Nobody is talking about VAR then?

I was surprised at how quick the apology was issued.

It is just ridiculous.

Apology shortly after but City still gets the 3 points.
How is that fair?

I appreciate we can't change things after or it would never end but how was that goal allowed at all??

And (donning my red and white tin hat here) I don't think Sunderland's penalty should have stood either.
It didn't matter in the end outcome wise but Konsa was pulled down and judo rolled. The view from behind it did look a penalty but VAR had a front view and it was clear that he had Konsa by the arm and pulled him down. There was def contact by both players and I do think they need to crack down but this seems a ludicrous place to start.
Wayne Rooney and the other pundit whose name escapes me def thought no penalty and that players will be trying it.

Like I said-it didn't change the outcome but we should all still care about poor officiating.
The ref in the sunderland arsenal game some awful inexplicable yellows to both teams.
But with no accountability and seemingly untouchable they just carry on.

It was terrible officiating all game yesterday.
He won't care, but after watching back, I felt the Foden red was harsh. Should have been a yellow each for him and Bruno.

The time wasting was atrocious.
3 minutes for the VAR decision alone and only 5 minutes of extra time. Not that any more minutes would have got us a goal, we can't play against 10 men as @DuncinToffee will know.

I know it's swings and roundabouts with VAR, and I'm not going to moan about that decision, I'll let everyone else do that. We were awful. So were City.

Of course it was Michael Oliver as the ref as well.

DH and I were watching and couldn’t work out what the hell was going on when the goal was allowed as it looked obvious to us.

And yes the time wasting was crazy. Did they not say they were going to be much faster with VAR this season so there weren’t the same delays and then this just went back to how it was before.

it was clearly not a goal, Haaland knew that when he "scored" it. He was as stunned as the rest of us when after 42 hours of conflab the idiot VAR ruled it a good goal.

Tbh I don't think that the fact Michael Oliver was referee had anything to do with the goal - the decision was made by VAR.

My DS and DGS are at the Leeds match; we're watching with trepidation.

Indeed. The apology is totally useless.

It was clearly offside. If you ever wanted to explain the offside rule, Haaland's goal would be a good example, even with VAR.

@RafaistheKingofClay Finger's crossed, we'll remember the point of the post things against Villa on Saturday. Doubtful, but we live in hope (that's the Spurs way I think).

Well I hope that Brighton have used up all their goals in the last 2 games.

Laceys goal was outstanding and I hope he gets to celebrate it. Yet again though United standing around waiting for the ball. What happened to play the space?

Should also say I absolutely feel for Shay Lacey who started his first match for the club, he deserved so much more from those around him.

dreadful goal against port Vale

I don't think I've ever ventured into this football thread before, so hi! 👋

Long-suffering Spurs fan here. I had the pleasure of watching talents like Gazza, Lineker, Hoddle and Ginola play at White Hart Lane. In my lifetime we've always had a reputation for shaky defences, but we had creative, attacking midfielders and decent strikers to compensate haha.

So far this season our 'forwards' are a bloody embarrassment. Yes, we've had a few keepers playing out of their skins against us, but it's not just good saves stopping us scoring. Currently looking like it'll take a miracle to avoid relegation (again). Sigh.

this season has gone from bad to worse for Vale so far

I’ll take a draw when we came back from 2-0 down. Poor DH nearly went through the roof as he was snoozing on the sofa when our first goal went in and I yelled louder than I meant to. 🙈😇
