We currently see our SD once every 3 months! Just wondered what the norm is...

Are you close to them? How often did they used to visit?

feathermucker · 19/02/2026 15:05

Everybody will have different situations, why do you ask? Do you live far away?

Falloutgal · 19/02/2026 15:24

We live an 50 minutes away. Used to be every other weekend with extra in school holidays.

They are now at college and prefer to see mates then stay here obv!

Their father doesn’t visit them?

Their father doesn’t visit them?

She's always busy with mates, work, bf, college.

She is practically an adult so we are not expecting sleepovers and EOW contact anymore and I'm just wondering what other peoples set up looks like at this age.

So her father offers to visit her at college at take her out for lunch for example - but she always says no?

Is your partner still paying maintenance?

Lightuptheroom · 19/02/2026 15:39

My ds saw his father roughly once every 3/4 months at that age, once he turned 18 not at all as his father couldn't be bothered

Are you just going to answer the actual question or just keep asking them?

so That’s my answer

No not at all.

Yes he still pays CMS as he should, but that's got naff all to do with the actual question I asked!! Instead of answering the question you just keep asking questions that have no relevance.

Eh? Whose parents visit them in college, how odd.

Sorry you are receiving pointless and unhelpful comments OP, but that's mumsnet for you. I think, given SD's age, distance from where you live, and other commitments, this is fairly reasonable. It's a busy time!

Exactly! Bull shit questions as most 17/18 year olds wouldn't be seen dead at their college with their parents!
They want to hang with their mates.

When I was at uni… my folks visited one a term , just to take me for a Sunday lunch and replenish my fridge!

But just seen at college so likely still with mother. Just asked if her dad had ever messaged to offer to take her out for lunch or anything really.

Are you ok? Why do you think her father isn't paying maintenance, OP has confirmed he is.

At uni, yes of course. I have never heard of anyone's parents taking them out for lunch at college though.

I really don't understand the purpose of your strange contributions to this thread, why are you speculating about the finances of a random family who you don't know? Really odd.

Yes we seen her at Xmas, what has that got to do with anything again?!
