i cant find my original thread regarding statement

anyway it was needing complete re write i sent back highlighted pages and lengthy letter saying what i wasn't happy with etc

well i phoned today as had nothing back and apparently am getting a re written statement sent out in next couple of days with the changes that i have asked for

so fingers crossed this one will make more sense and the changes will be right for him i can only hope

i was surprised no meeting was needed lets hope this one covers all his needs though the last thing i want to do is appeal it again

bubblaboy has his induction at big school today so excited

ooh and went sainsbury and they have huge school uniform sale 3 polo shirts 1.75 bargain

OP posts:
bubblagirl · 05/06/2009 18:07

induction went good had to bribe him to come back in from outside his a runner but was playing with 2 boys chasing each other so that was good

luckily 5 boys he knows from pre school will be in same class that im more happy about than anything as it will be familiar faces for him

although the behaviorally challenged child is in same class and is huge disruption for ds so was tiny bit upset about that was hoping they wouldn't be together only at break times

never mind he was having good time until carpet time and singing he really hates that but overall i think with the right help he should be ok

although he keeps telling me now he don't want to go big school so something maybe the singing has ruined it for him lets hope the excitement he had will come back

Do not be afriad to send it back with corrections if required. Do seek advice on anything you are unsure of because once fully written Parts 2 and 3 (particularly 3) are perhaps the best you're going to get for some time (well until its rewritten at the end of Bubblaboy's year 2).

Keeping fingers also crossed for a well written Statement from Big Bad Baz!.

With best wishes

Attila

P.S I await this LEA's revised statement for my DS with great interest as well!.

bubblagirl · 05/06/2009 20:51

bubblagirl · 06/06/2009 10:22

he was given 3 extra hours no one to one still and close help at lunch pe and school trips again not what he needs im so unhappy this is so hard

and hasn't been re written all is still vague they just added two paragraphs and said small group instead of or class

its not what he needs he needs full support 23 hrs is not full support he needs 30 to cover lunch times he will struggle without this help i just know it
so another letter to write

OP posts:
misscutandstick · 06/06/2009 10:26

awww im so sorry to hear they are still being so unhelpful.

Yup sounds like another re-write. good luck.

do they have to do the re-write in a certain time frame?

bubblagirl · 06/06/2009 10:30

15 days i think

OP posts:
notfromaroundhere · 06/06/2009 12:12

sorry it wasn't how you wanted, good luck for the next round with them

misscutandstick · 06/06/2009 15:34

well the yellow and pink forms got there, and its being decided on wether to actually assess for statementing on Thursday.

how long after that do you reckon they will let me know?

Phoenix4725 · 06/06/2009 15:46

they have 6 weeks from when you first sent letter asking them to statement him .I marke don calendar and phoned them day before since had herd nothing

misscutandstick · 06/06/2009 16:08

They sent me a letter stating that they received my letter on 1st May, so plus 6wks would be 12th June - they make the decision on 11th June (like to cut it close dont they!)... so should i receive info on the day after, on the 12th itself?

sorry for Hyjack BBGirl

and there is no way that they could contact any of DS5's professionals in that time as they havent even been given details of any - cant see them getting off their backside to find them so does that mean that they decide to agree to assessing for statementing(or not) based purely on what i say on the pink and yellow forms?

bubblagirl · 06/06/2009 16:54

they agree to statement on info you give they will then send you a pck to fill in and you will provide more info and contact details for professionals

they then send another one for child but i filled this on ds behalf just photocopied his personal passport we made for pre school and sent that back with that pack

then from there they wait for all reports to come back etc and make there proposed statement from info provided

OP posts:
bubblagirl · 06/06/2009 16:54

hyjack as much as you like use thread as you need its fine by me

OP posts:
Phoenix4725 · 06/06/2009 17:21

misscutandstick has ds seen ep and is early years team involved for playschool they were the ones they spoke to at first

misscutandstick · 06/06/2009 17:51

The date that the first letter was received was the 1st May, so plus 6wks would be 12th June - the deciding day is 11th June, cutting it a bit fine if you ask me - is this normal?

They havent had any notification of any professionals that see DS5, and I really cant see them getting off their arse to find them. So does this mean that they decide to assess for statementing (or not!) based entirely on what ive written?

The Ed psych sent a letter last week and wont be seeing both DS4 and DS5 until the 19th June.

Inclusion SUpport is involved (portage) but she hasnt been contacted at all, so i know that there isnt a report from her either (if thats needed at the this stage?). I know that he has been allocated some 1:1 funding, from the 'family of schools' fund, but i dont know how much. Portage was going to find out for me on Thursday PM.

On the pink and yellow forms there was a miniscule box that asked which professionals were involved, but basically the box was the size of a handwritten yes/no type answer. I did squeeze in what i could, but only profession types not names and numbers.

OH BUGGER just realised that my similar post that i thought had dissapeared has actually been posted but im not rubbing this out, it took ages to type!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 06/06/2009 17:54

Bubblagirl

Another one of Basildon's fine statement docs not!.

As previously mentioned you will have to fight this lot (I know them all too well unfortunately) long and hard for lunchtime support as it costs them lots more. They're not even mentioning one to one either which is bad news.

Reject this yet again and certainly write back to them asap. I would now suggest you now meet with them at The Knares (I believe they are still based there) if you can stomach the idea. If not, seek independent advice from either ACE, SOS;SEN or IPSEA re Parts 2 and 3 and ask them what it should read. I would think that if Part 3 is vague then Part 2 may not be completely accurate either.

With best wishes

Attila

(Will let you know how DS's revised statement will read but his current one does state "one to one support" on it. I won't get that till much later this year (which is fine by me, I have enough to deal with as it is with the bloody incompetants at the CDC!).

misscutandstick · 06/06/2009 17:57

replying to BBGirls 4.54pm post:

ah, now that makes sense. so the agreement to assess for statement IS based on the pink/yellow forms filled in by me. I dont think they should deny (I was very thorough with why he needs one) - although apparently its particularly difficult to get a statement round here because of the way the funding is given to schools BEFORE its claimed thru statements.

So portage (inclusion support/early years) and EP will give in reports after its accepted for assessment to statement.

got it, thanks

so, will it arrive friday (12th June, the 6week mark) or sometime after do you reckon?

bubblagirl · 06/06/2009 18:19

if it hasn't arrived then phone them

OP posts:
bubblagirl · 06/06/2009 18:29

Atilla im so unsure what to do im thinking if i fight for 2 more hours that gives 25 hrs so will be 5 hrs a day individual or small group it says

will leave dinner time with no help but was hoping maybe if i spoke to school they could arrange for someone to walk him through to get meal and seat him

not sure if with this he's cope or if i should keep fighting for more

also should speech therapy be mentioned such as going to clinic for continued SALT or them to us as he will definitely still need speech therapy were only just making progress on one speech sound lots more to go yet

also no mention again of anyone being autism trained should this be mentioned?

OP posts:
Phoenix4725 · 06/06/2009 18:34

i would go for the asd training we got it in statement that everyone that come sin to contact with ds ismakton and pecs trained plus aslo trained in other non verbal communication.

warning once ds is at school his salt will change you come under schol team which tend be crapp why the sn school want ds in as emplyed their own was fed up with lea proviso and this is bearing in mind 90%at the school have in statements than

Another thought when had meeting with lea they talked about that you can ask for extra hrs for settling in till see how Bubblaboy copes they normally fund a term then can be revised
