I cried

Ds2 has an inflamed hip - had it since Tuesday- something that follows a viral infection apparently. He's OK but has to rest. Was meant to be going back to hospital for a reviiew today that I'll have to cancel.

DS1 has been up since 4.30am with constipation and overflow (yuck). Common in autism but I thought we'd avoided it. Explains all the dreadful muscle spasms etc we've been getting though- knew it was biomedical.

Ds3- meant to be at his CM's but can't get him there (because of having ds1 and ds2).

No help tonight (mum xmas shopping) and dh on rare night out.

Where's the wine?

fio - they're ladies who always have perfectly manicured feet

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 08/12/2006 18:03

Hi Jimjams - so no real clearage occured then? Poor soul

Chonky - this movicol - can you tell me more please. Off to see consultant on Thurs and would like to discuss this with her for DD1, thank you.

Jimjams2 · 08/12/2006 20:04

I am lady who shoves a sandwich down her neck when she remembers.

I have some adult strength movicol...... He seems far more comfortable and very calm today (although still squitty). Not really trying much though so now I'm wondering if he just has some weird bug that hasn't made him ill. He's not crawling around on the floor in pain or anything now. AND he's taken himself off to bed again!!!!!!! Laying off laxatives etc for the moment and will see how he goes tomorrow. Very very calm though, calmest I can remember for years!

Jimjams, glad to hear ds1 is bit better today.
Does this happen a lot with him ?
My little DD2 was up through the night weds and thurs with terrible runs from eating hidden dairy.

Its always from the trainee teachers at school giving out sweets; makes me so mad!
DD2 is so good about not taking anything she isnt sure about so dont know how this has happened.

Jimjams2 · 08/12/2006 22:07

He used to get very constipated about 3 years ago, but things have been fine for a while. Am concerned its just been hidden!

Teecee - Movicol's a powder for oral solution, containing Macrogol (?), Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarb & Potassium Chloride. So no real nasties. It has been a wonder mix for dd as far as constipation was concerned - we'd tried everything.

Deffo ask your consultant about it - fingers crossed it works for your dd.

chonky · 08/12/2006 23:26

ps - Jimjams, hope things continue to improve.

Jimjams2 · 09/12/2006 07:53

hallelujah - 6.30 this morning!

Blu · 09/12/2006 11:07

LOL - is this the first time 'Hallelujah' has applied to a bowel movement??!! We're all rejoicing with you, JimJams!

Jimjams2 · 09/12/2006 11:59

I am thinking of buying champagne.

OP posts:
Blu · 09/12/2006 14:12

I honestly think you should.

Cheers to you!

Jimjams2 · 09/12/2006 18:36

champagne on hold, now the cooker's blown up. ~This week has been like some sort of joke.

motherinfurrierfestivefrock · 09/12/2006 18:49

Jimjams, you NEED that champagne. Get a takeout (delivered) and drink it, NOW.

Jimjams2 · 09/12/2006 18:54

well I think the cooker would have blown up earlier in the week if we hadn't had quite so many takeouts this week

Frankly, I'd be tempted to miss the food out entirely, and eat crisps and Bombay mix alongside the booze. These are desperate times.

Jimjams2 · 09/12/2006 19:08

Have I told you about ds3's rash? (puts head in bucket).

I'm off to Sainsbury's after the kids are in bed to buy ready made food and duurrink. Will be consumed in front of a This Life video (we getting close to the finale).

oh Jimjams, sorry about the cooker, and the rash but glad Ds is sorted.

I thought of you tonight as I administered a suposity to DD! Sure you'll be pleased to know that!

She was in a right old state again today. She asked constantly for the toilet all day long, she has been on and off it and each time a new nappy as , well anyway...., cried loads, said 'poo hurt' over and over and over and over, , made me rub her tummy, she was red and sweaty, etc etc etc. Got to 8pm and thought 'I just can't let you go to bed like this' so had to intervene
Anyway it worked. Blimey, did it ever and bless her, she started to really laugh with the jot of it as soon as it was over and said 'hooray'!!!!! Bless

Blimey how can I talk for so long about poo?!!

DD's teacher is getting as obsessed as me! She writes about it and it's size etc and tells me she cheers when she goes! LOL!

Jimjams2 · 09/12/2006 22:06

Blimey TC that sounds awful. Glad she got rid of it! The good news is ds1 went to bed without gates and lights off again tonight!!!!!! Amazing!

I'm off to practice my new skill (ask Twig). And drink wine.

Jimjams ... got your email sweetheart - thanks ...
Just came on to see your thread and it seems like a bloody nightmare ...

I hope you have a better day tomorrow ... {{{{{hugs}}}}}

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 10/12/2006 07:39

That's great news about the gate and lights JimJams

Did you track down that bowel essence stuff btw? Let me know if you want me to get you any.

sphil · 10/12/2006 08:52

Oh good news (didn't cme on MN yesterday so have only just caught up). Not good news about cooker though.

Do you subcribe to the theory that a 'crisis' of some kind is often followed by a progression in children with ASD? I only wonder because you talked before this about DS1 being tense, then there were the muscles spasms and obviously then the bowel problem - but now he seems calmer and the going to bed routine has improved.

We've had a similar thing with DS2 - as you know have been v worried about him over last few weeks - sleeplessness, ill, lots more stimming, eczema etc etc. But in the last few days he seems to have come out of it - we've had some great language
( 'no nana....bread...toast') and he's been very responsive. Also had good nursery party experience (see other thread). So am wondering about crisis (maybe gluten related in our case) followed by advance. Want to believe it anyway .

Jimjams2 · 10/12/2006 15:10

I haven't yet TC, and I may well take you up on that (don't want to be any bother though, I just haven't had a chance to check in the local shop yet).

I think in ds1's case the spasms are biomed related. I suspect he was spasming because he was so constipated! The gate thing is behavioural, i think by being ill one night so more interested in sleeping than running madly around the house it just broke the "i run madly around the house until I am secured in my room" routine. IYSWIM. Will see if it lasts!

OP posts:
TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 12/12/2006 10:37

JJ - you won't be any bother.

I'll get it on Friday which will be my next opportunity, and post it straight away.

I'll cat you now for you address and carry the envelope with me so the minute I buy it I can post it. Post office is next to Health Food shop.

And yes that break of routine makes perfect sense. Happens with DD1 as well.
