Can't see a thread on this ....

Any rugby lovers here? Not many of my girlfriends share my love of rugby.

France/Argentina - cracking close match.

Japan/Russia - glad the home team won.

Australia/Fiji fantastic first half.

And now the All Blacks v Springboks - can't wait ....

Uh oh. I wanted Japan to win but not get the bonus point. I'm scottish!

AlunWynsKnee · 05/10/2019 13:29

Big trouble for Scotland now then. They're going to have to play out of their skin to stay in this.

TanteRose · 05/10/2019 13:30

Incredible that they got the bonus Grin
Watch out Scotland Wink

Horehound · 05/10/2019 13:32

Scotland should win against Russia..easily hopefully!

Horehound · 05/10/2019 13:35

But we need to score lots of points.
Ireland, Japan and Scotland could all end on 15 points and then it comes down to point difference from the games to decide who goes through!

AlunWynsKnee · 05/10/2019 13:41

Yes you'll need a BP and a big win over Russia to up the pd and then score a BP win over Japan avoiding a narrow win.

AlunWynsKnee · 05/10/2019 13:46

Correcting mysel. You'll be OK with 2 BP wins as long as Japan don't get the losing bonus.

MrsJoshNavidi · 05/10/2019 13:56

I've found my people! I was just about to start a RWC thread because I hadn't seen one, but this just popped up. 😁

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇯🇵 final, with a win for 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿!!!!

massistar · 05/10/2019 14:34

Bloody Samoa. Could they not have pulled something out the bag? 🤣 Japan v Scotland = squeaky bum time! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

minmooch · 06/10/2019 10:40

Ahhh Tonga - what a game - took it right to the edge.

I've just listened to the Scrum V podcast: Mike Tindall has said that he'll wear a Wales jersey for the final if Wales make it through, even if they're playing England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🍻

AnOojamaflip · 06/10/2019 13:02

For a bet?

MrsJoshNavidi · 06/10/2019 13:19

Yes

cricketmum84 · 06/10/2019 13:21

Missed all the action this morning as DH wanted to watch NRL grand final.

Sat the sulking and pointing out all the reasons RL is less exciting than RU 😂

TanteRose · 07/10/2019 07:24

good summary of where we are at this point.

massistar · 07/10/2019 13:40

Potential that the Ireland v Samoa match could be called off and declared a draw due to hurricane forecast. Whilst that would be hideously unfair to the Irish it could pave the way for Scotland and Japan qualifying from Group A which would make me very happy.

AlunWynsKnee · 07/10/2019 14:49

Hmm. Wales v Uruguay also potentially affected. A scoreless draw there could affect us too I think. Assuming we beat Fiji (not counting chickens) could a scoreless draw mean Australia win the group?

TanteRose · 07/10/2019 15:35

England - France also in danger.

The typhoon is a biggie - probably the biggest one we've had this season Shock

Still not sure of the course and speed so everything could still be on schedule

AlunWynsKnee · 07/10/2019 17:15

I hope it doesn't hit Tante for the sake of the people in the path as well as the rugby.

Horehound · 07/10/2019 18:01

Yikes hope it isn't bad!

massistar · 07/10/2019 18:07

Apologies Tanterose... just reread my comment and realised it's a tad insensitive! Clearly rugby takes a back seat and hope that it's not too bad for folk living there!

MrsJoshNavidi · 07/10/2019 19:13

Why on Earth was the championship scheduled in typhoon season?

(Is there such a thing as a season for typhoons, or are they all year round?)

beanaseireann · 08/10/2019 01:25

MrsJoshNavidi
My sentiment exactly.
Apparently the World Athletics Championships are being held in Doha Shock and the heat is unbearable.
Who makes these decisions?
The Scots voted against Ireland hosting the Rugby World Cup in 2023. Sad

TanteRose · 08/10/2019 01:42

@massistar absolutely no worries - even on the Japanese news last night, they were saying that the typhoon might be advantageous for Japan! Grin

But yeah, typhoon season stretches from July to October...and then the summer is almost unbearably hot (which does not bode well for the Tokyo Olympics next year ShockConfused )

Typhoons are nothing unusual but they have been getting more powerful recently (because climate change) so this one is a bit of a worry - especially as it will hit on the weekend and there are loads of foreign visitors here for the RWC so if the trains stop, it will be chaos!
