SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

I'm tempted to post some hints for this SENCO...

...here who wants some advice on how to deal with a 'difficult parent' and SALT who doesn't seem to know her place.

I'm sure some of the teachers/SENCOs used to think the same thing before DS was statemented!

The difference for me is that my lad is in a wonderful, mainstream school with over 1,500 students. His teachers are mostly very aware, ask before judging and adapt to changing circumstances and needs very well. Nor do the majority hold grudges in any discernible way.
I've had 'vigorous negotiations' and 'focused discussions' but never had to outright fight for his entitlements. His SENCO is amazing.
So although it's been a decade of us and the system, it's always felt more like teamwork, with the occasional numpty in the way.
So our experiences have been very different to WetAugust's.

Oh, Goblin, teamwork, that sounds so nice....which I could get me a bit of that.

Even though my school are now trying, on a daily basis, I wonder whether sending DS their is the right thing and whether I should home ed for a bit.

Square peg round hole and all that - I don't want him 'knocking in to shape'

My daughter was never even referred by the Form tutor to the SENCO. So when eventually the LEA advised us to apply for a fast tracked Statement, and SENCO had to complete a form saying what she had already done with my daughter, she had to say that she had absolutely NO knowledge or contact with my daughter. How disgraceful is that?

Lucinda - you have been outed from other mumsnets threads for trying to have a go at TES.

You have never posted here before. I don't know why you are trying to wind up TES - but piss off from here and don't involve us.

This is a seriously old and closed thread. Go away.

I have posted here before.

If I have been outed it was a false accusation.
