Charity dinner at The Dorchester... What do I wear ?

It is black tie for the guys, which is easy, but I don't know what to go for. I'm 23 so I don't want to look like a frump, but I'm also not hyperfashionable or skinny....

I'm 5'7", size 12, all in all reasonable figure apart from slightly wobbly tum...

Need shoes and a frock (ideally), although a really glam trouser suit might work well too. Links please !

Monsoon do some lovely stuff NDP and you need magic knickers for your enormous tummy [she is skinny]

RTKangaMummy · 07/09/2005 11:21

do you have any fav shops?

budget?

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:21

I like monsoon stuff but whenever I try it on it looks like I'm dressing up in my Mum's garb ....

Budget, around £80 for the dress and £40 for the shoes. I'm unlikely to wear the stuff again so can't go overboard spending-wise.

I'll be watching this thread. Have just found out my brothers wedding in Feb is a black tie do.
Although I would obviously be making a huge effort anyway, I now need to look unltra posh.

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:24

Also I may well have to dance in it.

River Island have some gorgeous evening dresses and shoes.

What colours do you prefer? I'll see if I can do a link.

RTKangaMummy · 07/09/2005 11:26

here is a jacket

RTKangaMummy · 07/09/2005 11:26

oooops sorry took too long and so missed budget

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:27

Not fussed on colour. I have dark hair and dark eyes, lightly tanned skin, so anything really. Although I'd prefer something that isn't too pastelly, IYSWIM.

RTKangaMummy · 07/09/2005 11:28

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:29

What length is it ?

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:30

It's nice, RTKM, but I think I'd look a bit mumsy in it....

OP posts:
jampots · 07/09/2005 11:30

hmm - Principles can be very glam/not too old

Springchicken · 07/09/2005 11:31

Lizzylou · 07/09/2005 11:33

\link{http://www.warehousefashion.com/cgi-bin/product.cgi?prodid=WGS03 Nice Gold one}

You could get a shrug to go with it?

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:33

There looks to be a bit of a hole in the front of that one SC, not great as I have big norks and would need some sort of bra underneath it !
