Happy New Year.

This is going to be an interesting year with the regulation change.

Rumours are Mercedes and RB engines are exploiting a loophole and so may have the most powerful engines.

AM will have a car with significant input from Adrian Newey.

Sauber becomes Audi and we have an 11th team, Cadillac.

Christian Horner seems very keen to get back into F1, preferably Alpine with Flávio - they deserve each other.

There is closed door testing in Barcelona then open testing from 11 February at Sakhir.

Edited for typo and thread title.

Poor Charles. Isaak on for a podium.

I wonder how many speeding limit penalties to come?

Red flag. 🚩

StitchHappens · 07/06/2026 15:38

Something not right with all these pit lane penalties.
I do feel for Charles, he must have been pissed to have been held up by Lewis's penalty being served in the first place, plus he has struggled with his brakes all weekend.

Pricesandvices · 07/06/2026 15:38

They've stopped? That's it?

gingercat02 · 07/06/2026 15:38

What on earth is going on? Have they decided the last corner surface is dangerous?

StitchHappens · 07/06/2026 15:40

Sounds like that's going to be it.
Whatever else has happened Kimi has done really well. Hadjar too.
Interested to see what the reason for the pit lane penalties is.

Brazilianadventure · 07/06/2026 15:41

This is interesting. Zac says it may be a build up of marbles. If it’s the race surface there is not a lot they can do.

So the race is about 1:35 time elapsed. The maximum race duration is 2 hours within a 3 hour window.

At 68 out of 78 laps I think they can give full points.

Thats not the start i was expecting!
I hope something happens...but not too optimistic.
They are so spread out, DS thinks Kimi could end up getting a free pit stop...not that he'll esp need it!
Hopefully another podium for Lewis

I hope something happens..

Sorry everyone! That didnt age well....

Lewis under investigation - no!

I know he isn’t popular but I really feel for George.

Pricesandvices · 07/06/2026 16:09

Obviously I can't see anything but it sounds like Lewis is going to be right behind Kimi? As much as I want Lewis to be at the top of the podium again I don't understand why Kimi has to lose his lead.
And almost everyone is getting done for speeding in the pit lane?

Brazilianadventure · 07/06/2026 16:23

They are going to have to sort the penalties to see who get 3rd place.

Well done Kimi a superb race. He really is a star.

Well that was as far from processional as you can get. Well done Kimi 👏

He really is. I know Monaco is seen as a boring race, but it takes a lot of skill from the drivers and he has raced beyond his years this weekend.

ItsmeMargo · 07/06/2026 16:51

Feel for Hadjar - seems like he’s reluctant to really celebrate in case it’s taken from him.

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope I like George! A relative has a friend in F2 so he goes to a lot of race weekends and has met a lot of the F1 drivers as well … he says that George was friendly and likeable.

Comefromaway · 07/06/2026 16:55

Just having a discussion with a family friend who is coming to Silverstone with us. He really dislikes George. Some people can’t see the human behind the persona.

Comefromaway · 07/06/2026 16:57

on Team Radio Oscar said he was doing the right speed in the pit lane so the sensor must be f***d

Fizbosshoes · 07/06/2026 16:58

I had to go out so missed the end, the irony being DS arranged his afternoon to meet at 4.30 so he could watch the gp first! So they did the podium....but might change it retrospectively?

Fizbosshoes · 07/06/2026 17:04

Comefromaway · 07/06/2026 16:57

on Team Radio Oscar said he was doing the right speed in the pit lane so the sensor must be f***d

But Zak dropped OP in it said Oscar was speeding according to their data....

I was interested that both clc and Lance Stroll insisted their nearly identical crashes were down to the car/brakes and not the track surface

F1LandoFan · 07/06/2026 18:15

Please can someone explain to me…. George got a 5 sec penalty for speeding in pit lane, didn’t serve it so had drive thru penalty as punishment. Why doesn’t the original 5 sec penalty not still have to be served?

But the drive through penalty would have ended up being way more than 5 seconds because it wasnt when he was pitting anyway. The pitstop sounded pretty confusing tbf

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 07/06/2026 18:28

Poor Pierre- his team didn’t tell him that he had the penalty so he thought he had finished p3. They told him on the cool down lap. No wonder if looked heartbroken in the after race interview.

Fizbosshoes · 07/06/2026 19:06

Im glad Hadjars podium stands but yeah thats tough for PG. I think a lot of disappointment throughout the field

I watched an Instagram post on McLarens page from Lando and he did a good job of putting a positive face despite the fact it must be galling to have so many DNS/DNFs this season.

I feel so sorry for him. A podium at any time for an Alpine is rare and a Monaco podium is so special.
