Calling the MN peloton. No Yorkshire this time. Sad Interesting looking route though.

I resurrected the cycling thread last week and posted a picture today. Can't link as I'm on the app Sad

FelixFelix · 12/11/2014 22:56

It's in the exercise section if that helps Grin

PanIsNotAButterfly · 12/11/2014 22:57

I will go and look! The joy of a new bike needs to be shared.

PanIsNotAButterfly · 12/11/2014 23:07

Can't cut an paste it..but....it's gorge. A Bianchi frame! My buddy has a v old classic Bianchi, in the old colour that he used to ride from Manchester to the ferry to Shetlands....just the name on a frame stands out. Well done you! Bike

FelixFelix · 12/11/2014 23:09

It's lovely isn't it! Well done to my DP for finding it for me. Hes very jealous as its waaaaay better than the Triban 3 he had as his first bike (now his commuting/winter training bike) and he's a foot taller than me so he can't ride it. Mwuhahahaha Grin

PanIsNotAButterfly · 12/11/2014 23:14

My recreation bike, the Spech, has "Specialised" in BIG white letters on the frame. Understated it isn;t. Smile

FelixFelix · 12/11/2014 23:18

Make sure everyone can see you coming Grin

PanIsNotAButterfly · 12/11/2014 23:21

True.Grin

EndoplasmicReticulum · 03/12/2014 06:46

Interesting cycling story on BBC news website this morning, can't link as on phone but it's about a cyclist called Christian haettich who cycles over the Pyrenees, worth looking up.

DoctorTwo · 03/12/2014 08:33

Holy shit! Shock This is the chap(eau) Endo is talking about.

OP posts:
EndoplasmicReticulum · 03/12/2014 20:29

Yup that's him. Chapeau indeed.

PanISAButterfly · 07/12/2014 13:19

Chapeau! It's the sort of reminder I need when I look out of the window in the mornings and think 'it's a bit too dark/cold/rainy to ride to work....'. Wuss!

Is it timely to consider Bike related gifts we are ordering/giving this Christmas? Books, equip, clothing, vides, anything? I'm putting in a bid for a B'twin 7000 floor pump from one Christmas, and a vid of those magical Tour de Yorkshire days, if I can find one.
Bike

And it looks like Froomey has changed his mind about le tour this year - from querying his ride, he's now making it his opus major for 2015. Funny man.

DeePancrisPandevenistaken · 09/12/2014 19:26

And it's only a few short Christmas left overs until the UCI calendar 2015 starts us all over again, with a quick trip round the barbie in Oz.....arrange holidays, or your time on remand, with this list.Grin

anyone hear the R5 item this evening on 'inside the mind of a cyclist'? Really interesting 2 hrs. Available as a podcast apparently. Bike

LostyTheSnowman · 18/12/2014 23:00

.

Looking at the dates and if I win the lottery I think I could do the last week of the tour with my boys, assorted tents and a following wind. Camping up the Alpe d'Huez will be fiiiine surely?

DeePancrisPandevenistaken · 18/12/2014 23:04

It'll be perfect m'dear.

I'm still harbouring a fantasy of being in Paris for a Cav sprint win....hey-ho. Bike

LostyTheSnowman · 20/12/2014 15:50

It could happen, it could! if we manage to knock Kittel off the week before Wink

DeePancrisPandevenistaken · 22/12/2014 11:42

Eh-up! That race list is out-of-date already. Tour de Yorkshire May 1-3, including such exotica as Scarborough and Bridlington. Who needs Corsica??!!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 22/12/2014 13:26

Have put T de Y in my diary, my parents live out that way so will be paying them a visit! There has been talk of a race in Harrogate too, well it was in the local paper but can't find much online.

DeePancrisPandevenistaken · 23/12/2014 21:54

Endo, with so little opportunities for pro-bike views I'm waiting to see how the start-end programme will work out, and get over to Yorks for one of the stages at least. It was such a buzz in summer to be surrounded by 1,000s of bikes I want to re-live it..me and a matey are planning to camp, once we know where!

The word on the street is that Father Christmas will indeed deliver a floor pump on Christmas Day! No more chasing round an upturned bike across the kitchen floor as the tyre pressure increases.Grin

Hope all is well for the peloton at Christmas!Bike

LostyTheSnowman · 23/12/2014 21:54

Some of us will be there because it is home (sorry, hueeerme in the local language) Pan. I will be leaving my away base in Wales for that little spectacular. Local tour guide available for hire right here Grin.

Just looking at hotel rooms for the tour, Alpe d'Huez has totally booked out and I'm getting wibbles at camping. Not so much the chilly evenings just remembering the state of the portaloos on site after the hordes had all left. I'm not going into details but you didn't actually have to go within 50 feet to see how awful they were. Uck.

DramaAlpaca · 24/12/2014 01:24

Just re-found this thread Xmas Smile

DH is getting lots of cycling bits & pieces for Xmas, including a mini pump, winter socks and a bottle holder & bottle that co-ordinates with his bike.

Wishing all the MN peloton a happy Christmas & hope you all keep the rubber side down in 2015 Xmas Grin. Looking forward to chatting to you all at the Tour Down Under.

ariadneoliver · 24/12/2014 09:32

Just to remind everyone, the Christmas quiz is imminent (i.e. some time today) Grin Bike

DeePancrisPandevenistaken · 24/12/2014 12:02

ooh ooh, the quiz! Bike

ariadneoliver · 24/12/2014 12:08

It's up. Good luck!
