Would people mind updating their S&B threads, if they can ...

Tillyscoutsmum · 13/02/2011 18:32

Please ?

I love S&B. I love virtually shopping and virtually spending other people's money. Sometimes the OP will say they like some of my choices. Sometimes they hate them. Either is fine but I want to know what they decided to buy (if anything).

I admit I am a nosey sod with no life but I want to know what you ended up wearing to your wedding/christening/night out/black tie do.

So, can you please update your threads. Even if you come on and say you hated everything and ended up buying something totally different.

An S&B thread with no conclusion is like watching an episode of Grand Designs where they ran out of money and didn't finish the house.

Thank you Smile

Oh GOD yes.

Tillyscoutsmum · 13/02/2011 19:40

Hurrah ! Someone agrees with me. I'm pretty sure you found me a top once tethers. It may have been another S&B icon but I'm pretty sure it was you. I did come back on and tell you I bought it and loved it though. Honest Smile

I am in complete agreement with you Tilly.

HettyAmaretti · 13/02/2011 19:43

Hear, hear.

MarshaBrady · 13/02/2011 19:44

Oh and when there is a whole thread full of links feel free to comment on each one of those links lovingly found ie mine

Won't take long I'm sure Grin

Meggles76 · 13/02/2011 19:45

I too am an avid reader of S&B and agree that it's a great idea.

tulpe · 13/02/2011 19:47

Yes,yes totally agree.

And on that note, would like to thank all W&A ladies who gave me guidance on my packing for the Maldives. Was a total sartorial success. Will try and post a photo to my profile of my favourite item in my favourite location later :)

TrillianAstra · 13/02/2011 19:49

HellesBelles once found me a wonderful dress - can't link it thought because it was on ebay. But I made sure she knew that I did get it :)

MarshaBrady · 13/02/2011 19:49

Ha this is like the great S&B confession.

JaneS · 13/02/2011 19:52

Oooh I sort of have, but couldn't find the first thread so I've done it from memory.

I've bought quite a lot of makeup people recommended and I'm really grateful. Loads of people also helped me find lots of pretty dresses for my mum and that was great, but naturally she chose something crappier else! Grin

MrsSeanBean · 13/02/2011 19:54

I was once roundly ridiculed for wanting to buy a cashmere Beanie hat and Smythson notebook... but bought both anyway! [tongue stuck out emoticon]

Tillyscoutsmum · 13/02/2011 19:56

Just seen your thread LRD. Well done Smile You can come back to S&B anytime Wink

Was your mum the one who only usually buys from East ?

BelligerentGhoul · 13/02/2011 19:57

LittleRedDragon - what did you buy? Spill! :)

Tilly - yes I totally agree.

tulpe · 13/02/2011 20:06

Updated profile with pics. For limited time only Wink

MrsSB - I remember your Smythson notebook thread. Ignore all doubters. I have a "Dreams" note book and a personal organiser from them (courtesty of very generous DH) and I love them to pieces.

LRD - saw your update thread. Well done :) And particularly well done for facing make up ladies. I find them pretty daunting too but have to say a big hooray for MAC counters as they are usually very good at making you feel relaxed and not letting you leave looking like an explosion in a paint factory :o

BelligerentGhoul · 13/02/2011 20:07

Tulpe - that looks amazing.

tulpe · 13/02/2011 20:10

It was. It was 20 minutes by speedboat from the island we were staying on. Me, DH, a butler and a chef. The "island" was literally 50m x 20m. We arrived just before sunset and I had no idea my DH could be so romantic :)

Champagne, lobster and chocolate birthday cake. What more could a girl ask for Wink

Tillyscoutsmum · 13/02/2011 20:10

Wow Tulpe. Gorgeous. I am jealous of the Maldives. DD was conceived there and we have promised to go back when the dc's have left home. Your dog is also scrummy

BelligerentGhoul · 13/02/2011 20:11

I meant you and the dress, rather than the setting. Gorgeous. :)

tulpe · 13/02/2011 20:12

Tillyscoutsmum which island did you go to? We went to Baros. We will probably go back for DH's 40th (in 2 years time.....he is my toyboy!!)

Dog is Ruby - she is much, much bigger now - that photo was taken this time last year :)

hatcam · 13/02/2011 20:13

Can't find original threads so here goes (with huge thanks to all s &b regulars:

I did buy my mum the lily and Lionel chain link scarf for Christmas www.lilyandlionel.com/item.php?id=512&stylenumber=SC2189 and she loves it, a bit ££££ but it was a special thank you for all her support. I am trying to 'borrow' it as it's gorgeous.

I didn't buy the Joseph shearling in the 2nd hand shop and I'm an idiot, it was beautiful and a bargain.

I did try bare minerals, but just can 't get on with it. Even if I buff until my triceps hurt I still look powdery. I've just returned to bobbi brown real skin, but also invested in a bb brush and it's FAB. Combine this with bare minerals primer and their highlighter and I'm less old crone and don't scare all the babies at work!

I still buy oasis cherry jeans as they're a better fit for me than all the expensive brands, love them.

Topshop winter leggings are the king of leggings, super thick, deep black, no shine and a bit of hold me in action.

The warehouse bird scarf is a thing if great beauty, admired by all.

Still contemplating moroccan oil for my triangle head witch thatch.

Am currently covering Clarks wedge desert boots, some more Vivienne westwood anglomania (lovely husband bought me a top for Christmas, unprompted)

traceybath · 13/02/2011 20:14

Tulpe - was that your DP dress - you look fab!

tulpe · 13/02/2011 20:15

Oh bless you, Belligerent. Thank you Blush

Dress was a bargainous £20 from Dorothy Perkins last year. Had no idea what we were doing on my actual birthday (we were in the Maldives 3 days before). But DH told me I had to get ready early. I just thought "sod it. tis my 40th and I don't care if I look overdressed." I also had a feeling that there might be a photo op and a red dress against white sand and turquoise ocean is always going to look good, no?!

MrsSeanBean · 13/02/2011 20:15

Fantastic pics Tulpe. I turn 40 this year also but can't go away as I am training for something embarassing secret.

I wanted to go to the Falklands.

traceybath · 13/02/2011 20:16

Aha crosspost - I loved that dress and spent ages hunting for it but to no avail.

Tillyscoutsmum · 13/02/2011 20:18

tulpe - the dress looked amazing. We went to Meeru. I still look longingly at the photos. Only another 18 ish years until we go back Envy
