Have a great day Brefugee.

And now Hull is threatening to take legal action if they lose play-off final Hmm

What a mess

I really wanted Hull to not win today, last few minutes for Middlesbrough.

Why?

MrsMitford3 · 23/05/2026 17:38

I think Hull winning was the fair result in an absolute cluster fuck of a situation.

I know if it was the team I supported playing in Hull's situation I'd think they deserved to go through.

Brefugee · 23/05/2026 17:47

Meh. It was inevitable given Boro can only play for 70 minutes and Hull score in the last 5 minutes...

Kirbert2 · 23/05/2026 17:51

I was hoping Hull would win, best outcome to the situation I think.

Itstheyearitstarts · 23/05/2026 17:56

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 23/05/2026 17:36

Why?

Because I think there chat regarding suing if they didn’t win just made me want them not to win, they weren’t really that disadvantaged in what was a terrible situation, not of their making. They also finished the lowest in the league. I think this is why I don’t like playoffs personally.

SixAndJuliet · 23/05/2026 18:10

Best outcome for sporting integrity.

AndNobbyDancing · 23/05/2026 18:13

Just checking in to say thanks and congratulations to Hull.

We managed to get tickets (having already booked accommodation) and for the first time in my life I pulled on another shirt.

As a lifelong supporter I am completely gutted by what went on, and for what will continue, in chants in stands and the general opinion of the club I love.

But Hull winning was the right outcome.

Now apologies to Spurs fans, but my lad is a massive fan, and for us to do a home and away in his last year at home, would be wonderful and would make a positive out of a dreadful situation.
So @DuncinToffee I'm counting on you.

Tarkan · 23/05/2026 18:30

Celtic won the Scottish Cup today. I would like to claim responsibility as every time I left the room they scored. The one time DH left the room Dunfermline scored. 🤣

But it’s good news for Hibs getting into Europe as a result so DH is happy with that.

Brefugee · 23/05/2026 18:57

I have always said- even when Wednesday won their playoff - that potentially the 6 club over a season goes up is batshit and i stand by that.

Lots of "taking it philosophically" Boro fans walking around.

DuncinToffee · 23/05/2026 19:51

Oh @AndNobbyDancing , never count on Everton, sorry.

I completely agree with you-

the pay-offs are all about more games and more money.

Surely the most deserving teams to go up are proven by the end of the season without play offs but they will never stop a wembley spectacular and the money it generates.
It's a shame...

westcott · 24/05/2026 15:03

Starting to feel nervous now. Aargh.

Yes, I think they should do away with the play offs but the money means they will never do that.
Same again, Stockport finished 3rd in the league but have lost to Bolton.

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2026 15:06

Good luck everyone!

LlynTegid · 24/05/2026 15:12

I would have preferred Stockport to win. No sympathy for their player sent off for hair pulling.

Tarkan · 24/05/2026 15:55

COYI ⚒️

Very nervous here too. Sadly I think it’ll be us going down but we’ll find out soon.

i also think it is rubbish that the first placed gets a trophy, the 2nd gets nothing and 3rd to 6th get the chance to play at wembley.

pshaw (oh and was that a typo or do you call them that, because it is exactly right)

The runners up in the Championship, League One and League Two each receive a trophy.

Brefugee · 24/05/2026 18:02

Glad to hear that

Tarkan · 24/05/2026 18:09

Well at least we won’t have to deal with VAR next season. Sigh.

I’m not blaming Everton either. We should have had more results like that during the rest of the season.

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2026 18:11

Sorry Hammer fans.

Huge relief for Spurs. I'm sorry for West Ham, Burnley and Wolves - best of luck for a swift return to the top flight. Well done to all the clubs that secured European football or trophies. Good riddance to a season that had the joy sucked out of it. I will try to summon some semblance of enthusiasm for the World Cup, I guess. Let's hope that, despite FIFA's best efforts to ruin the Beautiful Game, we get some reminders this summer of why it has that moniker.
