I cried

Ds2 has an inflamed hip - had it since Tuesday- something that follows a viral infection apparently. He's OK but has to rest. Was meant to be going back to hospital for a reviiew today that I'll have to cancel.

DS1 has been up since 4.30am with constipation and overflow (yuck). Common in autism but I thought we'd avoided it. Explains all the dreadful muscle spasms etc we've been getting though- knew it was biomedical.

Ds3- meant to be at his CM's but can't get him there (because of having ds1 and ds2).

No help tonight (mum xmas shopping) and dh on rare night out.

Where's the wine?

It's so awful isn't it. I give DD1 Bowel essence, it's just flower tinctures but really works, but like you now and then it slips. I foprget once then it turns into a week since she had any and she's in a state again and I feel awful. When it comes to the suppository thing I put her infront of a DVD then sneak up on her and have to pin her down. I find it so hard and so, so upsetting but I have to. Like you DS she starts trying to go on a Tuesday morning and we see it sometime in the early hours of Wednesday morning for example. So sorry for you both I really am. Last time DD1 was literally wringing wet with sweat and literally screaming it was quite mad, I didn't know what to do with her and she didn't know what to do with herslef.
So pleased you DH has cancelled his night out, bless him. What a strange excuse to give his colleauges, lol,!

I really hope it all passes soon I really do.

Don't know what else to suggest.

Can you try again with the suppository later???

we've got the chocolate laxative into him, but its slow acting.

Have some flower essences here TC- will have a browse through them or maybe try something homeopathic- I gave him silica ealier but I'm not convinced it fits anyway. Maybe some gelsenium, hmmmm. Unfortunately my homeopath is away at the moment (only spoke to to her yesterday about ds2's inflamed hip and ds3's swollen willy!!)

He's started screaming now and is very sore- hopefully that means we're getting closer.

JJ - shall I get some of this flower essence stuff and post it to you? Will be with you on saturday if you say yes and I can get your address. Do you want to know more about it?

Poor things, so hope he gets to go before he goes to bed.

Jimjams2 · 07/12/2006 19:58

Thanks TC that's kind- although we have a place locally that does flower essences and my dad will be in tomorrow late afternoon so I'll be able to pop out and get some - worth investigating - if you have details of what's in it that might be useful.

Just given some nux vom. He's lying in bed curled up on all 4's. God its horrendous don't know how you deal with it all the time. Did I tell you about my friend who thinks that lots of children with DS have gluten problems (she has a child with DS), she reckons she improved/cured a lot of his bowel problems when he went gluten free.

Well the offer remians open, you just have to say. It's sold in my very local health food shop, so.... just ask if you change your mind.

It's from the Jan de Vries range and is called Bowel Essence (nice!!! )
It contains: Tinctures of the flowers - pine, orange, hawkweed, walnut, willow, star of bethlehem, agrimony, tormentil, mimulus, bluebells, and self heal in equal amounts.

You drop it into water and it's tasteless. DD1 normally detects anything but not this.

I honestly swear by it.

Sounds silly but will you let me know when he's ok please? Have been watching this thread all day! Hope to hear some good news soon.

And yes, you did kindly tell me about your friend. I found it very interesting and put DD1 on a gluten free diet for a month but it seemed to have no affect at all unfortunatley.

tamum · 07/12/2006 20:11

Oh blimey, I was hoping things had got better. You must be utterly shattered Poor, poor ds1.

Jimjams2 · 07/12/2006 20:15

Thanks TC- I will do. I'm pretty sure that's the brand that is stocked (I picked up a load recently).

Ah that's a shame it didn't work- but good to have it ticked off the list iykwim.

He's asleep- and for the first time in 3 years fell asleep without gates up and without having to have all the lights in the house off. Not sure how long for. He must be shattered. I did manage to speak to my friend's dh who is a gastroenterologist- if ds1 is OK tomorrow I'll see her at University in the morning so may get some more advice.

t=oh the shame it didn';t work was about the gf stuff. Mind you a relief not to have to do the diet!!

OP posts:
TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 07/12/2006 20:21

Yes it was a bit of a relief in a way, what a massive pain in the arse that was! Errr, if you'll pardon the pun!

Bless him

Jimjams2 · 07/12/2006 20:38

I've sent dh out now its peaceful and have a cup of tea. Just realised ds2 was meant to make a cake for a competition tomorrow but really don't think we could have managed that today. DS2 has been wonderful - I kept him off school because the hospital had told him he needed to rest for 3 days but also because it was his nativity today and I thought there was no way I;d be able to go, I thought he'd be more upset at us not going than him not doing it iyswim. BUt he has been a star- DS1 spent most of the day on the toilet tbh and ds2 has played with ds3 and kept him out of the way the whole time. Apart from ds3 shoving a load of toys behind the radiator he's been no trouble.

What lovely boys
Sorry you had to have such a mad day though, you must be shattered. Sounds like a horlicks and bath night to me. Hope you all sleep through and DS goes with ease in the am, fingers crossed for you.

Jimjams2 · 07/12/2006 21:05

ds3 is normally a nightmare, so ds2 did very well

bananasinpyjamas · 07/12/2006 23:11

Just read your whole thread. What a day! How is everyone now?

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 08/12/2006 07:25

Did he sleep through. Any sign? Hope you don't have another day like that.

Blu · 08/12/2006 09:48

I woke up this morning hoping this would be a 'came the dawn' moment for you, and a better day ahead.

Any chance of re-scheduling your child free day before term ends??

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 08/12/2006 12:12

Just checking in........

anniebear · 08/12/2006 12:20

Oh Jimjams. I would have sobbed if my cild free day was not to be!

Sorry to hear how awful it has been also

Hope your DD is ok now

anniebear · 08/12/2006 12:21

child free, sorry!

Saker · 08/12/2006 13:17

Coming rather late to this but I hope your Ds1 is feeling better and that you will manage to get a day to yourself soon.

Jimjams2 · 08/12/2006 14:34

We were up in the night scrubbing carpets and running baths. Still not cleared it though, although he does seem more comfortable. Shattered actually (me - although he probably is as well!).

The childfree day doesn;t really matter I was only going to catch up on some work, not be a lady who lunches or anything important It was just going to be some space iykwim.

Going to go and have a cuddle with him.

OP posts:
Blu · 08/12/2006 16:59

Oh, but space...such a luxury.

Oh poor ds1 and poor old you (yep - I would have cried too). Get that vino out.

Just as an aside, Paediatric Movicol has been a godsend for us with dd's constipation. 1/2 a sachet daily keeps her bowels normal (sorry if tmi!), and the need for suppositories at bay. I don't know if you'd have any success giving it to your ds, we manage to disguise it in the awful gunky Paediasure milk that she has. Anyway, it does what it says on the tin, unlike lactulose which had no impact whatsoever.
