Things that's just irritate me

I'll start:-
The way H speaks to his ex, it's so grovelling. He has no problem speaking to me like shit
The constant eating on access weekends, my god dsd doesn't stop eating! She's 7, she will eat crap in-between meals then have a know adult portion at meal time

You don't deserve a flaming, I totally understand! I think fathers tend to over compensate, regardless of being NRP or FT parent after a marital breakdown. I have the FTP problem!

What started this is I had booked a weekend away for ds, DH and I. Our first one. DH had now asked if dsc can come. That would have been fine and I always count them in in our weekend but this was on a non contact weekend. For one reason or another the weekends have been swapped going forward at the request of mum. She has also booked a weekend away (after us and we booked it before she asked for the swap). We told her we can swap but for that one weekend. Now DH is guilting me into them coming. We've just come back from taking them away, and id like a weekend of not picking up after them, making beds, making inadequate lunches. I just want to relax. I don't want to watch my dsd drape herself all over my DH for a weekend. I booked this for DH and I. I'm all up for all of us going away but I wasn't prepared for this due to the swap (without them asking me) rant over

DP also sucks up to his ex. She's a horrible person and treats him horrendously but he'll quite happily put her before me and our DC for a quiet life. Sad

DSSs taking over the living room with Xbox and because they're not my DC I'm not allowed to set limits. They also wind up 2yo DS, again I'm not allowed to stop them. I'm allowed to cook and clean for them though...

FOOD!!!!!!!!!!
They are so fking fussy I could scream. And the constant "daddy I want..." I encourage my children to use "I would like".
They dont do any chores or housework at home because they have no rules, so when they first started eating at mine they didnt even pick their plates up - I was like "errrr lets get this straight at the beginning"!!!!
But their fussiness is the worst. I told dp that I was making lamb koftas and falafel for me and mine and they were welcome to join us but to feed his first if it was a prob - he insisted it was fine - did they eat it? Did they buggery. I wouldnt mind betting he cooked them something else when they got home.
By far the biggest issue we have by a mile. Ive brought mine up to try everything and not bloody complain if its not your favourite and especially in someone else's house just eat it - but they are SO rude - openly saying its horrible at the table.
And his eldest has to repeat everything... so she has said she doesnt like it and goes on to say it 20 more times.
And taking them to restaurants, they will only order the same meals no matter where they go. So she has picked a mexican for her birthday soon - but she will have pasta and tomato sauce wherever it is.

DP is the most exciting cook I have ever met, his food is to die for, I dont get why he didnt introduce them to FOOD when they were little. If it aint reformed and battered, theyre not interested.

Phew. Needed that.

(mine had pork mince chinese burgery things with cucumber salad and sweet chilli sauce (all homemade!) tonight Grin)

Mine wouldnt dream of eating a McDonalds - but takes his their out of choice. That gets right on my tits.
Im not saying Ive never taken my kids to McDonalds, but would be out of emergency as their food is so vile, I cant really see many situations we would be THAT stuck for an alternative.

Having read your comments, I am so glad I didn't have kids of my own. Don't bring me down yet though, DSSnearly17 eats so much sugar, in tea, and biscuits etc. I refuse to buy it now although he is a beanpole. Not right! DH says nothing, as usual.......

And she will only eat chicken or a cheese sandwich. Her mum tells her all meat is chicken, it causes no end of problems

What topped it was this:-
DH "get a sponge and wipe it"
Dss "I am"
DH " not like that! You have to wring the sponge first!"
Dss "what?"
DH "just wipe it and move it into the sink"

This was over dss cleaning a spill. My god these kids are so use to having everything done for them they can't do basic things. It was a spill next to the sink!

mumsrush - I had exactly the same with his kids!!
They spilt a drink and it was like a state of emergency had been called - I made them clean it up - my god the fuss and not knowing how to do it!!!!

Little, the fussy (and let's just face It, it's not fussy, it's just a stand off to get what they want) drives me insane. I make one meal. Like my mum use to say, eat it or don, but there's nothing else. But then DH will get out the crap that he picked up on the way home from picking them up! My dsd is not small, and she's not active. Hmm

I make one meal and thats it too. I always have fruit and healthy snacks but omg they just want shit all the time, and are always claiming to be "starving". I asked them if they actually knew what it was like to be starving and how they should think about the way they use that word!!! This included my youngest as well and I tried to do it lightheartedly but jeeeeeeez, youre not starving!!!!

not only does dsd not eat meat (unless reformed and shaped) she doesnt eat potatoes. Except chips.

I told dsd a fish finger was actually fish, she took it well and she was praised (but for the telling off I got for making a fuss). We always tell her what the meat is, I don't see what good am can come from telling a child everything is chicken?!

I'm so glad to see that the majority of comments on here are food-based. I'm fairly new to this whole step-parenting thing and I thought I was going completely crazy! Thanks for making me feel more normal again!
