@LlynTegid they have done random purges every now and again where people can change the name on STs. But they are few and far between. It used to be very easy to do.

@placemats I think this is a good idea. You could pay a percentage of the season ticket determined by how many miles you lived from the stadium. 10 miles away, you pay 10%. I'd love that 😂

Never realised there was a rolling football thread, although ..... why on earth wouldn't there be?

I'm Chesterfield FC (League 2💙⚽)

Welcome from a Gills fan Smile I've just seen you've signed Remeao Hutton after his contract was mutually terminated today. I hope he works out for you, he has a mean long throw on him.

Hi Brefugee,

Thank you ⚽️🥰 Yes, I've read through the list of fans and teams 🙂 Hopefully I can get added on at some point, although I did miss roll call when if first came out 🤦‍♀️ I spend far too much time rolling my eyes in AIBU; this will be a VERY welcome distraction 😍

News from League 2: we're made at least four signings and fielded a number of triallists in our pre-season games. It generally takes me until about Christmas to get to know the squad 🤣

As for matches, I'm a season ticket holder and travel to most away games with the Spireites Over 55s Travel Club, which is me and a couple of mates. Sadly the group's name will update next year when two of us turn 60 (and the other turns 70) 😮

Looking forward to the season. We're looking for promotion to League 1. #COYB #WATAW ⚽️💙

Hi Lucy. I think you’ve signed Josh Koroma on loan from us (Leyton Orient). He should be really good. Great for us first time around but awful last season when we re- signed him. Looked completely uninterested. There were rumours that he fell out with our manager so hopefully will be OK for you. Also Ruel Sotiriou. We had him for a few years. Has talent but also an attitude. Good shots from outside the box. Hopefully his experiences over the last few seasons will get him to buckle down. As managers say “there is a player in there”! Good luck for the season.

Brefugee · 18/07/2026 10:31

Much excitement chez Bref because our shiny new season tickets arrived - in a lovely presentation box.

I'm just listening to Rock 'n' Roll Football on Absolute Radio. It is usually good, but it is excellent today.

The presenters are both called Matt and are both Forest fans.

Koroma can be great but I feel like he’s quite the confidence player and his head can be quick to drop if things don’t go his way.

I think it’s a reason why Huddersfield got rid.

I don’t think our Mr Wellens is one for putting an arm around a player. More of a blame anyone and everyone sort of character. Let’s face it he blamed the fans for failing to win a game at the end of last season!! Then apologised and said he was blaming the fans to protect the players. Then announced that players that stayed would have reduced contract offers as they were not worth what they were being paid. Didn’t blame himself though…

Ha! Yeah, I definitely don't see that with Wellens.

Koroma played his best football for us when Neil Warnock came back the season he just saved us from relegation to league 1.

Very sad news R.I.P king Kev. I hope the media leave his family alone.

RIP Mighty Mouse - what an impact you had ♥️

Tarkan · 21/07/2026 20:10

Hello from Gayfield. Scottish League Cup, local derby against Montrose. No Smokie pies though, had to go for a steak and black pudding instead.

Tarkan · 21/07/2026 21:57

Well that was horrendous. We left a good few minutes early as well as someone had already been arrested and rumours of the young ones fighting again were going around so wanted to get away before anything happened. Police are all over the town now so hopefully that’s enough to discourage them. Add us losing on top of that and I’m glad to be sitting down in the pub with a wine now.

Hellohah · 22/07/2026 06:36

@Tarkan what a first night back. No pies, fighting, police, a loss! You wouldn't give it up for the world though 😂

Manename · 22/07/2026 06:43

Morning all - settling in
Men Newcastle U
women generally only follow international

RIP King Kev, Don’t live in Newcastle now but can imagine the city will be very sad.
Out first game is home against Liverpool so im sure there will be a fitting tribute

Well, whether it happens or not is up to UEFA because without us the WC won't mean anything.

So it depends how much he will bribe the UEFA officials.

Hellohah · 29/07/2026 16:37

Not sure if many are aware but a load of United fans had their STs restricted following the clubs fight against touts. I believe other clubs have done similar, but not as many affected. Big Jim doesn't want ST holders. He wants tourists paying £100+ a game which he appears stupid enough to believe he will get, the daft knob!

Then some City fans posted a letter they'd received offering them a VIP ticket for their fixture at Old Trafford. £950 for a £30 capped ticket in the away end, but they get transport from the Etihad (all 5 miles of a journey), something to eat/drink and a meet with some club legends (Shaun Wright Phillips and Shay Given).

For many, clearly including FIFA, it's just not football anymore, it's a cash cow. Something really needs to be done to bring the game back down to earth because it's going to literally bleed itself dry if we carry on at this rate. Normal football fans don't have anymore to give.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 29/07/2026 17:25

@Hellohah

Yes, I read about that and just assumed that they were touts but you don't think that they are?

So you don't think that there are enough tourists to fill the stadium? I would have thought that there were as you have just a big following.

Most clubs don't want ST holders, but it's Man U who aren't even pretending that they do.

£950?

I think the genie is out of the bottle and I don't think that it will ever go back in again unless football fans stop paying which they won't.

There doesn't seem to be a limit to what the top clubs will pay for players nor a limit for players salaries. Most of the fans' salaries have stagnated, but they still want their club to sign the biggest player and pay them the highest salary.
