I was meant to have my first childfree day since mid October today instead I have all 3 home

I cried

Ds2 has an inflamed hip - had it since Tuesday- something that follows a viral infection apparently. He's OK but has to rest. Was meant to be going back to hospital for a reviiew today that I'll have to cancel.

DS1 has been up since 4.30am with constipation and overflow (yuck). Common in autism but I thought we'd avoided it. Explains all the dreadful muscle spasms etc we've been getting though- knew it was biomedical.

Ds3- meant to be at his CM's but can't get him there (because of having ds1 and ds2).

No help tonight (mum xmas shopping) and dh on rare night out.

Where's the wine?

oh god this is getting worse. ds1 is in agony he's crawling around on all floor leaving a trail behind him. Im actually pleased ds2 is off now as he's looking after ds3 for me.

JJ. Wish I lived nearer! Remember what it was like having no child free time. Poor DS1 too - I don't suppose he will drink prune juice? Sorts DS1 out every time. (I know, I know - probably a stupid suggestion - ducks and runs as glass of wine comes hurtling in my direction).

He's eating and drinking better than he has in years.

Am rather worried this means that he has worse gut problems than I realised. Have been cribbing this morning and its all as nightmarish as I remember (which is why I've always been particularly pleased not to have gone there).

It all fits (and lots of stuff starts to make sense now), but now know I need to do something about it. Not sure where to start- especially as the specialist in all of this was of course hounded out of the country. If I try with my local gastroenterologist I know theat they'll find him untreatable. Last time he had to go to hospital they couldn't even get a blood pressure reading from him.

Maybe I should see if its a one off (although I know enough from my reading that that's not very likely- even if the symptoms aren;t always that obvious).

Jimjams, i apologise for my ignorance, but what exactly causes it ? Are allergies involved (have dd2 with dairy allergy and severe bowel probs)

Wish I could pop round to help you. Been busy ranting on my own selfpitying thread about not being invited to a party and then I read this and feel bad!
Is the consultant in the US, could you go see them there?
Have I mentioned the Institute of Health in Washington to you before?

He's beginning to worry me now he still can;t go and has a constant drip of what looks like water.

AAndrew Wakefield was the expert- and experienced with ttreating severely autistic kids. He's now in Texas. There's no way ds1 could manage a plane journey.

JimJams - would a suppository work?
Do you have any in and would he let you near him to 'administer' it?

Have you tried anything like syrup of figs or anything?

Need to get that compacted poo out somehow to stop the overflow. Poor him and poor you.

a suppository is prob the best idea TC, but I have the other 2 with me so can't go anywhere to get one. Oh bollocks.

Right - ring pharmacy and beg them, cry at them, ask them to please please send someone over with a pack.

Is there a neighbour, a friend that will do you a favour and drive there for you if not.

So wish I could help.

Jimjams, in a situation like that you should use your on call gp and they should bring one for you.
Ring the surgery and tell the receptionist.

Is he in pain?

Yeah the GP might help, or do you have a Health visitor you can call? She might take pity, someone bloody has to.

I have to say that when Lottie gets really badly constipated, which is sadly quite often, it really upsets me. So horrid to see them so distressed. Last time she was drenched in sweat, bright red and screaming. When she eventually went she changed instantly. It's very upsetting and I massively sympathise with you.

jimjams have only just seen this thread. So sorry to hear things are rough atm.

are you ok? do you have a lloyds farmacy nearby? if so don't they deliver? if you ring them and say it's an emergency and you need something now.

wish I lived nearer - would go out and get whatever you needed.

My mum (a nurse) turned up with supplies. We couldn't get the suppository into him. He's had fluids pushed and a bath. He's happily padding round in a nappy but is still leaking everywhere. He's been trying for almost 12 hours now, looks shattered. DH has cancelled his night out. He has spent almost the entire day trying. Really don't know what else we can do.

Feeling very guilty because I've let biomed slip (because it got so hard to get stuff into him). Fuckity fuck.

what about a laxitive, is there any way he would take that - I think you can get some that look/taste like chocolate?
