In the spirit of previous rolling Football threads, would posters sign in with:

  1. What country/countries you support
  2. What country teams you particularly dislike (Euro or world)?
  3. What things your family are doing to get your kids excited about the Euro 2016 tournament?
  4. A comment about a player or two, or an issue or two.

Next ten mins says whether England will be playing on Saturday or Monday.

This affects my family's weekend plans quite a lot.

What won't change is that Russia's going home.

Fuck off Russia.

Well done Wales!
I don't know why I persevered with watching the England game, it wasn't good.

Taytocrisps · 20/06/2016 23:04

Just caught the results of tonight's matches and couldn't believe it!

Well done Wales Dragon

Hard luck England

BadLad · 20/06/2016 23:56

Chesterfield have signed a certain Mr. C.Evans.

I wonder if they thought this would be good timing - football fans distracted by Euro 2016 and everybody distracted by the referendum.

GrimmauldPlace · 21/06/2016 06:38

I'm quite pleased England got second. Happy for Wales, they've done really well. Plus now it means if we win the round of 16 match we won't be playing the next match on my birthday which I was worried about!

Was not impressed with Wilshire at all. Screaming at the TV to get him off for half the match.

Saw that about Ched Evans. I'm actually surprised there's not much uproar. I think it's stupid of them, better to wait until after his retrial and see what happens there.

ThisPanCanCan · 21/06/2016 07:24

So plucky little England, with no decent recent record and only scoring 3 goals managed to get out of the group. They've done really well!!

Lweji · 21/06/2016 08:07

Surely people expected more, considering how crappy everyone was considering Wales earlier on and the chances of England winning this along with France, Germany and Spain.

Orangetoffee · 21/06/2016 08:09

Grin Pan

GrimmauldPlace · 21/06/2016 08:11

In my experience it's best not to expect too much from England. Saves the massive disappointment if we do badly and is a lovely surprise if we do well Grin

Lweji · 21/06/2016 08:18

Yes, and no, I expected feared Ronaldo would miss that penalty and he did.

But Champions don't always start great, so every team has a chance.

BelfastBloke · 21/06/2016 12:45

Trouble is, England are now on a more difficult route. Get thru the round of 16, and France await in the quarter finals. Don't forget that France were one of the heavily favoured teams, and of course it's their tournament. After that the semis would be Spain, or Germany, wouldn't it?

Looks like the theory that England play better against the better teams, is about to be put to the test...

Well done Croatia.

I have a soft spot for the Czech Republic though. Sad

BestIsWest · 21/06/2016 22:02

Glad that NI are through as well.

derxa · 21/06/2016 22:07

Well done NI

Lweji · 21/06/2016 22:11

Are they? I hadn't realised they were on a good 3rd.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/06/2016 22:28

Please ROI beat Italy Shamrock

BelfastBloke · 22/06/2016 13:15

Lots of changes to the Italian team to face ROI tonight.

That's not necessarily a good thing for ROI though, Italians attempting to impress their manager.

Disappointingly, seems that the Italian manager is very good, just before he takes over at Chelsea.
