Come hold my hand. Hoping for a win within fulltime. Is anyone else here?

I think capello is the only manager with who we stand a chance to be honest. really hope they don't change him. we've had manager after manager. the only constant is a poorly performing team

Rooney wilted under the heat?? What do you mean?

It's chilly/cold there on the other side of the equator....unless you mean wilted under the heat (as in pressure of expectation)

ZZZenAgain · 27/06/2010 16:45

PMSL at they seemed to spot how slow our defense is.

That was so difficult to spot. LOL

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2010 16:46

I blame Iceland.

williewalshsballs · 27/06/2010 16:46

Injustice though the disallowed goal was, the Germans thoroughly deserve this win. They've played fantastically: a young, fresh team, playing as a team.

I honestly believe that England will never win a major tournament again. We just can't get over this sense that being England is enough, when most of the other nations around the world are actually putting the work in and, y'know, playing football.

orienteerer · 27/06/2010 16:46

England will be off on a team building weekend now.

US commentator:

'out-maneuvered, out-smarted, out-skilled'

Not good grammar, but he's correct in his assessment.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2010 16:47

you are right cyteen

williewalshsballs · 27/06/2010 16:47

don't know why i allowed myself to imagine.....Germany always do better than I thought they would. always go very far

Yes Kitten...do you think the volcanic ash scuppered their lung function and so they have been playing under par???

ZZZenAgain · 27/06/2010 16:49

they are very tough I think. Not dirty players at all but very aggressive in their approach to the game. England are fighters but not anywhere near as tough.

There's a harshness to the Gemran team, their coaches that I don't pick up on so much with other teams. It seems to do the trick.

noddyholder · 27/06/2010 16:50
Sad
ZZZenAgain · 27/06/2010 16:50

we could have a go at ice hockey?

ah no wait that's another toughie one

I dunno really, England always seems to lack a kind of pizzazz (however you spell it) in these WC games.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2010 16:51

Absolutely PussinJimmy - plus clearly because of the bank crisis they've not been paid enough.

lottiejenkins · 27/06/2010 16:51

I was in the pub, in the other bar away from the football but having to listen to it! I finished my drink and left though as i got sick and tired of the language! Im not a saint. I do swear but having to listen to one particular guy saying F....g German C...s and Kraut W.........rs was more than i could deal with!!

noddyholder · 27/06/2010 16:51

Come on murray

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2010 16:51

we are quite good at tiddly winks as a nation.

McSteamy · 27/06/2010 16:52

Germany to win the World Cup - my brother disagrees but my money is on them.

So when are Ghana playing next?

williewalshsballs · 27/06/2010 16:55

I definitely wouldn't bet against germany winning. ever. they always at least go to quarters. loads of finals

OP posts:
franke · 27/06/2010 16:55

There's a self-belief in the German team, that seems lacking in the England team. That's why if it had gone to penalties (yeah right), Germany would have won anyway.

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/06/2010 16:55

i blame the octopus

and the shit manager who was signed again for another 4 years....

ZZZenAgain · 27/06/2010 16:56

no idea when Ghana plays next but I think the next game is Argentina vs Mexico? Really don't know tbh and then Germany plays the winner of that game next time round.
