And congratulations (again) to Abbi Pulling, she won the Academy race yesterday and now officially has her crown back!

Brazilianadventure · 07/12/2024 10:50

@Sulusu Abi did it in such style getting the 3 fastest laps so she qualified on pole for all 3 races. This gave her the maximum 6 points, 2 for each pole.

I'm stuck indoors today due to stormy weather so get to watch free practice.

I'm so torn about having Doohan there and missing Occon.

Mick Doohan is one of my absolute fave drivers in F2, but Alpine are just so toxic, I hope they don't do him dirty.

Sigh. I meant Jack not Mick! I need some coffee clearly.

imworkinglatecosimasinger · 07/12/2024 11:09

Glad to see Nico Rosberg back for this last race of the season, I love his insight

Blueeyedmale · 07/12/2024 11:18

What's everyone's view on Sergio Perez will this be his last race?

Personally I hope not, there are a lot of egos in formula one at the moment and he is genuinely one of the nicest ones.

I know being nice doesn't win races but the constant pressure being told he may not survive the next race after getting a new contract can't been easy and destroyed his confidence.hope he gets more time to improve that confidence.

gingercat02 · 07/12/2024 11:24

Sorry, @Blueeyedmale Checo's time is up. He probably cost RBR the constructors title (I'm delighted McLaren won)
His qualification pace has been terrible, and his race pace is similar.
I, for one, will be glad if he goes.

I think it probably is his last race, despite what he is saying in interviews. I like Checo, and overall he has been a good number 2 driver for Red Bull. But he is in a slump this year, not sure why, but it happens to all drivers at some point. Unfortunately for him he is in a completely ruthless team and he will likely be out next year.

Maybe Red Bull will see if can reset over the winter break and give him another chance, but it's not looking likely judging by the rumours in the press.

F2 championship is going down to the wire. 6 points now between Bortoleto and Hadjar. That race should be exciting to watch tomorrow.

Brazilianadventure · 07/12/2024 14:47

Valtteri got into Q3 but Lewis and Charles starting near the back. Lewis was unlucky with the bollard and Charles with the grid penalty.

What a lap by Hulkenburg!

Sulusu · 07/12/2024 19:25

Ugh Hulkenburg got a 3 place grid penalty for overtaking in the pit lane. When watching it back was right as the drivers had been told it would be penalised on this track.

I suppose it's a bigger issue at Abu Dhabi as the pit lane exit is through a tunnel.

Brazilianadventure · 08/12/2024 12:23

Really lovely segment on Sky with Martin and Lewis driving some of his race winning cars. Along with an interview with Bono.

It was lovely to see the mechanics and senior staff like Andrew Shovlin watching them go down the straight.

Hoping for a Sainz win today. Will be a while before he gets another chance.

Apparently the McLaren lads are apparently under strict orders not to battle in order to secure the constructors. It will take a chaotic race for Ferrari to have a chance really.

gingercat02 · 08/12/2024 13:03

Here we go!

Brazilianadventure · 08/12/2024 13:07

Ouch Sergio out.

Charles up 11 places - wow.

Shambles of a first lap. Ferrari getting that chaos they need, Sulusu!

Brazilianadventure · 08/12/2024 13:11

I wanted to go out with a Lewis Win but a Sainz win would also be good.

Yeah 😂

I'm so torn. I want Sainz to win but McLaren to take the constructors.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2024 13:23

Max's penalty count on his licence is apparently quite high now. That will be interesting for most of next season.

Rowgtfc72 · 08/12/2024 13:27

Doesnt the penalty count reset?

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2024 13:29

No, it's just over a 12-month period.

Brazilianadventure · 08/12/2024 13:49

Bono has a plan for P3 - that would be so good, Sainz Norris and Hamilton perfect top 3. McLaren would win constructors.

OP posts:
Sulusu · 08/12/2024 14:01

Think Verstappen might end up with another penalty point too as his criticised the stewards on his radio.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2024 14:05

Yes, that was completely unprofessional and unwarranted. I bet they put it down to heat of the moment or somesuch.
