I'm going to really miss the olympics & Paralympics - they've been totally brilliant Grin & Sad

PersonalClown · 09/09/2012 20:55

I'm just shallow and wondering where I'm going to get my Oscar fix from!

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 09/09/2012 20:55

This is ace.

travellingwilbury · 09/09/2012 20:57

It is marvellous isn't it ? My six yr old has just run to bed , not too keen on the winged stuff , win win for me .

flamingtoaster · 09/09/2012 20:59

I'm loving this - and so sad it's all finishing too.

showtunesgirl · 09/09/2012 20:59

Another one who is going to miss it all. I got to go six times to the Paralympics and once to the Olympics.

I'm so going to miss the Gamesmakers as well. Whatever happy pills they took, seemed to work and London was a much happier place with them. (Disclaimer, I have no proof they took happy pills, but they were VERY, VERY happy people!)

janey68 · 09/09/2012 21:00

Hmm- not doing it for me so far.
I get the whole idea of reclaiming things which are damaged and changing them into ifantastical new creations. But where is the narrative? Doesn't hang together. Disappointing so far

scaredycat12 · 09/09/2012 21:05

janey - there is no narrative to this one. It's just a spectacle.

V disappointing they cut to and ad break just as the Irish guy was getting his special recognition!

slartybartfast · 09/09/2012 21:06

paralympics has been brilliant! as was olympics;
it really needs to be an annual event in London

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 09/09/2012 21:07

Am another one who will really miss it. It's going to seem very empty.

cardibach · 09/09/2012 21:08

I am going to miss the 'lympics (word designed to remove the need to say 'Olympics and Paralympics). I am going to miss Oscar and Jonnie in particular. Also Jody Cundy and Jon-allan Butterworth
How do we stop disability sport fading into the background again?

ChoccyJules · 09/09/2012 21:09

Look out, it's Clodplay. At least they got it over with early on.

It sure is rubbish with the adverts though.

Am going to be bereft next week. And am not remotely sporty!

slartybartfast · 09/09/2012 21:10

i loved the faces of the british winners, so happy when they won Smile Smile

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 09/09/2012 21:10

Sound is better though I think than the bbc closing ceremony.

paRaahhlympiansgoingforgold · 09/09/2012 21:14

Cardi- I am hoping this will mean more disability sport is shown on tv. This has proved an amazing success- Claire Balding was talking about it yesterday. Before this, most people would have been able to name 1, 2 paralympic athletes- now there are many that have become household names.

paRaahhlympiansgoingforgold · 09/09/2012 21:15

I do like this song- brings back happy memories...Torch (using it before it goes)Sad

cardibach · 09/09/2012 21:17

I hope so, Raahh. Trying not to fall back to default cynical position on this one. Perhaps we need to put pressure on by writing letters etc.

Katisha · 09/09/2012 21:18

It's not just disability sport that will fade away on tv. It will be anything that isn't male football. There will continue to be no women's sport apart from Wimbledon, hardly any athletics, etc etc.

AmIthatbad · 09/09/2012 21:20

Coldplay are good.

LostInWales · 09/09/2012 21:21

I feel like the telly tubbies after they show the little films 'again, again' Grin

travellingwilbury · 09/09/2012 21:22

I think I might actually have a wee weep .

Please let this not be the end of watching inspirational sport .

cardibach · 09/09/2012 21:26

I really hope not, Katisha (I was Pitti-Sing once, by the way - not on here, on stage). I fear you may be right though. I hope people have less patience with prima donna footballers after seeing genuine sportspeople at both events. WHat can we do to cahnge it if it isn't what we want?
