Calling the MN peloton. No Yorkshire this time. Sad Interesting looking route though.

Looks around at empty tarmac. Not sure if I'm a peloton escapado, or the lantern rouge..
Keeps on spinning, considering the importance of Cav's tour win, and what did happen to Omega Pharma. And most importantly, should I fix mud guards onto Spesh? And if so should they be classic full wheel guards, or crud catchers? I'm favouring classics for the aesthetics.
Spins on, lost in own thoughts.Bike

Evening, Pan.

Just finished watching Cav's tour win, he's of course "super 'appy" about it.

Mud guards, hmm? Depends how often you like washing your gear, I suppose Grin I'd go for classics, they'll look better.

I think you're right DA and for the right reason! Washing kit after one ride is a real pain. Classics it is.
Weather. Riding home last week I was snowed on (quite nice). Hailstones, not so nice. Then had a gritter lorry go by. Brick chips at 100mph hurt!(not something they get in Dubai?) Spech may be pretty and all, but the Boardman hybrid just gets on with it, no matter what.SmileBike

Feeling a bit hopeful for Cav. No, there wasn't Kittel at al there but there were top notch riders and teams, and taking the title must be a big confidence boost, not to say excellent lead out training?

ariadneoliver · 08/02/2015 10:25

Finally caught up with the breakaway. Nice start for the year for Cav, he did well on stage 3 not to lose too much time and Degenkolb was amazing although it was a shame he couldn't challenge on the last stage.
Tour of Qatar today, I am trying to track down some live streaming. It's Wiggos first outing in his TT champion jersey so both Sky and Etixx should be very motivated and we are promised echelons which are always fun to watch.

thanks ariadne! Those update links are all warned by AVG as fake riskies.

ariadneoliver · 08/02/2015 13:48

I'm running the sporting video one with no problems, and I have Avast for anti virus protection. It's even playing on the ipad but the sound is v poor on that so am using the PC

derailleurdePan · 08/02/2015 13:58

I'm just clicking them out of the way. It looks a gorgeous sunset. And odd to have quick speak French interrupted with the occasional BOOM!

ariadneoliver · 08/02/2015 14:24

Well that was unexpected, I didn't think Rojas would prevail. Still at least Tom Boonen is on the podium. Poor Peter Sagan though, it's the TdF all over again ...

derailleurdePan · 08/02/2015 14:34

yes it was BOONen wasn't it?Blush
Pete just didn't get on the wheel and hold it, did he? Didn't hear any ref. to Lord Wiggo either..

ariadneoliver · 08/02/2015 15:00

Confusingly I think Lars Boom was also there. Grin Sky really didn't do much at all, some props to Astana for at least animating things.

Branleuse · 08/02/2015 16:02

ive got one of those cyclists stay awesome stickers on the back of my car :)

Ordered it the other week, after seeing one on a van

ariadneoliver · 10/02/2015 09:42

And Sagan was 4th again! Missed the live coverage yesterday due to work but have caught up with the last 5k online with Arabic commentary. TT today so Wiggo might put some effort in.

ShutUpLegs · 10/02/2015 09:47

ariadneoliver · 13/02/2015 20:38

Have been lax with the Tour of Qatar, Alexander Kristoff took stages 4 and 5 in fine style. And Sam Bennett who is definitely one to watch took the final stage. Etixx, in a ruthlessly efficient fashion managed to protect their lead giving the overall win to Niki Terpstra and taking the team prize.

ariadneoliver · 15/02/2015 10:57

For those of you with TV5monde (Sky channel 796) La Tropicale starts next week with highlights at 8pm each evening. <a class="break-all" href="http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=www.tropicaleamissabongo.com/&prev=search" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">see here for the race website and <a class="break-all" href="http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=www.tropicaleamissabongo.com/&prev=search" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here for the teams
It is basically the Tour of Gabon, so some great scenery and the chance to see the top African riders. Bike Bike

I'm watching the Tour of Andalusia with interest, as it's the first head to head of the season between Froomey & Bertie.

Bertie is leading the GC after Stage 1 followed by a short TT, and has 8 seconds over Froome, who's in fourth place. Lots of mountains to come, and two uphill finishes. It's being shown on Eurosport.

FelixFelix · 22/02/2015 19:07

Alpaca I've been watching too. Just catching up on today's stage. How Froome managed to create a 30 second gap right at the end of the climb yesterday I have no idea! Shock

DramaAlpaca · 22/02/2015 22:06

Hi Felix, yes that was pretty impressive, especially as he looked dead in the water after Contador's stinging attack the previous day.

Froome & Contador are both looking in great form this early in the season.

ShutUpLegs · 23/02/2015 11:34

We all huddled round the lap top yesterday to watch the closing 10km of both stages - pretty impressive stuff all round. And big G had a good day at the office too. It is shaping up to be a good road season. unlike the Track

DramaAlpaca · 23/02/2015 15:32

Let's not talk about the Track. Oh dear Sad
