I am so so disappointed for Lewis. And he's just so graceful about it. I'd be stomping my feet!!

Wait for the interview with Toto. That might not be so graceful.
insancerre · 12/12/2021 15:28

That was epic!
Well done Max
So pleased for him

Sunbeams09 · 12/12/2021 15:28

Lewis conducted himself very well. I don’t blame Max as such but I am disgusted with that decision. I can’t imagine that’s the last well hear of this

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/12/2021 15:29

I’m so fucking pleased 😃 I screamed YES YES YES so loud my voice hurts and my husbands street cred has gone right up. I still can’t speak properly.

Fuck you Toto. Anytime I see Toto in pain is a good day,

Perez defending was legendary! Total star.

Stellaris22 · 12/12/2021 15:30

I don't agree with the lapped cars being allowed to overtake, and Verstappen kept edging in front of Hamilton behind the safety car.

After everything Hamilton has done to stop the team being associated with Greenfell via advertising.

It does feel like the call was overwhelmingly in Verstappens favour.

ListenLinda · 12/12/2021 15:31

Disgraceful. I don’t hate Max at all but that was so controversial and has left a sour taste.

ReginaaPhalange · 12/12/2021 15:33

@Fluffycloudland77 checo was a total star and deserved driver of the day for that lol!!!

Did we find out why he was retired from the race?

I'm still laughing from the race a few weeks ago when Toto flung his headset down in a rage 🤣🤣

OP posts:
alwayswrighty · 12/12/2021 15:33

I'm waiting for an enquiry and an overturn tbh. Both are brilliant drivers and are deserving in my eyes but its been controversial.

ListenLinda · 12/12/2021 15:35

I dont think it will be overturned but Mercedes will certainly put their point across.

Olinguito · 12/12/2021 15:37

Shocking - race control just gave that to Verstappen. Feel very sorry for Lewis who had a substantial lead wiped out by that decision.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/12/2021 15:37

Mercedes are just embarrassing themselves now. “No Michael noooo”

Totos boss at merc was there today too.

insancerre · 12/12/2021 15:40

But Hamilton shouldn’t have been in the lead, he gained track advantage by going off the track at the beginning
It’s called karma

ReginaaPhalange · 12/12/2021 15:40

That's fine, let them invalidate the race and the winner will be based on race wins.... won't change the result in that case

Exact thing happened with max in Saudi and he had to give the position back. Can't all have it their way. Hamilton defo gained an advantage and that was not right.
OP posts:
Mysterian · 12/12/2021 15:44

I wonder who's going to win?

After the appeals and court cases etc.

ChequerBoard · 12/12/2021 15:45

Err no, Max did his trademark poor driving move to force Lewis off the track. How many times has he done that this season?

It's blatant cheating.

ReginaaPhalange · 12/12/2021 15:45

@Mysterian that all depends if the FIA accepts the appeal.

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 12/12/2021 15:55

If the FIA accept the appeal then RB can appeal every decision they don’t like too next year. Toto has too much influence, he’s a malign influence on the sport. They've spent a lot of money and expect it to buy them victory.

Max had faster newer tires, MB chose to leave Lewis out there on scrubbed hard tires. They didn’t have to do that. Max had one lap to get that done and he pulled it off. Bottas, as per usual, was way down the field and couldn’t support him.

It’s sport, just like the rest of life you don’t always get what you want.

ReginaaPhalange · 12/12/2021 16:00

@Fluffycloudland77

1000000000% this! If your favourite doesn't win, it's only natural to look for the faults as to why they didn't win. It would be the same if Lewis won.

End of the day; no one was injured, it was a bloody intense last lap, but more importantly, it's sport. It's the name of the game.

Heard checo didn't have enough regulation fuel left apparently, so even if he did end up on the podium, his result would have been invalidated. Not sure how true that is though.... just the mumbles online.

But RB have been appealing decisions all season when they don't suit them. That's not a reason for MB not to complain about the rules not being applied correctly on the final lap of a world championship deciding race.

ListenLinda · 12/12/2021 16:03

Lewis gave up the advantage he gained when Max forced him off the track.

ReginaaPhalange · 12/12/2021 16:03

update on Twitter is that checo had an oil leak and RB retired him to stop him staying on the track, causing oil spill, which would make the safety car stay out, meaning Lewis would have won behind the safety car.

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 12/12/2021 16:09

I do love a bit of Toto pain. Ceo of MB not keen on him. Totally unprofessional behaviour.

Did I like it when Lewis won last year? No. But I was still happy for him because that’s life.

I feel for Michael massi, he shouldn’t have team principals screaming at him.
