Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Any of you lovely ladies got a moment to help out this lady?

blossoming · 09/08/2010 21:30

Hi all. Have added my usual 'get your colors done' pennyworth to the other thread!
Was shredding like mad and will do another session tomorrow morning before I go away. I think it's true what they say about bikini bottoms: to go down a size. I have two pairs of triangle tie sides and two pairs of 'ruched pants'. I think the pants are staying here.

monkeysmama · 09/08/2010 21:38

What is that Bloss - wear a smaller size bikini pants? I usually size up so they don't look too tight on the hips.

I have ordered the Shred dvd and have an email to say it's been dispatched. I seem to recall someone telling me I'd need dumbbells. Can I use tins of tuna instead?

LetThemEatCake · 09/08/2010 21:50

hi girls

no MM I was reading something just recently with lots of quotes from Melissa Odabash and she was saying it's a common misconception that you need to size up - in actual fact the extra fabric just makes your bottom look bigger?

bloss wanted to say well done to your ds and I hope you have a really wonderful holiday. AM sure you will knock 'em dead with your svelte form, stylish wardrobe choice and general sparkle. Lucky dh. Bec dress well deserved.

Those Tory Burch thongs arrived and I think will have to go back. I dunno, maybe if they weren't patent? just makes them look a bit cheap, like a popsicle sicked up on them or something. And there's something about them that makes me feel like an older woman lurking around the pool ogling the pool boys. Can't explain it.

I think I just love my black Havaiianas, really. Am not, deep down, as luxe as I sometimes think ought to be. I blame you lot Grin

monkeysmama · 09/08/2010 21:55

Cakey that picture is different from the one you originally linked to I think and I can see what you mean. I thought they looked brilliant in the original pictures. That's a pity.

I am interested in the bikini bottom point! I have a small(ish) bum but my problem is them cutting too much into my fleshy tummy. I've taken some time to have a look at where we've booked for September and think I need to up grade my summer wardrobe a bit. First stop new bikini.

Blossoming have a brilliant holiday.

blossoming · 09/08/2010 21:59

Yes ltec, we've read the same article. Tmi but my bum looks better in a smaller triangle than in a big 'hold me in' pant!!
Thanks for your lovely words ltec. I just need to be confident in my bikinis, oh, and not bend over!!!

rufus101 · 09/08/2010 22:00

Have a great holiday Bloss. Enjoy the good weather. It's a shame you have to restrict yourself, with all those lovely summer buys you've had.
I read that too about sizing down. Have to say "no way"! I always size up, as I have a (large) bottom, and think there is nothing worse than having material digging into me. Think of knickers. You wouldn't size down in them. That however is a personal observation, and maybe others think smaller is the way to go. I just know on me, would look blardy awful.
NY was thinking your DH is such a star.
Flying suit-check (I mean how cool is that?)
Cooks.
Bakes fabulous birthday cakes for DD.
Fixes shoes (fixes shoes? Is this man real?!)

bunnymother · 09/08/2010 22:01

Well, if you are all wondering what to do, how about helping old rabbit out by giving more opinions on the White Company cardi? Am on phone so can't link again but can send v grateful vibes if that helps?

bunnymother · 09/08/2010 22:03

Happy holidays Bloss!!

Notyummy - agree that your DH sounds fab. Loved the story last week re window banging for delivery driver!

blossoming · 09/08/2010 22:04

Oh, monkeysmama, maybe the set of York weights from amazon rather than the tuna!! Sorry not linking. And can't remember where I read that article. But if you buy tie side bikini bottoms you can adjust them so they don't dig in?

notyummy · 09/08/2010 22:12

Love the idea of the White Company Cardigan.,..., not sure I could have kept it clean at the baby/toddler stage though....but I am notoriously clumsy.

Rufus will prob pass on compliments to DH- although don't want him thinking he is perfect Wink Obviously I think he is fab- but he is perfectionist at everything he does, which can sometimes lead to frustration .....and, as I have pointed out, whilst he may wish to have impossibly high standards for himself, Dd and I will not put up with being expected to live up to them too!! An ongoing 'discussion' in our house. I may have to admit to some character flaws of my own as well I suppose!

Bloody hell - I post on here so infrequently it's as if I'm delurking each time.

Finally found some sandals I like that didn't cost the earth. They're silver glads but in French "Spartiates Argent" they sound like the name of a porn star Grin. Mine are the first ones on the page being modelled but are silver all over. And only ?20 huzzah!

I really, really, really want to have my colours done now after hearing such good things about it on here.

Cake - great news about holiday. I was so cross on your behalf.

Another August birthday here - 26th for me and it's my biggie, yep 40 .

notyummy · 09/08/2010 22:16

Every year at Xmas, Dh manages to surprise me with some nice presents - and as I open them and squeal, my Dad shakes his head and says 'you're only making it worse for the rest of us you know...' , as if DH has betrayed the brotherhood Grin My mum is like this Hmm

OP posts:
blossoming · 09/08/2010 22:19

Thanks for your holiday wishes. I'm having a sneaky Stella to get me in the mood! rufus, knickers don't come with tie sides though for adjustment purposes.

bunjies · 09/08/2010 22:22

Can't decide if this Antik Batik dress is lovely or untidy.

LetThemEatCake · 09/08/2010 22:23

hello bunjies!! nice work on the glads and thanks for your kind words about the holiday Smile

bunny fab news on the scan, hurrah! not sure about a cream cardi as am not sure that cream is great on someone blonde and fair (esp when rendered more fair by pallor of sleep deprivation and London winter Grin)? is it a colour you wear often?

notyummy · 09/08/2010 22:24

Bunjies - those sandals look like they will go with everything - very wise.

Blossoming - Have a great holiday if I forget to say later.

Heres hoping that the strikes don't start next week; although apparently these particular Unite members very rarely vote against industrial action. I guess they are just trying to strongarm management to the table by doing it at school holiday time. You will be stuck abroad and LTEC and I may not be able to get out there.....think I would rather have your option!

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 09/08/2010 22:31

I think it's rather fabulous bunjies. The way they've styled it is a bit untidy - could do with a more closely-fitting ankle boot, I think

mrsjuan · 09/08/2010 22:43

Evening lovely ladies,

By a rather strange turn of events I have found myself hostng a cheese and wine evening - I didn;t even know they existed anymore but apparently they do as there is one going on in my living rom as I talk to you!

Unfortunately, due to lack of cheese intake, I have had rather too much wine and am now a little drunk. Bugger.

Bunny - that cardigan is at least the same colour as baby sick & milk which are the 2 main causes of mess (on your top half at least) oft rthe first few months. Maybe a warmer colour would be more flattering though?

Cake - those sandals don;t look as good there as they did before - what does choo think? Stick with your havvies - I love mine. Or maybe some of those metallic new look sandals?

Am very inspired by all the recipes and meal planning. We do meal planning but tend to end up deviating quite a bit as DH is a bit flighty when it comes to food.

MM - no no no to tuna! Beans at least! I've got a little dumbell tree from tescos which is good for varying the weights depending on the exercises - only £16.

Better go back to the party.

Much love

OllieWollieWoo · 10/08/2010 06:47

Morning - just waiting for my sister and her two DSs to arrive from the overnight ferry! Banana bread is on the oven. DS2 up and excited whilst DS2 fast asleep! Hope to give my sister (twin) a bit of a break - her DS1 is being a realy handful and her DH is, quite frankly, useless - v lazy and critical and does nothing to help or support her Angry.

Hey bunjies - nice to hear from you. I love the dress - agree with LTEC re styling but think it has real potential.

Have a really great holiday Blossoming - looking forward to hearing all about it on your return. Agree re triangle bikinnis - took some v dodgey holiday pics of me to learn that fashion rule!

School starts here next week so think of me on the school run - I will so miss our lazy mornings and now cos DH leaves the house at 6.30 every morning for new job, I will be doing it solo - eek!

Oh yes - rashly brought a dress on ebay last night -and now dithering whether I've made a fashion faux pas! This October wedding is causing me a bit of a wardrobe headache - need an oufit for the dinner after the ceremony - its an evening do with lots of courses and speeches. (The formal black tie do is the following evening). Get the impression that a strapless number will not be right given we will be sitting down all night and may just look too bare. So got a champagne/taupe silk tunic dress - will post the link later - top half is fine but it has a flower thingy on the skirt which I am now not sure about! Whatever happened to weddings where you wore the same outfit for everything!

LetThemEatCake · 10/08/2010 08:16

LOL mrsJ I am a big fan of the slightly sozzled post. Hope you had a good night and not feeling too fuzzy this morning

OWW am drooling at thought of scent of banana bread wafting through the house. Looking fwd to seeing dress link

may I ask what you think of

this - it doesn't have the delicate prettiness of the hummingbird print but something about it appeals to me as a "wandering into town to eat gelati" kind of dress Grin

also this for work, although I realise it's polyester ...

couple of bikinis I'm keen on too ... in a too-small-to-properly-cover-my-big-butt kind of way, of course....

bunnymother · 10/08/2010 09:03

Thanks for feedback! Have passed on cardi. Saw dark electric blue wool cardi wrap at Uniqlo that will be much better for my colouring - will go and look today.

MrsJ - it was your birthday, wasn't it?? Woke in the night w this revelation.

Cakey - rust zebra dress looks nice (obv not same league as the Tibi) and navy looks great. Order and give them a whirl?

Roary - diamonds? Ooh wonderful!

Notyummy - your DH sounds superb!

After heavenly weather yesterday London is wet an grey. Hmm.
