The purpose of the elaborate run up is to send the keeper one way, then kick it in the empty side of the goal. He did the hard bit by sending the keeper the wrong way. That’s what the run up was for. Not arrogance. Not ego. To send the keeper diving before you kick the ball.

It's a complete guess which way the ball is going to go. He was more focused on his special 'tricks' than using his skill. Regardless, it does not matter in the slightest if he can make the goalkeeper go left, right, up, down or round and round in circles. If he cannot hit the target, it makes so difference if there's no one in goal.

From a more philosophical perspective, England just aren’t that good at penalties. Doesn’t seem to matter who takes them.

Perhaps they need to find somebody massive to practice them against?

They played so well!
I’m only 22 myself but I can’t imagine the pressure on Saka! He’s so special, they all are.
We’ll win again soon but for now we made huge progress in the right direction and we’re just warming up for the World Cup!

My partner is Italian so he’s happy but thinks the Italians are more prepared to take yellow cards over shots at their goal (especially in a final). This all comes with experience… sometimes they need to make that call (I personally think it’s dirty play but I know it makes sense)

The Italian team is brilliant so I don’t mean they didn’t deserve the win but we did so well too

This is the first English team I've a really liked, I hated the John Terry, Ashley Cole, Wayne Rooney era, they looked like they were doing you a favour by just turning up, this young team just seem like a decent bunch of blokes led by a good manager.

Plenty of players have little rituals when taking penalties, I don't see how that suggests he has a big ego. The Italian goalkeeper is pretty fucking good, to get him diving the other way was good, it's just a shame he misjudged it.

They think he's got an ego because he's black. How very dare he approach a penalty the way he wants. And how dare he miss? He's not grateful enough to be in this country.

Same comments with Pogba when he plays for United: 'showboating', 'arrogant', 'lazy'. You never get criticism like this about white players.
