I can see that I need to add bootleg jeans to the list (although I don't wear these with heels, only with converse)

anything else... Grin

Midriff tops.
Uggs.
Sportwear, unless you're doing sport/exercise.

paddingtonbear1 · 04/02/2011 10:59

harem pants. Who do they suit? I tried them because they were comfy, but just looked daft!

Soups · 04/02/2011 11:02

By page 5 of this thread my only option will be to go naked Grin

Needanewname · 04/02/2011 11:03

Oh dear so me wearing my watrerfall cardi with bootleg jeans and uggs is wrong then!

Needanewname · 04/02/2011 11:03

Problem is my 40 year old skin and boobs may have a waterfall kinda quality.

switchtvoffdosomelessboring · 04/02/2011 11:13

I would say that black polyester trousers and ankle boots with a slight heel are probably more likely to make you look mumsy than fabulous. The trousers are either likely to be just slightly too short, or long enough but if its raining the wet will wick up you leg leaving a your legs rather cold wet and uncomfortable. Either way its not a winning look.

MattsBatt · 04/02/2011 11:15

Bootleg jeans?? Nothing wrong with them at all.

Jeggings, on the other hand .... BLEUGH. I don't mean skinny jeans, I mean the "denim look" leggings that thankfully seem to be going out of fashion a bit now.

madammecholet · 04/02/2011 11:16

Brightly coloured Crocs on grown women.. urghhh.

AintMissBeehiving · 04/02/2011 11:18

Boden ;)

TrollyMcTrollPants · 04/02/2011 11:18

Eeeep!! Having just started back into the world of work after 5 years I can see I am going to have to start a "Make me look like a Yummy Mummy and not a frumpy Bridge Dweller" thread......

Fleeces
Anoraks - yes they may be made from some high tech gortex type stuff that costs the earth and is very practical, but they look terrible.

CuppaTeaJanice · 04/02/2011 11:23

So many....

Leggings without a long top or dress covering the bum bit.
White linen trousers - yes we can see your pants in full detail.
Anything that gives you a camel toe.
Briefs on men.
Football shirts (except when playing obv).
Harem pants, unless you're MC Hammer.
Ballet pumps - they make your arse look huge.
Capes - just ridiculous, you're not Superman!
Shapeless oversized fleeces - dull.
Jumpsuits - not pretty when you need to take a leak in a public bog.
Judgey pants should obviously only be worn at home when on Mumsnet! Grin

lackaDaisy · 04/02/2011 11:27

Harem pants!!!

There is a very glam mum in dd's school whom I have a girl-crush on but she's taken to wearing harem trousers every second day. Seriously...it looks like she's done a big poo and the trousers are gamely trying to hold on to the turd Hmm Completely cured me of my crush Grin

messylittlemonkey · 04/02/2011 11:27

yes, agree with expensive anoraks - so ugly!

AintMissBeehiving · 04/02/2011 11:29
AintMissBeehiving · 04/02/2011 11:30

Capes, however worn always remind me of Miss Marple

TrillianAstra · 04/02/2011 11:33

If you abide by the "rules" there wll be no clothes left that you are "allowed" to wear.

TrollyMcTrollPants · 04/02/2011 11:34

OMG!!! I no longer care if I look rough!!!
I've got Wine THAT!

traceybath · 04/02/2011 11:34

Quite Trills.

Different things suit different people and bootlegs are back anyway.

OhCobblers · 04/02/2011 11:36

leggings with stirrups - why oh why???

crocs on anyone over 16 (and i'm being generous believe me Grin).

StarlightPrincess · 04/02/2011 11:42

"Ballet pumps - they make your arse look huge"- they do if you have a huge arse to begin with!
