Charity dinner at The Dorchester... What do I wear ?

It is black tie for the guys, which is easy, but I don't know what to go for. I'm 23 so I don't want to look like a frump, but I'm also not hyperfashionable or skinny....

I'm 5'7", size 12, all in all reasonable figure apart from slightly wobbly tum...

Need shoes and a frock (ideally), although a really glam trouser suit might work well too. Links please !

Can you do strapless (course you can, you're 23!)??? They are supposed to be very "in" and look great if you have nice shoulders/arms/decolletage......

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:38

np, that's the same link !

although i think you have to be brave to wear red

Lizzylou · 07/09/2005 11:38

I like the dress NDP but it could be a tad "ordinary" for such a glam event....perhaps if you dressed it up a bit with heels/accessories?

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:38

I have reasonably toned shoulders, arms and cleavage. So long as I wear some scaffolding underneath then strapless is fine.

wouldnt be dull ndp if you had great accessories

RTKangaMummy · 07/09/2005 11:40

some shoes in sale

Springchicken · 07/09/2005 11:40

I brought a beautiful black evening dress from a designer called Charas but can't seem to find a website for it. Was about £100 iirc

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:40

what would you advise to glam that dress up a bit ?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 07/09/2005 11:41

its another chocolate dress but maybe too hippy and there is a great red one in the debenhams website

nailpolish · 07/09/2005 11:41

a beautiful but simple necklace, can you wear your hair up?

Nbg · 07/09/2005 11:42

Dress ink{http:www.riverisland.com?productdetails.jsp?kick=1018417024&sid=27660345&bo_uid=9152&prodid=BX255&indexPos=6&Ipguid=200219Shoes

Springchicken · 07/09/2005 11:42

Very simple diamond stud earings and a simple 1 diamond necklace. If no diamonds, then River Island do great replica's which is where i usually get mine from.

And killer heels.

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:42

I like red but it had to be the right shade. I find it hard to find the right shoes to go with red though.

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:42

np, yes, I could and prob would put my hair up

OP posts:
nailpolish · 07/09/2005 11:42

or i would wear really glam earrings, very long ones (i dont really wear necklaces, im short and i feel being naked around the neck gives me height)

RTKangaMummy · 07/09/2005 11:42

black shoes with red???????????

Nbg · 07/09/2005 11:43

My links do work, as strange as they have come out!

nailpolish · 07/09/2005 11:43

not too simple, ndp

NomDePlume · 07/09/2005 11:43

Again, that dress has bit hanging off the hem, Nbg. Possibly not quite sophisticated enough for the event ?

RTKangaMummy · 07/09/2005 11:43

Springchicken · 07/09/2005 11:43

very jealous of your dinner! when is it

Carmenere · 07/09/2005 11:44

You could get the incredibly glamourous and cheap dress that I bought in George yesterday. Full lenght, deep petrol blue, strappy, crushed fabric with lovely grecian style ties around it. It's Fab!
