I love the ruched dress, but I'm not sure if it's the sort of thing you have to try on? I guess for the price, ye'd assume it'll be quality and fit well but not sure. Also skint so just fantasy shopping atm :)

topsi · 07/10/2010 08:10

I think it's gonna be quite forgiving, especially going on the reviews, think you can pull it up or down and the ruching would be quite flattering over the tummy.
Still, back to me!Wink
Looking at the silk dresses they are not as short as I remembered, just not sure how to wear it foe a cold November wedding. Could I put the poncho or smoking jacket over the top??

higgle · 07/10/2010 10:18

I have wanted a pair of boots with the toes and heels out since I was 18 and saw waitresses in what was then communist Yugoslavia wearing them - it has taken 36 years for them to come into fashion here and I still really want some ( the waitresses had low heeled lace up canvas ones) My then boyfriend, now sadly deceased, thought the toes and heels showing were very sexy - so here is to his memory! I will wear them with purple tights or black sheerish ones, or just possibly lace ones - whatever goes when I have the dress.

TracyK · 07/10/2010 17:17

Yes I think it will look good higgle - maybe a bit vampish for me though!

I reckon those boots would look fab with the peg trousers too.

Why not the ruched dress topsi ? for the wedding or the silk tunic dress in that fab red colour.

who else would recommend the cable cosy, been ogling it for a long time now, ordered something similar much cheaper somewhere else and it just looked (what a surprise) cheap!

Am a size 10, 5ft 6, big shoulders and sadly after 2 kids no boobage to speak of.

will it suit, should I just bite the bullet and get one?!

TracyK · 07/10/2010 17:58

Oh yes go for it hatcam. I couldn't wear it as I'm a 16, large shoulders and large all over - so would add inches to me - not flattering at all.

Aargh - I'm desp to order but am off to Spain on Sat and would miss the delivery. I might order a couple of days before we leave to come home!

Just got my cable cardy, it is lovely!! Hangs just right and is soft and warm. It comes up quite big though, arms are nice and long. If you are a 10 then deffo get the small! GET IT!!! It will go over anything.

Yeah not sure bout the ruched dress for a wedding, not dressy enough maybe, would love it for every day or dressed up for a 'do'.
Not sure bout the silk dress, it would be freezing and prob wouldn't look great with a jacket or such on top, though would love the smoking jacket. Oh decisions, decisions.
I am thinking of this dress for the wedding?

ttalloo · 07/10/2010 18:53

I got the Isabella Oliver 365 catalogue today, with a code for 25% off and free delivery: TEMPT11S

And I was tempted and bought the Kate jeans, a t-shirt, the pencil skirt and the obi belt - I can't wait!

topsi · 07/10/2010 19:31

ooo Ttalloo THANKYOU! When does the code last untill?
Let us know what it is all like when it arrives, what will you wear the Obi belt with, over the skirt I guess, Oh you lucky thing!

loobylu3 · 07/10/2010 21:02

Thank you so much for that code- I think you are forcing me to order now!

I can't see any advice on the sizing. I remember that the maternity wear was on the generous size but wondered if anyone could advise on the sizing for the non maternity range. I am normally 8-10 so don't know whether to go for the 6-8 or the 10!

Also, does anybody have the classic peg trousers? Are they nice?

vesela · 07/10/2010 21:08

I bought the cable cosy on the 25% off day and yep, love it. The sleeves are as long as you want them to be - the cuffs can be folded back. I love the long arms - it's part of what makes it so warm. I had it on yesterday, but took it off because it was a bit too warm :) will be invaluable in a couple of weeks' time, though... I'm a 12-14 and got an M, which seems just right. It reaches to my knee at the back - I'm 5' 8".

minxyminx · 07/10/2010 21:10

I've got the black peg trousers and have worn them loads already. Have had several complements on them. I'd say they were pretty much true to size. They don't bag much and have washed well.

cornsilk · 07/10/2010 21:42

my pink shift dress is here
colour is nice - not neon anyway!
nice and thick but I'd have liked a lining
only down side is it sticks to my tights Hmm

happilyeverafter · 07/10/2010 22:05

I have the cable cosy and it is very long and warm. I was worried it is too baggy but it's grown on me now. (not literally thank goodness!!)

I'm still not sure if I like the pegs, the are a closer fit on the thighs than what I expected but otherwise a good fit. I think it's my thighs that are the issue not the trousers. I had intended them to look sloppy but it's not a bad look.

Defo get the small cosy if you're a 10 hatcam.

loobylu3 · 07/10/2010 22:54

Have ordered, although will have to wait a bit for the trousers and ruched dress!

many thanks for the code ttalloo!

ttalloo · 08/10/2010 05:43

Follow-up on the 25% off code - there's no expiry date for it in the catalogue, but I didn't dare hang about, hence my order yesterday, the same day I got it!

Will report back on my clothes when they arrive - I am so excited!

TracyK · 08/10/2010 08:11

How long does the delivery take? ie if I am in Spain nxt week and ordered - say on the Wed - would it not arrive before me? on the Saturday?

OP posts:
ttalloo · 08/10/2010 13:09

I think their standard delivery time (which is what you get for free) is three days.

topsi · 09/10/2010 09:10

Ttalloo have you got your stuff yet? I am thinking of getting the Obi belt, then for the wedding I could wear the cable cardi over a Karen Millen dress that I already own with the belt and some nice black heels that I already own. Then at a later date I could get the ruched dress which would be OK for work, christmas etc.
I think our boiler has just broken so trying to save the ££££ Sad

cornsilk · 09/10/2010 11:18

I really want the cable cosy and the ruched dress now. This is a very bad thread.

ttalloo · 09/10/2010 14:23

My order arrived today! (It took two days, rather than the standard three, so I was most pleased.)

The obi belt hasn't arrived as it's out of stock till 22 October so I can't report on that, but for the rest:

the essential t-shirt (www.isabellaoliver.com/womens-clothing/uk/600/tops/TP442.html)
I ordered that in a white size 10 and it's a great fit, long, so good for layering, and very nice quality, which for the price it should be! So I'm going to order some more in black and grey, as I've been looking for good t-shirts for ages.

the pencil skirt
(www.isabellaoliver.com/womens-clothing/uk/600/skirts/SK460.html)
I was disappointed in this - I squeezed into the size 10, which is probably why it didn't exactly flatter me, but without a split at the back it was very uncomfortable to walk in, as I have quite a long stride, so I won't be exchanging it for a 12.

the kate jean
(www.isabellaoliver.com/womens-clothing/uk/600/trousers-and-jeans/TR460.html)
these are lovely jeans - a very dark blue, a lot of stretch and a really flattering cut - but I ordered them in a 29 by mistake, so they are too big on the waist. I'm going to order a 27 today and if they don't fit I might cry because I think I could live in them....

cornsilk · 09/10/2010 16:26

is size 27 equivalent to a 10?

topsi · 09/10/2010 17:11

29 is a 12

higgle · 13/10/2010 22:37

After lots of deliberation and very much influenced by the 25% off code I've ordered a grey ruched dress and an Obi belt tonight - and the strange - but to me very desirable - shoe boots from Bertie. I'll report back when they arrive. has anyone posting on this thread received a ruched dress yet?
