Charity dinner at The Dorchester... What do I wear ?

It is black tie for the guys, which is easy, but I don't know what to go for. I'm 23 so I don't want to look like a frump, but I'm also not hyperfashionable or skinny....

I'm 5'7", size 12, all in all reasonable figure apart from slightly wobbly tum...

Need shoes and a frock (ideally), although a really glam trouser suit might work well too. Links please !

Re the black strapless dress: a sparkly shawl/wrap/little cardi for when you arrive, and a really sparkly necklace. Also a brooch or a fake flower corsage (either at the top or at the side of the waist) would glam it up but with a fab necklace, some high heels and a glam hair do (up, if poss, with sparkly hair grips) I reckon you'd look a million dollars.

In Heat this week there is a whole spread on strapless dresses...some of them are gorgeous, beautiful one from Principles in a Burgundy colour with a thin sparkly waistband...bargain at £75

Like I say, the event itself with be deathly dull, but at least it'll be in plush surroundings ! Just had a look at the cost of a normal double room per night at the Dorchester . £405 ! Thank god DH's company are footing the bill !!!!

i don't know if it's been said before (probably) but i wouldn't go for full length....always better to be slightly underdressed and if you go in cocktaily type dress then you won't be too informal but won't risk looking like you've gone overboard....

i really like the john lewis little black dress you linked ndp, and you can go overboard on the shoes and accessories front to funk it up....
