handbag they do. I work in Knightsbridge and have a myriad of seriously wealthy customers who all have some beuatiful handbags, and out of the Chanel ones, it's the other styles that I think are far more classic and wearable. Plus I know if I was spending that sort of money on a handbag, I'd want something not everyone else had, so personally I'd suggest going to Chanel and looking at everything they do as you might fall in love with something else or have your love for the 2.55 confirmed. I have to confess that after seeing a customer of mine with a large fabric (grey cashmere) 2.55, I fell in love with that particular style!)

On a side note, I actually have a few Chanel handbags that my mother left me, not one is a 2.55 (or whatever they were called back in the 80s/90s) as even the, she felt that style was a bit dated, a bit ubiquitous and more than a little safe..

One things I'm certain of tho is lucky you and happy shopping!! :)
PS. Go to Paris and shop there, am sure their selection is far broader than what we have here!
