Anyone else watching today on day one?

I enjoyed the opening ceremony last night.

Nervous for Johnny peacock

Gutted for him. He's such a nice guy. Wears his heart on his sleeve and so so much for younger amputee children and encouraging them into the sport.

HelenWheels · 02/09/2024 18:59

Legend Johnny hope there is success in the relay

murasaki · 02/09/2024 19:26

So pleased for Jodie Grinham and Nathan McQueen in the archery, gold to add to her bronze at 7 months pregnant.

itsgettingweird · 02/09/2024 20:40

She was so funny in her post interview. I love that people get to see the athletes for who they are.

burblish · 03/09/2024 19:13

The gold rush has momentarily halted so far today; the team have been so outstanding, they've spoiled us! 😄

itsgettingweird · 03/09/2024 19:19

We are about to have the woman's 100m fly final. We could be in for a medal there - or even 2 if Faye and Callie do what they can. 🤞

DuncinToffee · 03/09/2024 19:28

Just started watching and trying to catch up. The Dutch women were 1 and 2 in the T64 200m

DuncinToffee · 03/09/2024 19:39

Gold and Silver! 100m Fly

CMOTDibbler · 03/09/2024 19:44

I'm at the swimming tonight, and that 100m fly was amazing

HelenWheels · 03/09/2024 19:54

fantastic @CMOTDibbler

CMOTDibbler · 03/09/2024 19:58

And it was a last minute decision to come tonight, but it was E15 well spent! Giving everyone a flag seems to make everyone (all 14,000) a bit more animated if that is possible

Awww how lovely. Bet the atmosphere is amazing. I was lucky enough to be at trials as ds was there and they had AB and paras all competing.

I'm gutted I've had to settle watching the actual thing via TV (mostly on catch up because work have this thing about me going in 🤔😂)

itsgettingweird · 03/09/2024 20:08

Wow - can't believe you tickets so cheap! What an amazing opportunity and glad you had a good time.

caringcarer · 03/09/2024 20:51

I can't believe how many medals our para athletes have won and so many golds. I love watching it. Wheelchair tennis and table tennis this evening. Brilliant swimming and mens wheelchair basketball too.

HelenWheels · 04/09/2024 05:34

the blind footballers were riveting

Sulusu · 04/09/2024 10:50

Gold for Sarah Storey this morning. 🏅

burblish · 04/09/2024 11:25

Dame Sarah Storey, you absolute LEGEND!

Interesting to hear from her afterwards that the women cyclists complained beforehand about the below standard length of the course and felt short changed by it. Such a shame to effectively sideline and patronise these elite female athletes in this way.

murasaki · 04/09/2024 12:02

She was right, it was patronising. I also liked when Johnny Peacock said there should be some para events in the Diamond League, good to see these athletes calling out the tokenism and pushing for change when they have the eye of the mainstream media, which, as they say, isn't often.

Sulusu · 04/09/2024 19:43

Gold for Sammi Kinghorn at last! She has had lots of silvers so it's nice to her with the gold.

Great to see. And a gold for Dmitri Coutya in fencing, I used to fence at school so enjoyed watching that.

HelenWheels · 04/09/2024 19:59

fabulous fencing gold

Sulusu · 05/09/2024 09:27

Good morning.

Looking at the medal table, I think the USA will likely overtake GB by the end maybe. They are strong in track and field in quite a few events.

Weather looks absolutely shite in the Stade de France. Pouring with rain and the crowd are all looking really cold. Not much fun for the athletes this morning.
