OK, here it is - our own SN exercise support thread. I have to admit that I'm not starting my regime proper until next week - in my defence (m'lud) I've had a friend staying all week and was not prepared to jump about with Davina in front of him . But he did drag me up Glastonbury Tor yesterday (in the rain) so I've done a bit of exercise at least. Unfortunately I then had bubble and squeak with bacon/egg in a cafe...

As you can see I may not be the best person to exort you all to higher standards of diet and exercise - have the will power of a gnat.

Spent 10 mins bouncing on DD's mini trampoline yesterday, does that count? Also had to take my car in to be fixed (500 euros I can't afford to spend!!) so had to drag DD everywhere on foot today, so I walked miles, but at 4 year old pace so I'm not sure if that really counts...
SO good at making excuses so will watch this thread with interest.

anonandlikeit · 10/09/2008 19:04

Other than bouncing on the trampoline with ds2 & escorting him up & down the stairs every time he wants to go up & down, up & down, up & down up & bloody down, I don't get any exercise so would be grateful for any encouragement.

And as for diet, well i ahve the diet of a 20stone lorry driver

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 10/09/2008 20:20

Well I'm swimming 22 miles in 12 weeks, starting on Monday . It will half kill me.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 10/09/2008 20:21

Oh I'm doing it for charity (Aspire a spinal injury charity) because otherwise I'll give up half way through.

Right, I'm starting tomorrow with a 2 mile round trip walk into town (pushing DS2 plus shopping up v steep hill).
No more chocolate buttons from now on.
No more pinching leftovers from the DS' plates.
No Friday night Chinese takeaway (ouch)

Bought some lovely Fat Face cords today as an incentive, can only get the button done up with immense force. Target to have them fitting properly within 4 weeks.

Longer term target to do a 10k charity run..

anonandlikeit · 10/09/2008 21:05

Thats what i need an incentive, a charity run fast walk might do the trick!

sphil · 10/09/2008 21:26

Yes, lack of incentive is my problem too. The only time I've ever lost weight successfully was when I went to a Rosemary Conley class with a friend - I basically ignored the diet but just ate less of what I was eating anyway. It was the weekly weigh-ins that did it for me - I was pathetically proud when I got the 'slimmer of the week' certificate (once).

JJ that's very impressive - how often are you swimming?

Oooh, can I join in? I'm trying to do 30 mins exercise most days. Some of it's just walking v e r y slowly whilst DD examines cracks in the pavement and coos at buses. My aim is to lose a stone by Christmas. My diet would be OK if I was a 5-a-side football team.

magso · 10/09/2008 23:21

Today started well- got long overdue haircut (well have to spruce up a bit!), parking some distance away to save car park fee but made cookies afterschool with ds- bad move. All now eaten - mostly by male family members but I did help a teansy bit - so will have to make more for party at weekend ! Only other exercise I got was running after ds- oh and does getting 6 lots of washing dry count (its windy outside so harder work than usual)! Tommorow will park mile from hospital ( ds has appt).
JJ thats impressive- hope it goes well.

A stone by Christmas sounds like a good target - I'll go for that too.

Walked into town yesterday and then back carrying huge pile of storage boxes - only about 30 minutes altogether though. Today all I've done so far is add to the spread of my buttocks by sitting at my desk planning DS2's sensory programme - and Mnetting...

Well I've not started yet, but after Welcome Week at uni, I'll have Wednesday afternoons off, and plan on using the uni gym. Also planning on attending a Tuesday lunchtime yoga class at uni too oh, and my new uni study place is upstairs so have to walk up and down for drinks, loo etc.

Am posting this from my brand new shiny iMac, just been installed.

How do you think we should keep each other going? Say once a week how much weight we've lost? Wouldn't have to say what we weighed!

OK - weigh in tomorrow then? Just to say if you've lost any weight this week and how much?

sphil · 12/09/2008 09:20
