Well forum for the dc's is nearly done folks fighting and I are admins so soon as it's finished our dc's can all have a natter.

The weeks not been too bad here but glad it's Friday as I'm not sure how much more ds could cope with this week.

I'll be on and off tonight as I have a few bits on the dc's forum to finish up :)

Hi everyone - I thought I'd start the new year by joining the Friday night thread, I've lurked a few times before!

No wine for me, just this month though - a January detox :) - diet coke and a weightwatcher dessert will be the highlight of my night!

Off to cook dinner - will try and catch up again later!

bigcar · 07/01/2011 20:05

1980, arsenic has baileys if you're off the wine Grin

Keep banging on about Outcomes though. It keeps everyone on track and focussed.

Who cares what the difficulties are anyway, providing the solution is working?

Marne · 07/01/2011 20:14

Hope you are all enjoying your friday evening, i have just managed to get both dd's asleep (with the help of melatonin), dd1 is a little anxious tonight i think school has stressed her out, she's moaning that her arms hurt and she's worried children will bang into them at school Hmm. Dd2 had a mini meltdown at bed tome as she lost her dummy (but fast asleep now).

Purple- where abouts do you live? (Dorset of Hants?), dd2 would really like to stroke your cat Grin, i would love to get her a cat but we live too close to a busy road Sad, dd2 seems to conect with animals.

badkitty · 07/01/2011 20:34

Hello, I've not been around much for a bit but thought I would check in. Just on orange juice though as am now nearly 11 wks pg Shock!

I have already managed to do my back in this week lifting DS so don't know how am going to manage later on - however he has been being quite good at crawling between rooms for me a bit as "Mummy has a poorly back" so hopefully something we can work on...

Pregnancy brain has now officially kicked in making me a danger to all around me - turned my head for a second today and DS managed to flip himself off his changing table - thank god no damage done. Then later when parking I managed to crash into gently nudge a post in front of us which he thought was hilarious.

Came home from DS's appointment with orthotist today with a lovely pair of pink trainers 4 sizes too big to wear over his DAFOs - DS is going to be quite the boy about town...

marne yay for sleeping children! Do you find the melatonin helps ( mine are good sleeper but I work with SN kids and have prescribed melatonin)
badkitty congats on new cooking bundle!

Am now trying to spend some nice time with older dc....I do find it hard balancing needs of V difficult DD3 with others...sigh...

waitingforgodot · 07/01/2011 20:42

evening all. Am in my jammies with a glass of wine.
Week been ok-back to work for me and nursery for DS. He was very well behaved until today where he started hitting people.

ouryve · 07/01/2011 20:48

Sipping on a very welcome Morgans Spiced and caffeine free diet coke, here!

After initial drama, got the kids back to school OK. Then the new nursery starters arrived and DS2 has been clinging to his assistant! And then, this morning, DS1 keeps turning off his teacher's computer and then literally kicks off, kicking his teacher and his assistant, before going for another boy in the corridor and then rolling around on the floor and scrubbing himself on the carpets, giving himself some grazes :( He managed to calm down, this afternoon and took his loss of screen time at home amazingly well, but he's insisting he had no choice but to do what he did.

It's going to be a long year :/

intothewest · 07/01/2011 21:03

Congrats badkitty!!_ sorry for all those who've had a stressful day ( passes wine... and MORE chocs,,,they HAVE to be eaten)

Marne · 07/01/2011 21:06

Overflowing-Melatonin is great Grin, dd2 used to take 3-4 hours to get to sleep, she now takes 30 mins, we have jused upped her dose as she started taking longer to get to sleep, the only problem is it doesn't keep her asleep Grin.

1980Sport · 07/01/2011 21:16

Sorry to hear about your back Badkitty, I know the feeling but good news that all is well with baby2.

Marne - would you think about an indoor cat? A friend has two in a very small terrace house, they have never been outside and they are so loving and friendly. She keeps lots of scratching poles so no damage to the furniture although I think you can get their nails removed (not sure tho!)

Marne · 07/01/2011 21:21

1980- not sure if i could cope with a litter tray Sad. Our neighbours have cats (they don't go near the main road) but i don't think i could risk it as dd2 would be very upset if it got hit by a car. We have a dog which the dd's love, i would have more pets but dh is not keen.

1980Sport · 07/01/2011 21:36

Marne - I hadn't thought about the litter tray, yuck!! A dog is hard enough work!

bigcar · 07/01/2011 21:36

we got a rescue cat a couple of months ago, litter tray hasn't been that bad, we use liners and one of the low odour litters for the tray. We are hoping she'll go out once the weather is a little warmer now she's had all her jabs though.

purplepidjin · 07/01/2011 21:55

Moose and Marne, you will shortly have mail Smile

My pair are both mostly indoor cats due to living near a main road, the litter tray doesn't cause too much problem for me (not dcs though...) I have a covered one and do a full litter change every 2-3 days.

VW Sharan is fine in an MNSN Dub Club, and as long as you pay your track fee, you can RWYB all you like - and DP will take the piss over the tannoy and on Nitro FM. My favourite was a cocky Astra driver last year at VAGfest - Astra becomes Ashtray and contains fags...

Sorry for absence, been swimming. I dragged my pg friend out bythehair. I did half a mile and she did a full one Grin

DayShiftDoris · 07/01/2011 22:21

Not had the best week struggled to get Dd3 to do the OT exersises, we have been building up to it over the holiday.
She cried and moaned yesterday but was a bit better today. Had to bribe her though, am going to try to build it into her routine.

LOL

[like thats going to happen] Smile.

Ineedalife · 07/01/2011 22:37

Sorry that was very negative wasn't it,

Dd3 did have a great swimming lesson on Wednesday with a great new teacher.Smile

TheArsenicCupCake · 07/01/2011 22:43

Ds1 is a chess-nut as well (see what I did there Wink and I haven't touched a drop tonight either. Grin

Ineedalife, sorry you haven't had a good week. I have to timetable any exercised ds has to do into his homework timetable in 10 minute chunks or he will flatly refuse to do it. So frustrating when you are trying to help them but they refuse to help themselves.

Great news on the swimming lesson though. I need to book some private lessons for ds, he has been going with the school for 1 term but has made almost zero progress because he hates getting water in his face. We spent months getting him over this particular sensory/phobia thing, but part of the course is to get the children to splash each other so they get used to the sensation. Despite having really good goggles, that was it, we were back to square one with him, plus he reacted aggressively to the other children that splashed him. He has another term to go with the school and their aim is to get him to swim 25m. I am not thinking this is very likely at the moment.

moosemama · 07/01/2011 22:59

Ahhh, just watched Dirty Dancing on one of the cable channels. What a great film, takes me right back it does! I am such a sap. Grin

1980Sport · 07/01/2011 23:09

I love it too! I have 'i've had the time if my life...' as my ring tone Blush
