Does this dress exist?

...Or is it only in my mind?

I want a dress which is:

-Warm (preferably knitted)
-Has long sleeves (wrist length)
-Is knee or mid calf length
-Has a straight skirt (not flared)

I think I want black, but am open to suggestion.

I am also open to different neck styles.

Why is it so hard to find?

Can anyone help?

Oooh, Pollyanna, did you mean this one? I like it... do you know if it's thick?

OP posts:
Pollyanna · 30/10/2010 21:57

No it's not chunky but it isn't really fine either. I have got it and really like it. I went up a size so it was a bit longer (I don't like skiirts that stop a couple of inches above my knee).

TethHearseEnd · 30/10/2010 22:01

That's the problem! they have to be knee length or below.

Ooohh, I think that could just be the one... how tall are you?

OP posts:
TethHearseEnd · 30/10/2010 22:05

Actually, scratch that, they don't go up to my size Angry

What size are you, Tethers?

Feel free to ignore this potentially impudent question Smile.

TethHearseEnd · 30/10/2010 23:07

16

no

WhatsWrongWithYou · 30/10/2010 23:11

Okay - and what shape are you, please?

Hullygully · 30/10/2010 23:13

I know her in real life and I don't think she will mind me saying that she is almost completely rotund with her arms and legs kind of just sticking out. And she has the weeniest of heads.

TethHearseEnd · 30/10/2010 23:22

Hourglass- big boobs and arse thighs.

But I don't hold with all this 'high necks don't work with big boobs'. I'm not keen on v-necks. Polo necks suit me. Cowl necks even better.

Hully is just jealous of my alarmingly life-like barrel impressions. I can puff up at will, like one of those fish.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 30/10/2010 23:28

Just joking - so what is it - hourglass or barrel as your good friend says?

TethHearseEnd · 30/10/2010 23:38

Hourglass

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 30/10/2010 23:48

Well then you'll look fab in a clingy sweater dress, and you'll have super shapely legs even if they're bigger than you'd like them to be.

Just above the knee is a perfect length for an hourglass, and having spent the last several years suffering winter chest infections, I've realised that polos don't look that bad on booby girls - in fact, it looks a bit ridiculous to have your chest all exposed in winter.

MortaIWombat · 30/10/2010 23:54

Maybe this?

employmentlawquery · 31/10/2010 08:24

Jaeger cashmere £125 but half price - that looks good for hourglass

Hullygully · 31/10/2010 16:01

barrel

Havingkittens · 31/10/2010 21:41

If you can be bothered to go on a waiting list, buy something from the states and pay import tax accordingly this dress is fab for an hourglass figure. (I suspect the model is wearing some hardcore shapewear!) - not sure if it's knitted but it looks warm and has all the other attributes you've listed.

Drooool! .... I want one for myself. If anyone stumbles upon anything similar I'd love to know!

I wish more of the knitted dresses on the high street were 50s/60s inspired. I like the idea of being sassy and cosy at the same time. Plus, as I'm TTC I think a knitted dress would come in very handy in that interim period before maternity wear.

TethHearseEnd · 31/10/2010 22:06

Havingkittens, your link doesn't work...

I like that jaeger one employment, but not sure about batwing sleeves...

Sorry Awesome, not keen on that one...

OP posts:
Havingkittens · 31/10/2010 22:09

try again!

TethHearseEnd · 31/10/2010 22:13

Oh, have seen that one, 'tis fab Smile I'm not surprised it's sold out- I bookmarked the green one a while back as am ginger and thought it would go. It went.

I wish I could make clothes... Sad

OP posts:
Havingkittens · 31/10/2010 22:25

But they do have an option to put yourself on the waiting list. Might be worth a shot?

Havingkittens · 31/10/2010 22:31

not knitted but warm looking. Sleeves may be too short though www.leilalondon.com/product/leila-london/j688pencil-pleat-dress/7672/

Quite bombshell looking though which is why I thought you might like it.

TethHearseEnd · 31/10/2010 22:35

Gah. Can't get link to work either Havingkittens...

Paribus, thanks- the sleeves are too short on that one. Cheers for trying though.
