We don't do shows like the Big Bang now we have ds1 though Purple, its just not doable and poor old dh has to get his VW fix somehow, not to mention the boys actually like Vanfest. Dh and I come away every year whining about how crap it is and how its just a glorified craft fair with vans, but at least we can go and look at some vans.
We do go to Stanford Hall if we can as well and we used to do some of the smaller meets when we lived up North and ds was much younger.
We were at the amusingly titled Night of Fire at Longmarston Airfield years ago, when the Local Council banned both the late night drag racing and the fireworks. After all these years, we still refer to it fondly as the afternoon of fire.
Bloomin cold it were that night as well iirc. Brrrr!
Ds does have ear defenders, but is too embarrassed to wear them these days. He's also not good on going anywhere new or different - hence us having the same boring holiday in the same place with the same tourist spots and days out year after year, after year, after year after ......
Also not keen on the whole teenage girls in skimpy clothes doing beauty competitions etc and generally sexist image used to sell shows like VW Action. Not sure if that's still the case, but it certainly was when we were young 'uns.
Thanks for the offer, but I think we do right to leave it to you youngsters. We are ancient don'tchaknow.
I want a Caravelle. Actually I really want a Bluestar Multivan, but dh isn't in agreement on that one.
We had the most beautiful Westy, which dh (with a bit of help from me) restored from scratch when ds1 was a newborn, using all original and nos parts. It was lovely and we both really loved it, but knew with kids and dogs etc we wouldn't really enjoy owning it for fear of it getting damaged. We do have a lovely full width westy bed in our tin-top though.
