Can't find a thread so thought I'd start one nice and early for some pre chat.

Really don't think either England or Wales are going to get out of the pool rounds 🙁

Only seen the last twenty minutes, but this is rugby played at an altogether higher level. Good skill levels and organisation.

AndNobbyDancing · 15/10/2023 20:48

This is showcase rugby, I thought the Ireland game was a step up but this is another level.

We want 🇫🇷

Hedjwitch · 15/10/2023 20:50

This game is unbelievable!

KnickerlessParsons · 15/10/2023 20:52

I'm out of breath just watching it.

And wishing Wales had never let Shaun Edwards go - it could have been us!

Thankful to have seen him play in his heyday.

algasport · 15/10/2023 20:55

It probably would have been the final if SA or NZ had won their group which was totally possible.

algasport · 15/10/2023 20:56

Wonderful match- just a different level.

algasport · 15/10/2023 21:01

@GonnaGetGoingReturns
Nobody expected England to even get out of their group to be fair!

Warmhandscoldheart · 15/10/2023 21:06

Boo de Klerk 👎

oceanskye · 15/10/2023 21:06

It's Monday morning in NZ and I'm supposed to be working but keep checking the game - so good!

Thunderpunt · 15/10/2023 21:10

Incredible game

duc748 · 15/10/2023 21:28

That yellow card; just his own poor technique? Don't care how tall he is, it's up to him to get his head down the side of the ball-carrier, not to head-butt his shoulder. Really good contest, though. SA are a lot better watch than they used to be.

duc748 · 15/10/2023 21:38

That said, he is some player, that Exocet fella. As they say, a lot of skill for a big man.

GrouchyKiwi · 15/10/2023 21:51

Etzebeth is amazing (and really gets into the opposition's heads).

algasport · 15/10/2023 21:54

Omg!

oceanskye · 15/10/2023 21:54

Wow... its actually more fun watching as a neutral, or more relaxing at least!

GrouchyKiwi · 15/10/2023 21:57

That was an excellent match.

And yes, MUCH more relaxing as a neutral!

I'd have preferred France to win, I think. If the ABs win our semi final, then I'd have been OK losing to France in the final. Would NOT be OK losing to South Africa as they'd then have 4 World Cups to our 3. Wink

algasport · 15/10/2023 21:58

Maybe it's better to have 4 amazing quarterfinals than one great final....

If both SA and NZ make it to the final, I think either team would rather die on the field than let the other be the first to 4 cups!

KnickerlessParsons · 15/10/2023 22:00

A bit pissed off that only one northern hemisphere team has made it through to the semis. And feel that both France and Ireland deserve it more than England, who had the easiest draw.

That was a great match. Amazing from both sides but I think South Africa seemed more in control at the end although would have preferred France to win.

oceanskye · 15/10/2023 22:04

There really is nothing between NZ/SA/Ireland/France, such close games, both could have gone either way at any minute.

GrouchyKiwi · 15/10/2023 22:07

I'm astounded NZ managed to defend 37 phases last night as IMO defence has always been our weaker spot. If opposition scored a try we'd just shrug and score two more ourselves.

MainlyOnThePlain · 15/10/2023 22:11

One thing I've really noticed and liked in this tournament is the way teams acknowledge their opponents' efforts in the post-match interviews, even if it's been a bit one-sided.

Wakemeuuuup · 15/10/2023 22:16

What is it with the southern hemisphere teams being able to go up a gear in the knockout stages in world cups, why can't 6 nations teams do the same?

Well done England. I'll be amazed if it's not a NZ SA final
