Well it's back to reality and our intense series of matches and hosting Rotherham at Vale Park tonight.

Right, we need a performance tonight. Sporting are no slouches, and I'm sure they'll have been doing their homework.

Comefromaway · 07/04/2026 20:43

This is awful. Ok we are winning at the moment but it’s because Rotherham are more shit than we are

TheNewGaard · 07/04/2026 21:55

Phew! I was going to be happy with a clean sheet, but to nick a goal at the end has definitely cheered me up!

Comefromaway · 07/04/2026 22:03

That was not pretty but I’ll take the points.

3 points is 3 points - doesn't matter how pretty especially when you need them! 😊

Brefugee · 08/04/2026 10:15

gosh yes - i will always take a 96th minute, offside, hand-ball, own-goal (as it were) to get points when necessary.

At the start of the season i want good football, one touch for preference, good set pieces but also goals from open play.

At the end of the season i will take everything over losing.

Anyone watching PSG v Liverpool…. We have the sound turned down to reduce the tension for LFC fans

TheNewGaard · 08/04/2026 21:25

Just watched the 2nd goal go in. I know I should be watching Barcelona v Atletico (potential next opponents and all that), but we decided to watch this instead.

TheNewGaard · 08/04/2026 21:29

Oh dear, penalty...

TheNewGaard · 08/04/2026 21:31

How TF is that not a penalty?

burblish · 08/04/2026 22:55

The results have obviously been frustrating. But you know what gets to me? It's the way we play. Liverpool teams have always played with spirit, energy, a certain swagger, JOY. Where has that all gone this season? 2-0 wasn't an appalling result in the context of the season and it being PSG. But I felt like I couldn't recognise the team in red. That really saddens me as a Liverpool fan.

@TheNewGaard I have zero appetite to watch any replays from that match but, when I saw the incident at the time, I thought we got away with one there. When they said VAR were checking it, I fully expected the ref to be called to the monitor. As I say, I haven't rewatched it so can't form a view on why VAR didn't call it.

TheNewGaard · 08/04/2026 23:22

Even on repeated showings I can't understand why VAR overruled it. It seems clear cut to me. And then there was another obvious one later not given. It all seems rather bizarre...

VAR were right to overturn the first penalty call: Konate got the ball with an excellent tackle and minimal contact on the PSG player. It was the second incident, in injury time, with the pull, that I thought he got away with. ETA: I thought it was the later incident you referred to in your earlier post, which is why I agreed with you. I don't agree with you at all on the first penalty call - it was correctly overturned in my opinion.

TheNewGaard · 09/04/2026 00:44

I disagree. He got the player's knee well before he made any contact with the ball. I honestly can't see the slightest argument for it not being given. It's utterly bizarre.

TheNewGaard · 11/04/2026 13:20

I'd like it if we played a bit better in the second half...

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 11/04/2026 13:49

Can I join please? Crystal Palace footie widow. At least they won against Fiorentina this week. Newcastle just above them in tomorrow’s game. Cannot call it.

MrsMitford3 · 11/04/2026 13:51

I think we look absolutely knackered.

Think the commentator said we have played 53 games to Bournemouths 34?
They haven't played in 22 days and we have played 3 times in that period including CL away.

Think lots of niggles and knocks in the team.

I would be happy to have gone out of the Carabo Cup in the first round just to avoid this fixture congestion.
I know easy to say once we are knocked out but it is just too much!

Itstheyearitstarts · 11/04/2026 14:22

Well I think that’s the title gone, FFS. We look dead on our feet and out of ideas.

Yes, we were totally outplayed. Can't even blame the referee.

I hope we win something, but whatever happens we have had a great season.

TheNewGaard · 11/04/2026 15:48

It's not over yet, but we have to be better than that. Bournemouth have been a bit of a bogey team for us recently, so I was always worried about this one.

Come on Chelsea, I guess...

Yes, it still in our hands.

It just wasn't a great time to play such a young team after their long break. Let's hope they can win against City as well, although I am not holding my breath.

DuncinToffee · 11/04/2026 17:00

Thought we were going to lose to a jammy Thiago goal but KDH got us the point, fair result for an even game.

Keeping Europe in sight
