Anyone else watching today on day one?

I enjoyed the opening ceremony last night.

He fought so hard - true athlete right there. Never showed signs of giving in.

Ds is loving watching Ade driving channels 4s car because it has the hand controls. He's just got a mobility car with the hand controls and as important as it to see other people with disabilities competing it's great they are showing other areas of having a disability as "everyday". For many it's just what they do - but it normalises it iyswim?

Makes perfect sense

Shout out to Dimitri Coutya for his two individual golds and team silver in fencing, and mahoosive shout out to the extraordinary Poppy Maskill who has three golds and two silvers in swimming. To win one medal is hard enough, to win a gold is amazing, but multiple golds and silvers to boot - chapeau and then some!

I was also made up for Alfie Hewitt and Gordon Reid finally winning the wheelchair tennis doubles gold they have wanted so badly, after silvers in both Rio and Tokyo. I have my fingers crossed that Alfie can finally get his hands on the singles gold too.

Another fantastic day for Team GB!

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2024 08:05

Yeah massive good luck to Alfie Hewitt today trying g to complete the set!!!

Last day today.

Going to watch the swimming heats in a bit and whatever else is shown in between but have to head out later and then back to watch the rest!

DuncinToffee · 07/09/2024 10:49

Another exciting end sprint in the road race, Golden Graham Grin

HelenWheels · 07/09/2024 14:07

just watched the video of Peter and Stephen McGuire, boccia, an emotional watch

Sulusu · 07/09/2024 14:43

Alfie Hewitt in the final. He appeared to have had an injury, has had a medical time out but still seems in pain. Poor Alfie he has had such bad luck with the single olympic finals. 🙁

It was brilliant! Just managed to catch it before I had to go out.

Watching Alfie now whilst batch cooking!

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2024 16:02

Gosh Hewitt is certainly showing the athlete he is.

HelenWheels · 07/09/2024 17:11

an exhausting tennis, he fought back

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2024 17:13

Was an amazing match. Both players were brilliant and either deserved to win.

Just wish it had been Alfie.

HelenWheels · 07/09/2024 17:14

yes i wish it had Alfie also

rockingbird · 07/09/2024 17:21

Basketball final this evening, I can't wait!!

burblish · 07/09/2024 17:22

Excruciating for Alfie Hewitt after having match point - he fought so hard.

DuncinToffee · 07/09/2024 17:26

I don't usually watch tennis but was hooked by this match.

Same here. I usually just dip in and out and generally follow an interesting match. But this one reeled me in and I was hooked!

Another great evening of swimming.

So pleased for Stephen Clegg - another gold 🥳

He's so lovely and on my ds first international camp and competition with Team GB he was there and really helped him. Or rather tried to help him with relay takeovers - but co ordination problems didn't yield the best results 🫣😂

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2024 19:05

DS co ordination problems that is - he's a physical class swimmer.

burblish · 07/09/2024 19:39

Stephen Clegg - I loved his interview. He seems like a wonderful person, as you say @itsgettingweird

What a race in the women's T34 800m - so, so close to a GB clean sweep, with gold for the peerless Hannah Cockroft, an excellent silver for Kare Adenegan and Fabienne Andre only just pipped for bronze. Wow!

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2024 19:44

Hannah absolutely smashed that!! She was in a race of her own and gets married in just under a month!!!

burblish · 07/09/2024 20:30

Gutted for Aled Davies - a fine silver, but he so wanted to defend his title.

Feeling the nerves ahead of the men's wheelchair basketball gold medal match - come on GB!

HelenWheels · 07/09/2024 20:37

blind football is fascinating

blind football is fascinating

Isn't it just.

I watched the episode of The Last leg where they showed the interactive pitch that blind competitions could feel that showed where the ball was as the game went on.

burblish · 07/09/2024 20:50

Lee Manning (GB wheelchair basketball player) is an absolute BEAST!

DuncinToffee · 07/09/2024 22:09

That was an exciting game! Shame it was the US who won Grin

rockingbird · 07/09/2024 22:10

My goodness!!!! What a game, they did amazing
